UPOPMAIL and SMTP-AUTH

Hi Unifacers,

We need to connect to an SMTP Server implementing SMTP AUTH protocol on port 587.

We found at this page a reference to "UPOPMAIL NOT supporting Secure SMTP"; as far as I know Secure SMTP means SMTP over SSL or TLS on port 465.

Is there any way as of U9.7.05 to connect to an SMTP-AUTH server?

Thanks in advance for any answer, tips or suggestion.

Hi Gianni,

In the help I saw an item titled "Using SMTP Security Drivers". Maybe that is what you need? I did not try it (yet)

Hi Peter,

we tried already to use security driver (it was our first try!) with NO success.

If I have understood correctly:
0) UPOPMAIL do NOT enable username and password into LogonSMTP() call; it gives back $status -2.
1) The SecurityDriver delivered with Uniface enables to connect to an SMTP server but without crypto.
2) stunnel enable to use crypto but does NOT have in its config the possibility to define username/password.

Right now while writing, we are going to check the use of UPOMAIL + SecurityDriver + stunnel to see if they all together can work.

IT WORKS!

The right solution is to combine together:
- UPOPMAIL
- Security Driver UAuthLoginSMTP
- stunnel

I gave it a try too. My SMTP server requires authentication and SSL.

The SetSecurity operation of the upopmail component return a status 0, but the logonSMTP after that return a -9 (timeout).  Is that your result too without using stunnel?

NO, it WORKS flawlessy...and it is quite fast!

$status always 0 (zero)...
