It as puzzling for a while trying to determine whether the hang was occurring, but I ran a program on their system through a Citrix connection with the debugger and I happened to catch it. The debugger hits an OPEN I-O statement and it locks up.In the Samba config file, they have "oplocks = false" set. We've previously found that the default of oplocks = true causes corruption in the files. But I can't see why an OPEN I-O would hang. If I start another instance of the runtime, it can do an OPEN I-O of the same file, even while the other instance is sitting there locked up.NOTE: AcuServer is not an option. I'm sure it would help, but we use only perhaps 3 Vision files - the rest of the data is stored in

[Migrated content. Thread originally posted on 05 February 2003]Has anyone had any success using/making the precompiler? I would like to conditionally compile certain files based on certain circumstances. In particular, I am considering using the I$IO routine as a general replacement for all file actions. Using it is much less tedius than writing the select, file descriptor, etc. It would also provide the nice benefit of being able to access files by a variable filename (and with a little work, by field name via a special call) I would like to conditionally compile the .fd files (using C preprocessor syntax). #ifdef _FILE-CONTROL FD MY-FILE LABEL RECORDS ARE STANDARD RECORD CONTAINS 300 CHARACTERS DATA RECORD IS MY-FILE-RECORD. 01 MY-FILE-RECORD. 05 MY-KEY-1. ...#endifIn the file control section, I could #define _FILE-CONTROLIn FILE-CONTROL, in front of the copy commands, I could#define _FILE-CONTROLIn working storage, I

I have users that log in multiple times from the same terminal. How is this affecting the user count?Previously, if a user was logged in 2 times, they just had 2 processes. Now are they counted as 2 users?

It would be great to know if someone else was using the same ActiveX-control, and then be able to share this information. When I visit the developers forum for the ActiveX-control I am struggling with nowadays, noone understands Cobol, it's just VB, C, and Delphi-guys there. So - we are using products from Developers Express, particularly the QuantumGrid (http://www.devexpress.com/products/activex/index.asp).What are you all using?

[Migrated content. Thread originally posted on 28 November 2002]We experience often that we get the error 9D04 when a file is accessed. 04 says "The system cannot open the file". If they try again, they normally get access to the file. This is a Citrix-environment, and I suspect that this is a Citrix-related problem. My hardware-guys is somewhat hard to convince about this, so I would like to hear if someone here has experienced problems with Citrix like this?

My system keeps locking up after selecting the printer this way. After the system locks up with the -Q assignment, if I go to the settings, printer selection, all my window printers are gone. After rebooting the printer icons reappear. If I use -d LPTn, it never locks up but I do occaisonaly get status 94's, no printer found. This is a NOvell network so I can't use -d //que name printer name. This type of assignment is not supported by Novell (at least that's what acucorp support tells me)

The only thing that we notice with 5.2 is a bit of a slowdown in opens/closes which we expected. Could be something to do with the way your terminal services is setup, memory allocation and such.

[Migrated content. Thread originally posted on 19 November 2002]Hi Ryan,If you haven't already, you will want to contact Acucorp Technical Support to discuss these issues (Acucorp does not provide technical support through this forum). With that said, there was a change to version 5.2.1 which is no doubt related to some of the v5.2.1 behavior you describe. From the v5.2.1 release notes:===================================File Access to Windows Shared Files===================================On Windows systems, the speed of file access to Vision files located on a Windows shared drive can be variable. The cause of this variability is attributed to an imperfect interaction between the way the Windows operating system handles file locks and the way it caches shared files on the local system. In Version 4.3.1, to improve performance, the method used to access Vision files on Windows shared drives was changed. Subsequently, although most users have experienced good performance and no p
