I was hoping for a way to provide configuration information without having to write my own subroutine to read a CONFIG or INI file.  I did find something close, the Run-time Launch Configuration File.  (while searching, I did find something called "Run-time Configuration" but it could only be set at compile-time, go figure!).The mfdefault.exe.mfcfg (thanks for the correction, Chris Glazier) file can contain commands to set environment variables during the time the programs run.  These environment varables can be easily read in the program using a DISPLAY/ACCEPT pair of commands.  Individual files, <program name>.exe.mfcfg files, can be created and customized for an individual program.  The syntax for the command in to the mfconfig file is "SETENV <variable name>=<variable value>"  The quotes and "<>" marks are not part of the command.

Hi,In the early cloud roadmap for Uniface circa 2016, there was a plan to support containerisation such as Docker as a deployment platform, is this still on the plans and if so what is the timeline?I understand you have used Docker for associated services such as LDAP etc during the revamp of the DevOps pipeline for u10, but can't see any mention of using it beyond that.  It would be really helpful to understand if this is still an intended direction for Uniface in the cloud and therefore allow us to manage a swarm of containers to deliver required capacity. Has anyone in the community tried it out of interest ?Many thanks

The Uniface Support number 1-800-787-76788 (800-SUPPORTU) rings a Bank of America Customer Service line. What is the correct number for the Uniface Support? The Uniface site has this number published and should be corrected or removed.

We are successfully using standalone Python and Python API in z/OS 2.2 except one thing. In standalone Python print() statements produce output that is correctly displayed on a screen (thanks to _BPXK_AUTOCVT=ON). However when we use API (with the same environment variables exported) the output from print() statements appears to be in ASCII. When this happens the stderr contains a line tput: unknown terminal “/pgm/u/myHomeDir” Our application is compiled as EBCDIC and switches environment to ASCII before using any API calls. Any idea what can be done to make print statements work? Thank you Best regards Jacob

Problem: Code has D in column 7 for the comments, needs to add it to the list of comment characters, how does this get set up? Resolution: Go to Utilities/Options/Component Parameters - for Cobol type - enter in the "Comment Characters" the characters that are used to denote a comment in column 7. e.g.  D*@& Old KB# 5107#EnterpriseAnalyzer#SupportTip

Hi, Development team is facing an issue while trying to run the animator (debugging tool) in R110 debug application (app.r110.kgs.debug.v10). Hi,we are using VC2.3 and have the problem, that the copies, which are in a Copybook-project are compiled in the default package.The cobol programs within a Cobol-JVM-Project which are using the copies are compiled in the package which is defined as PROGRAM-ID.The problem is, that classes of a java project can not use classes of default package, e.g. we can instanciate the programs but not the copies .Is there a possibility to compile all copies a package mycopies, maybe with an directive ?Thanks a lot !

PROBLEM: When executing the statement ACCEPT OMITTED BEFORE TIME 0 runtime 10.2.1 could crash when it is executed in Thin Client mode. A Memory Access Violation (MAV) can be experienced on the client, as a result of this crash. RESOLUTION: There are various workarounds available: - set ECN-4576 OFF in the runtime configuration file; - modify the COBOL code to have a different TIME value. For example: ACCEPT OMITTED BEFORE TIME 1 (or any other value different from zero). A final fix is developed and will be deployed in AcuConnect Thin Client 10.3.0. #TipfromSupport

PROBLEM: An ACUCOBOL-GT application can be executed as-it-is in multiple modes, such as a standalone runtime installation, an AcuConnect Thin Client environment, the newest AcuToWeb mode. The developer can anyway decide that some piece of code can be optimized for each of these environments. Is there a way to identify the mode the program is executed in, so that a different branch of code can be run? RESOLUTION: Starting with AcuToWeb 10.2.0, the runtime can return more information when executing ACCEPT TERMINAL-ABILITIES FROM TERMINAL-INFO. The known TERMINAL-NAME field has now been improved to contain "AcuToWeb" when the program is executed in this environment.
