Problem: When you are running an INT within the Net Express IDE, you will get a separate window for the result of the ATTRIB command. This is normal since the INT is always running in a window mode or environment in the Net Express IDE, which forces the operating system to open another window for the "DOS" ATTRIB command. On the other hand, running the EXE from the Net Express IDE will not be in window mode since your application is linked as a character interface application. Therefore, this will run as a "DOS" application, i.e. not in window mode. For that reason, you get to see two different results from running the INT and EXE within the Net Express IDE. Resolution: If you run the INT from the Net Express command prompt with the command RUN.EXE, you will get the same result as running the EXE within the Net Express IDE. The key here is that you have to run your application in window mode. That is, you have to link your EXE as a graphical int

Problem: Which logging level of EL Server is enough for support to investigate problems that are not reproduceable? Resolution: EnterpriseLink Server uses Logging Level configuration settings to determine how much information is placed in the Server.log file. The configuration setting is under EnterpriseLink Administrator's Site --> Configuration --> Messages and Logs tab. The Server.log file is placed in the EnterpriseLink installation directory's logs directory. Problem: If you sub-classed an entry field to be able to trap F10 or F3 or any other function keys, the TAB event will not work. Resolution: This simply means that you need to trap also the tab key from your sub-class module the same way you did with the other function keys. Problem: How to trap the F10 event for an entire Dialog System window. Pressing the F10 function key activates the menu in Windows by default, so coding the F10 event in Dialog may not work. There is a Dialog System demo called TrapF10 (on the support site under Net Express example) that demonstrates trapping the F10 key for specific entry fields, but if you want to trap it for the entire window, another method can be used. To trap F10 for the window (instead of individual entry fields), you have to define a shortcut key on a menu item. Define a menu item in the menu bar definition window (Edit Menu Bar) and specify a choice name. The choice name will relate to a window procedure that is named by the choice name and prefixed with an @ sign. In the shortcut key dropdown, choose F10. Problem: Some mainframes use "auto-renewal". This means that when you use emulator software to use a host application, if the "numerical value"(ex . stock value) changes in the system , then the emulator displays new "numerical value" . I think there are 2 types of "auto-renewal". First one is reload, where the emulator reloads automatically. Second one is where the mainframe pushes the information to the emulator and the emulator displays it. Can EnterpriseLink use this functionality? Resolution: There is no 'auto renewal' defined in the 3270 specification from IBM.  Some hosts have the ability to asynchronously send host screen data to the terminal without the user pressing a PF key.  Or, it could be that some terminal emulators implement this by periodically sending an "enter" key to to the host.  Depending upon the host application, this may cause it to refresh the current screen with detailed information. Resolution: Use the pattern match ratios in the Advanced tab of the Remote Administration page. Two parameters affect the fuzzy logic algorithms within EnterpriseLink: the secondary and tertiary pattern match ratios specified here. They determine how a screen is compared at run time to the screen captured at SmartLoader time and customized with SmartBuilder. Tertiary matching is based on the transitions from a prior screen. New transitions are loaded with SmartTran Loader. In other words, if you know that screen H2 is reached after H1 when a PF2 key is pressed, then there should be a transition from H1 to H2 recorded in the Repository. Problem: elcs31sp3cnt.exe has a new feature that outputs some messages about Dr.Watson errors in the Server.log file. The current logging level for Cluster.log at run time is '1'. Is this setting enough for you to investigate a server crash? Resolution: Level 1 will only contain the minimum information, e.g. warnings and errors, so I would suggest running your test at level 3 or above to ensure you capture the trace information as well. Problem: How do you merge an Enterprise Link 3.1 cfg file to version 5.0? Resolution: EnterpriseLink for Solaris keeps configuration settings in a file config/EnterpriseLink.cfg in the EnterpriseLink configuration directory. When installing EnterpriseLink 5.0 it will install EnterpriseLink.cfg with all of the settings needed for correct EnterpriseLink 5.0 operation.  It will not copy your EnterpriseLink 3.1 configurations, you must make changes manually either using the web page interface through http://machine-name/stadmin or using a text editor such as "vi" on Solaris.
