Problem: How to set the OPENINPUTSHARED configuration option?  I found this option in the documentation but could not find where it is set. Having the problem where two programmers are trying to open the same files as INPUT at the same time and are getting errors.  If there is a better way to do this or this option will not work? Resolution: In the extfh.cfg,this is where you set openinputshared=ON Example, set EXTFH=c:\\mydir\\test.cfg This sets the environment variable EXTFH to the external file handler configuration filename to c:\\mydir\\test.cfg. The File Handler configuration file enables you to alter File Handler parameters for individual files, or for all files. Settings which apply to all files are listed under the tag: [XFH-DEFAULT] OPENINPUTSHARED=ON While settings which apply to an individual file are listed under the individual filename, for example: [TEST.DAT] OPENINPUTSHARED=ON Old KB# 2420#Ent

I am having trouble getting the Miniconda environment working without breaking BPXBATCH.I have a sample BPXBATCH job://BPXBATCH EXEC PGM=BPXBATCH,REGION=512M,PARM='sh java -version'//STDENV DD * //SYSOUT DD SYSOUT=* //STDOUT DD SYSOUT=* //STDERR DD SYSOUT=* If I follow the Miniconda instructions for login shell of /bin/sh, the program specified in the BPXBATCH parm is not executed.If I change the login shell to bash, and add conda.sh to .profile, the program is executed (i.e. attempted)  but the PATH etc. is not set. Hi, we edit our  of visula cobolsources with ecliipse and we havea problem with one of them. The case is that eclipse report us de error show in the image when we do the call to a paragraf  But the paragrah exist, it is defined in line 29187.   there is a num. max of lines definided in Eclipse? is it posible to change this limit there is a limit of lines  betwen the call and the definition of the paragrafh?

How may I print some text ia a specified line/column? Thanks

Hi,Currently we are on V7R2 and Aldon version 7.7 , in some time we plan to upgrade to V7R4 and most recent Aldon Version.Going through documentation I understand we need to do Aldon  upgrade in steps,  first we move to Aldon 8.3A and then to recent Aldon release. May you please suggest all the documentation ( there link ) that I should review for upgrade from 7.7 to 8.3A & then from 8.3A to most recent version, Thanks for your help with the request.

A sub routine needs to know if the active window is maximized and therefor needs the Cobol-Handle of the active window. Can the sub routine get this handle with cobol tools or by calling a dll ?

Hi all. Our customer has some old vision 2 files, they are in the "wrong" byte order so current vutil (and runtime) cannot open them.  We need to get them converted to vision 3 or higher.  Does anyone have a utility which can access those wrong-byte-order files to convert them? Our backup plan is a virtual machine with 32bit windows, since we have their old exe files. But that requires FINDING an old windows version.     I already tried current windows vutil, and all the various linux versions of vutil I have on our servers, none could access.

I'm trying to use a trial license for instruction purposes at Durham College and am unable to install Visual COBOL for VS 2022 because Visual COBOL for VS 2019 has to be uninstalled first. Problem is that Visual COBOL for VS 2019 will not uninstall.

i can create an unidata account using ext admin tool just fine but in universe (which is where I came from to unidata) there was a uv account that went to a universe menu where you could add/delete accounts amount  a lot of other things, is this not available in unidata?thanksdougc

I created a format IDX-8 data file using Visual COBOL 5.0 on Microsoft Visual Studio Community 2019. I would like to know what is the size limit for this data file. I read a knowledge base articled at https://www.microfocus.com/documentation/visual-cobol/vc60/DevHub/HRFLRHFILE09.html . It states that format IDX-8 "Supports Files Logically >4 Gb". What is meant by "logically"? I've been trying to write an ATGUI program using the data grid.  I want to change the row colors on some of the rows but not all. I was able to do it using the ATGUISETPROPS subroutine but it's pretty slow.  My grid displays that data quickly enough by filling it in with the ATGUISETPROPS and loading them all at once. There are only about 30 rows.  After they're displayed I make a second pass highlighting the special rows. It pops up the "Waiting..." dialog and you can watch the colors flow down.Is there anyway to set multiple row colors all at once like ATGUISETPROPS?When I refresh the grid with new data the highlights stay there. I tried setting all the foreground and background colors for the entire grid by using ATGUISETPROP and setting the col and row values to zero. I couldn't get it to work so instead of just setting the highlight colors I have to reset them all for each row whenever I load new data. Is there a better way to re-initialize the grid colors?Finally, is there any wa

I know, I know this is not the latest release, but we're still not ready to deploy miniconda, so please bear with me.The problem is that upon executing some commands I get a SIGPIPE.Example: yesterday I was experimenting with some sudoers rules and I launched this one (real user has been amended):sudo -H -n -u XXXXX -- git ls-remote --tags origin "refs/tags/PROD*"which ends immediately with this error: CEE5213S The signal SIGPIPE was received.The same command executed without sudo (from the correct user) works perfectly.I have tried googling around but I do not find anything.
