Hello, Our apps are written in SB+ which use a cached opened files, in named common block SBPLUS & SBFILES, of 30 + 750 = 780 filevars (result of OPEN file TO filevar from BASIC). Some of our app's files are indexed, dynamic or distributed.  It means, with 780 cached filevars, we open more than 1000 os file.  With release 11.x we are used to set MFILES 3000 without never a trouble.  Now r12, r14 introduce SESSION_NFILES limit. Which is session's ActiveFileTable instance. SESSION_NFILES is not defined in uvconfig. CONFIG ALL report SESSION_NFILES = 800 ; aka. MFILES x 4) Then, at basic runtime we encounter OPEN file to fv ELSE CRT STATUS() =  -25 which is Exceeded SESSION_NFILES file table resource.  I try to push MFILES from 200 to 300 or set SESSION_NFILES to 2000 in uvconfig ...  - uvregen accept it  - at uv -admin -start I get  StartService failed (1068)  minidumpexception* Unhandled Exception raised at address 0xE7261759 : Acces

Hi we define an extra partition TD queue pointing to an existing file and an existing path with initial state = open , file type=normal. print attributes= No control , I/O type=Output and Disposition =MOD But the region starts we get  CASAM2022E Error opening extra partition destination (CSSl) group(XFHOPER) status=(3,009) file=status=1 means open error  file=statis=9 means error What RTS error means? Currently, running 34 jobs in scheduler.  Recently, the scheduler stopped running on 7/21/2024 and started backup on its own on 7/31/2024. Any idea why this would happen?  Are there any updates to address this? hello,  Under UV r14, these 2 uvconfig GLM_MEM_ALLOC / N_GLM_SELF_BUCKET are documented as :  GLM_MEM_ALLOC - The number of lock nodes allocated for each memory request. This parameter is highly application dependent. if the application requires a large number of locks in one transaction, this setting should be increased to the maximum number of locks per transaction * 2.  N_GLM_SELF_BUCKET - The number of hash buckets for the per-process locking table. This parameter is highly application dependent, If the application requires a large number of locks in one transaction (more than 20), you should increase this setting to the closest prime number to the maximum number of locks per transaction.  So, they are delivered  GLM_MEM_ALLOC 10 N_GLM_SELF_BUCKET 23 So, I try to set locks with READU and I have no problem to set 30'000 locks in one basic loop !  Are they not used if SYSTEM_BUFFER = 0 ?  Thanks for any explain. manu

Hi all,   Is it possible in AccuTerm to call another project from a command button in a different project. I have developed a Customer Maintenance Project with 5 screens and a Customer Enquiry Project with 7 screens. But my customer has now asked to be able to Call the Maintenance Project while in the middle of an Enquiry when they have noticed a problem that need updating, i.e.  wrong phone number.    can this be done or do I need to redevelop my whole maintenance again inside the Enquiry. I would like to deepen my knowledge of Visual Cobol. I use the Personal Edition for this. Is it possible to use the IMTK in the edition? It seems to me that I cannot make the Enterprise Server available for the Personal Edition.

We have RM installed on an older server and we are trying to update/upgrade the server so it was decided we would stand up a new server and install COBOL from scratch on it. the server its on currently is an old fedora build, and the new one is Debian 12 32bit. we have tried to install on ubuntu 20.4, fedora 40, and now debian 12 32 bit and every time it will run the install.sh file and say        RM/COBOL Installation ___________________________ (press system cancel key to abort) Operating system detected: and then just crash out to the terminal. would it be due to it being too old of a version of RM to work on the new system? or is it only good for one install? any ideas????? file systems are ext4. #RMCOBOL#RMCobol

I am indexing a 21,000,000 record file on the invoice date.  It is a single value field, and when I build the index it works correctly based on the records in the file at the time of the build.  After that, new records or changed records are NOT added to the index. Is there a setting related to indexing that must be set to auto update the index? I have read all the UniData documentation on indexing that I can find. I have a simple cobol program that currently receives a json payload from another cobol program (via an API type call).  We have a need for a C++ program to be able to pass the same json string to the cobol program via the existing api calling method (currently oracle tuxedo). I have a working cpp client and its json is structured correctly, the json it pretty simple and is along the lines of the following: { "APICALL": {"APINAME":"DUMMYAPI", "APIPARAMS": {"PARM1":"VALUE1", "PARM2": "VALUE2"}}} The cobol program that is receiving the API call needs to extract the APINAME and pass the APIPARAMS string when calling the cobol module named in "APINAME". I need to be able to just pass the value of APIPARAMS on, if I have something like the following defined: 01 API-CALL. 03 API-NAME PIC X(30). 03 API-PARAMS PIC X(400). If I "JSON PARSE" it I end up with binary "junk" in API_PARAMS (API-NAME is spot on) in my cobol program, unless I call if from another cobol program.  When that

In AccuTerm Tools Tab -> Settings -> Connection -> Secure Shell there is an option for Authentication -> public key In the Private key submenu, there are several options to find the private key. I don't see any outside authenticators such as  ssh-agent and/or pageant.  Can AccuTerm be configured to use one of these ? Windows now provides ssh-agent. Pageant has become a defacto standard for this.

I have a question on RM/COBOL program(s) and its relation to CPU usage.  I have around 10 Cobol programs use to run for long on Linux machine. Linux machine has 8 CPUs. I noticed all programs is trying to use 1-2 CPU while other remain unutilized. Programs are running slow. Is there way to optimized CPUs usage so that 1 RM/COBOL program run per CPU?  #Linux#RM/COBOL

I am writing a basic program to execute programs in phantom mode. Right now, the main program executes all of the individual programs at 1 am. Will be adding in features to specify what time to start each individual program at, what frequency (daily,monthly,etc), pause the individual program . If you can think of any other features that may be helpful, please let me know. Eventually I plan on releasing the program for anyone's use. We have a multi-valued field that is being exploded for a sort. The dictionary item calls a program to convert the value. When we were on D3, this worked correctly. When we moved to Jbase, the sort failed. It seems to only sort on the first multi-value of each record selected. The program call was originally in <8> of the dict item. Another developer moved it to <7> after the issue was discovered. That worked fine for a while as the order of the original format sorted very close to the sort of the updated format. However, additional changes have been made that now make it obviously incorrect. <8> is the proper location for this call. The subroutine being called does use a few ACCESS references. At first I thought it might be something there, but it does do the conversion correctly. So the outputted data is correct with its format, but the sort result is wrong. Hi Guys, According to the manual the D3 -d command  -d data.arg Stacks data for the process once it is activated. The data argument specified is any string that contains displayable characters and commands prefixed by a backslash. Hello, I want to use ODBC connection to postgres database  with a cobol SQL program (Visual Cobol + oesql). I've got this error : SQL CODE : 000019520-ORDER : OPEN CURPARMODMESSAGE SQL : Connection does not support HOLD cursors How can i configure my ODBC.ini to work correctly with HOLD cursor Or is there a postgres ODBC driver on Linux with HOLD cursor capability ? hello, So, Universe >= r12 use the same lock system like Udt, I'm looking to deeply understand/tune it. For admin & troubleshooting, there is a tool uvglm_tool / glm_tool  and uvulc_tool / ulc_tool, but they are not documented or I do not found any docs about it nor in Unidata docs.    Is there anyone who have details about it ? How to read the info, use it ? when i convert a .h file with h2cpy.exe the names are cut on 30 characters. Is there a option to keep the long names from the h file? in Visual Cobol 9.x h2cpy.exe is not here i missed so many thinks in VC as Type Library, h2cpy, out directory, etc Thanks for help cg
