Dear Sir, I am Getting the Error enclosed when I Build an Application in Visual Cobol fot Visual Studio. I am a first time user. I downloaded the trial version with eclipse. I followed it's getting started example til it told me to choose new>project>COBOL. There is on COBOL anything in the list. Any ideas?

Hello,I've got a question regarding file locking and the 'wholock' utility.  I'm running on Solaris 10 with version cat $COBDIR/etc/cobvercobol v5.0.00-ePRN=R9CTH/AAH:9l.a5.50.03PTI=WrapPack 4 (7276.7659)PTI=ESPTI=Fixpack50.03_13 Process A is reading a file with fcd.LockModeFlags,FCD_LM_MANUAL. wholock shows that process A holds 0 read and 1 write lock. Process 26709 (user1) on tty ? holds 0 read and 1 write locks What confuses me is that while Process A holds a write lock, Process B is able to WRITE and REWRITE records on that same file with no problems.  Should this be possible and can I rely on 'wholock'? If I have to make a certain field of a record larger I use to define the new PIC biger, example PIC x(20)  to PIC X(30).  But afterwards it is necesary to convert the old file to the new structure.  That is quite tedious, because I have to read the old file, move all the corresponding fields to the new, write the new record. If that is finished I must rename the new file so that it has the old name. This procedure Works good, but is sometimes a big job just for this conversión. Does someone know an easier method?   MOVE CORR helps a litle bit, but not at all. Thanks for any help Rolf

When downloading the VS Cobol PE; I receive a message that indicates I need to download Visual Studio 2012 Content Help Manager?

I have two solutions running on one server, one is a managed code windows based application, the second is old mainframe code that is running in naïve code.  My managed code application runs fine, but when I try to start one of the naïve code program .exe, I get an error message 245 no valid product license.  Do I have something setup incorrect?  Confused how one solution can find the license but not the other. I am fetching an excel file into an acu grid but some cells isnt transfered properly. An excel cell of text format that contains "1" its tranfered as "1,000000000000000E0" in the Acu Grid. Dear All, I Make the LINK in Windows following the instruction given for Micro Focus : The LINK RUN Well Then I Tested the program : Not RUN well (Was generated as ojala.int) Then I Generated the program as Ojala.exe : The  program Generated the POP UP Windows that we were finding. Problem: The error “Micro Focus License Manager service is not running” almost always occurs when attempting to RUN a COBOL application – eg on a production machine with Application Server/Server for COBOL installed. However, there are circumstances when this error might also occur when building a Project in the Net Express IDE. Ver 2.2.00247 Please Run the projects submitted in visual studio platform and copy them to Visual Cobol for Eclipse and see what does not work. Please send us the solution for V. Problem: After upgrading Visual COBOL to Version 2.2 Update 1 the following error may be encountered when using Managed Code Projects where code does not use specific properties of a method: COBCH1712 <object type> has no visible instance method '<value>' with 0 parameters. Resolution: The release notes of Visual COBOL 2.2 Update 1 state: In member reference in managed COBOL syntax, parentheses can only be used when referencing methods. Parentheses can no longer be used when referencing fields or properties, as this will produce a syntax error. Hi, I'm trying to disable opportunistic locking, and I've been reading documentation in this same foro about it. My question is the next: I'm using mapped drives to access to vision files (not acuserver). Would it be enough by turning off opportunistic locking from client pc, or should I turn off opportunistic locking in the 'server' machine too? The problem is that I never know if the opportunistic locking is disabled in the server machine, while I'm running the application from the client. Thanks and regards

Hi all I cannot get the runtime tunable command_line_linkage to work.  There is warning in the documentation that this works only for executables.  Does this mean this tunable will not work for program compiled to GNT or INT? I am using NetExpress 5.1 with MTO regardsRico
