This article provides information and COBOL code to create USPS Intelligent Mail barcodes. Problem: The Intelligent Mail barcode, formerly referred to as the 4-State Customer barcode, is a new Postal Service barcode used to sort and track letters and flats. The Postal Service is promoting use of the Intelligent Mail barcode because it expands the ability to track individual mailpieces and provides customers with greater visibility into the mailstream. However, the creation of the barcode is complex and uses bit manipulations not familiar in COBOL. USPS provides a subprogram for several platforms, but an ‘all COBOL’ solution is more portable. Resolution: RM/COBOL provides logical bit manipulation capabilities in its subprogram library. The attached RM/COBOL program makes use of these capabilities to implement the algorithm set forth in USPS-B-3200, without use of the DLL and shared object libraries made available by the USPS. We recently got an email from our security team regarding an ODBC vulnerability notice sent out from Microsoft. We are not currently using ODBC directly with UniVerse but it's probably still in use by our guys doing SQL. Just curious if anyone else has had to deal with this and if there are any results that may help others in the group. Several issues related to the use of the ZMF-Db2 stored procedure, trigger and user defined function (UDF) utility module, CMNDB2DD, have recently been reported. Namely: - OCTCR46A369002 CMNDB2DD abends processing Db2 stored procedures held in zFS library types - OCTCR46A368009 CMNDB2DD fails with SQL -104 processing external SQL stored procedure with HLLX active - OCTCR46A368007 CMNDB2DD truncates DDL when SQUEEZE=YES and HLLX routine are both supplied - OCTCR46A368004 S878 abends running CMNDB2DD with HLLX for large numbers of components ChangeMan ZMF 8.2 Patch 7 and 8.3-compatible hotfixes (ZMF8.2.7.027 and ZMF8.3.0.034, respectively) have now been produced to resolve all the issues listed above. Status: DeliveredThis change (i.e. the introduction of the APRV0003 exit) has been completed and will be delivered with ZMF 8.3 patch 1  We have come across a requirement where certain information needs to be communicated to the package approver for verification/consideration before they give a package approval. In our case, the approve/reject HLLX program will automatically determine when this information needs to be presented to the package approver via the "longMsg" variable.  However, the challenge is that there is no APRV0003 (pre approver entity list) HLLX exit point associated with the CMNAPPLS ISPF panel; there is only an APRV0103 (post approver entity list) HLLX exit point.  Though it is possible to communicate this information to the package approver via APRV0103, the information ends-up being communicated to the package approver after a package's approval-related action is done.  (Granted, some tricky coding can be done with the h

Hi Team, We are exploring multiple tools for the POC to do iSeries rpg program code analysis and migration. we tried  to explore more on enterprise Analyzer but due to some limitation on trail version unable to explore more on this. I have a client that runs Universe processes from cron. They do it by running a shell script that changes to the desired Universe folder and then execute "uv SOME.COMMAND".  Universe starts up and runs that command. The problem is, it first runs the LOGIN proc so if there's a menu, it displays that and only runs the command when they exit. They've gotten around that by checking to see if the user is running as root (which is how their cron jobs run) and going directly to TCL if that's the case. That works but has some issues. Is there any way to start Universe in an account but tell it to not run the account logon procs? Alternatively, is there any way from a basic program to tell if Universe was started with a command line argument? When you run uv with a command, does it push it onto the stack? How does it all work?

Greetings!Can someone point me to where on the Rocket site I can find high-level documentation regarding UniVerse EDA?  I have the docs that come with the UV 1.3.5 Documentation packet, but those are more setup and admin.  I'm looking for something I can use to help explain to those above me what it is and why we should use it - kind of like an executive summary/white paper.  I am hoping for more than the page that says "EDA is wonderful - contact us for more info", but less than the config/admin docs. I thought I had found it many moons ago, but am not having any luck today.  I am apparently not very good at searching for things on the Rocket site. Thanks!!Brian

ChrisI've been trying to compile test1.cbl as per the sample given in www.microfocus.com/.../dcchar.htm chapter 3 and using 32-bit Object COBOL in Windows Terminal (and tried also in Visual COBOL command prompt.).I compile to TEST1.GNT. Then choose F6=Run but the screen remains blank.There is a TEST1W.EXE created but running this just gives a blinking cursor. Recompiling gave TEST1WG.EXE. Running this showed a COBOL Text Window but again with just a blinking cursor.Previous attempts to run the program gave a message that 'DSRUN' cannot be found in the file or folder.  I have set up a batch file to provide the COBOL environment and pointers to the DSChar\\bin folder so I'm not sure where it is trying to find 'DSRUN'.There is a dsrun.dll and a couple more .dlls as well as dsch.exe, which I've used to create the screen set in DSChar\\bin.So is there a DSRUN.EXE?Are the DS object modules (Chapter 14, Linking, e.g, dsrun.obj, dscrun etc) not included in this

We have the Reflection Desktop Pro version installed in our desktops. And, I use the command line utility of ssh command offered by the software. When I run ssh in the windows terminal/ConEmu emulator, it clears the screen and jump to the top of the terminal to open an interactive session of a remote host which is annoying from user experience.  Ex - ssh -q -o GSSAPIAuthentication=yes <username>@<host> - When I run it in the windows cmd, it runs and authenticates. Once authentication is done, clears the screen and jumps to the top of the terminal to open a session. How can I restrict this behaviour ? Note - in Intellij, it works fine in place. Doesn't clear the screen. Similarly, when we run the command in verbose mode, it does not clear the screen and jumps to the top. And, openssh also works fine in place for windows cmd without clearing the screen and jumps to the top of the terminal. Only this micro focus installed ssh.exe causes an issue. Status: New IdeaIn ZMF4ECL 83, when we edit COBOL program, we use Smart Editor Integration. But every time we open a Changeman member the following dialog box opens : It is displayed even if you do not open a Cobol program (for example a REXX). We need a way to stop opening this dialog box. Hey all,First time posting so I hope I'm in the correct area. Please correct me if I'm wrong.With the recent dropping of OpenSSL 1.1.1 support, I'm wondering if there has been communications from Rocket Software to support OpenSSL 3 for UniData 8.2.4. This is going to be a huge pain-point for our organization and are trying to prevent issues stemming from this if at all possible.From reading about OpenSSL 1.1 vs OpenSSL 3, there is a possibility of applications that use 1.1 to work with 3.0, but there's no guarantee. The dual terminal debugging feature seems to have stopped working correctly. I am on Windows 11 running Unidata 8.2.3. I used to use this feature heavily when debugging character base screens. Without duel terminal, that task is very difficult. When a debug is encountered, the cmd line program first shows "!" as it should but entry of any valid debug command returns: ***Illegal debugger command. Hi, I am trying to allocate only the needed amount of memory when working with static tables in cobol. The table(which is part of a data-area) is then used as a parameter in json generate statement. Suppose there are two programs. Program TestA and TestB. TestA calls TestB which is the one responsible to allocate n amount of memory depending on the size of the table. This means that even though the table has a boundary of 50000 items I want that the amount of byte allocated to the data-area should be less than that(depending on the amount of items populated which is known only in runtime).Below is the an example: program-id. UFT 2023 is unable to spy the terminal objects in Rumba 6.9 w2h Host access web launcher and I have tried several way to identify and still it is not capturing. Version Rumba WebToHost 6.9.3  Since Internet explorer is stopped and my org blocked it and only way is to use Host access launcher and I am not sure how to automate it..#MainframeAccess#Rumba#EHLAPI32.DLL

Is anyone using IBM's CSSMTP SMTP client to send out the email notifications? Did you have to make any changes to the CMNS$$ENT, ENOTIFY2 sample? We are on v8.2 patch 5. Our reason for our wanting to use CSSMTP is make use of its ability to use AT-TLS when connecting to a remote SMTP server. TIA#ChangeManZMF

Is there a simple way of having selectdb pay attention to the retrieve profile?
