help for changing assignment setting at code level

We have client server architecture and on client asn we put $SEARCH_DESCRIPTOR = file_first as setting.
Is it posssible to change this option on code level or on server settings (we want to comment it).

Since this asn file is on lot of machines and hence on client side its not possible , If it is possible to put this settings at code level or in aps file
please let me know.
