Widget need to be fixed to grid?

Is there possibility how to position widget more freely than be fixed to grid? There is some possibility, how to overcome... E.g. is possible to draw cmdbutton over two occurences ( e.g. size 10 x 2 ) and scale it vertically on 50% so it looks as positioned on grid line.... But how to do it with EditBox?
