Hello, I'm trying to migrate an application from Visual Cobol / Linux / Oracle to Visual Cobol / Linux / Postgres. Visual Cobol use openEsql to precompile sources with SQL, and need to used ODBC driver to connect to postgres database. But i've got this error :  ORDER : OPEN CURPARMODMESSAGE SQL : ERROR: column eg_parmod.oid does not exist; I work with PG13. Do i need to change my database physical model ? Who needs oid ? OpenEsql ? ODBC (I use postgresqlodbc 13.02 driver) What is the solution to use my default database physical model ? thank you for your help. Laurent.

in the example i can see any changes in the syntax 1. colonconlonsyntax.cbl move 5 to v::x move 3 to v::y 2. localvariables.cbl declare result as numTd = ws-num1 + ws-num2 3. mergesort.cbl see arr::numbers-length, section with Parameters, declare 4. Parameterizedsection.cbl section with Parameter fibonacci section (n as binary-long) returning result as binary-long. i know this possibility from SAP ABAP, but never seen before in cobol is there a complete list of all changes on cobol syntax and the new possibilities? We use @USER0 for an application-level constant.  We set it in the LOGIN paragraph & it should remain constant. I've seen it sometimes - but not always  - get set to 0 after/while? I've used/exited(?)/re-entered(?) RAID.  I haven't pinned down what triggers  it. Ironically, the reassuring thing is that RAID is disgustingly buggy.  I've had problems in RAID that don't happen when real users run things for real.  So it's probably ok in production.  Probably. Hello, forum, I have a system that has been out of sync for 15 days. It was working with MIMIX and its journals are still active we want to use them for ICluster. How can I use those journals to continue the synchronization? Or is there any audit that can validate and synchronize the unsynchronized objects and files?

Hi，I try to run a model training task on a power8 CPU + GPU server. I used provided env yaml to create my conda enviroment, the installation is successful, but when I attempt to run Python or any Python-related package, I encounter illegal instruction errors. I check the python-config, the CFLAG for python3.9 is -mcpu=power9 -mtune=power10 -mcpu=power9 -mtune=power10, however my cpu is power 8, this might be the problem.  I checked conda package provided by RocketCE， there is only one python3.9 package, which is the one i'm using.  Here are some details of my problem. We have encrypted a number of files. We can grant access to those encrypted files by using the GRANT.KEY command - but this only seems to work for USERS - if we specify a GROUP, then users that belong to that group cannot access the file. The documentation isn't clear on what type of GROUP is being specified - whether this is a Windows group, or a QM group (as defined in ADMIN.USER). We have tried both types of group and still get the same result. Has anyone else used this feature, and have you been able to define group access for an encrypted file? For a conversion project at a customer with 4000 custom programs written over 30 years we're trying to get a handle on which programs are actively used.  One idea that's been floated is running a monitoring program as root from the demo account that does the pseudo code below. By definition we'll be running this in production for a month or three, and there's some justified nervousness about any potential performance impacts.  I don't think the monitoring program will be a performance hog itself, but not sure if doing PORT.STATUS on the probed program has any effect - does it "pause" the probed program so the stack collected is consistent for example?  We're not expecting to get 100% coverage from this, but even 80% would be a huge help. Anyone ever done something like this for real?  Any war stories or hard-won words of wisdom to share?  Thanks for reading! I am writing a program and i need to connect to an Azure Database to do inserts.  Our db does not allow Entra account logins  the program can be visual cobol or visual cobol .net  which ever will work I am looking for a connection string.

Could you please provide an example of calling Java from Visual Cobol ? Including parameter and return value ? I wondering what others do for pessimistic locking strategies. D3's normal READU will lock a record for that PIB, and that execute level, which is good, and it is the behavior all D3 Basic programs probably use.  My character based apps allow a user to "push" a level, so if you were in a customer maintenance screen,  for example, the customer record ABCD would be locked, and if you pushed a level in that screen  and used a menu selection to open a new customer maintenance screen and tried to edit ABCD, it would locked via the normal READU behavior. This would work the same if some other user on another PIB had  ABCD locked.  With  a Java Swing app using MVSP, because it's a GUI, I can have multiple windows opened at the same time, so I could have 2 (or 200)  customer maintenance screens open and clearly don't want to edit the same record on more than one screen.  If I used one D3 connection per open window, I'd pretty soon run out of user licences, so I'm only using one D3 connection f

Ran into a problem on an Azure RHEL 9 instance where D3_setup could not execute anything out of the /tmp directory resulting in a failed install (/usr/bin/d3 missing, etc.). If you run into this, do the following as root: mount -o remount,suid,exec /tmp You should also alter the /etc/fstab to make this permanent after a Linux reboot. Find this:/dev/mapper/rootvg-tmplv   /tmp   xfs  defaults,rw,nosuid,noexec,nodev,relatime  0 0 change this part:nosuid,noexec to this:suid resulting in this:/dev/mapper/rootvg-tmplv   /tmp   xfs  defaults,rw,suid,nodev,relatime  0 0 While not related to D3 installation, it might be a good idea to make the same changes for the /home directory so that you can execute out of the /home directory as well. Hi, I’am not a cobol programmer. For a work I need to read vision files because I need to integrate two different systems. I can read it correctly using vutil -unload and parsing the fixed record structure file it will give me in output. As the file is very big, this process requires time to read and parse the entire vision file every time. I found the extract option of vutil with which I can specify a key value to start with. However I cannot understand how I can specify this value when the primary key of the vision file has multiple parts.#vutil#AcuCobol
