I didn't find Visual COBOL Development Hub in the list of product to download since 8.0 version. Why ?
Hi, I created a new project under the following platform: Windows Forms Control Library(.NET Framework). It comes with a template code. I want to run the application before I add any new code but I encounter the following error: "A .NET project with Output Type Class Library cannot be started correctly. In order to debug this project, add an executable project to this solution which references the library project. Set the executable project as the startup project "I do not know how to make the changes that the error messages suggest that I make to the project. I am including screenshots with this discussion.
Hello there, we are currently migrating from Visual Cobol for Eclipse 7 to Visual Cobol for Eclipse 9. A few users of our users have already installed the new Version Visual Cobol for Eclipse 9 (PU 04) under Windows. Some of our users experienced the error "Problem occured: 'Debug Source Display' has encountered a problem. An internal error has occured - Null argument" while debugging. While Debugging, a window pops up with that error message, and after closing the error-window, no more Cobol sources nor Cobol copies are displayed, but the debugger is still attached. Eclipse then asks for cobol copy (ALCTRCMA.cpy), which should be familiar, because it is already known to the project. The error window itself pops up, after taking a few steps (F5) in the Remote Debugging perspective. I attached a screenshot of the issue in question. At the top you can see the error in the Debugging perspective. Then a new window pops up if I want to select a new context (doesn't help). At the bott

Greetings Micro Focus Community! We use RM/Cobol with the WOW Extension Designer. There are three functions that are pretty commonly referenced in our applications called WOWSETPROP, WOWGETPROP, and AXDOMETHOD. I see they use a variety of parameters/methods like 'SortColumn', 'ListIndex', 'Text', etc. Does anyone know if there is documentation out there for all of the available parms for WOWSETPROP, WOWGETPROP, and AXDOMETHOD?
Hi All, We are migrating our 32-bit application from Solaris to RHEL 8.8. We are using Enterprise Developer 6 and planning to upgrade it to 8 once the migration is completed with the same configuration as in Solaris. We are running Cobol program which reads table data and prints accounting extract with credit and debit summary after compiling the Cobol programs in RHEL environment. We are facing rts32 : Error 114 encountered during finalization error when running the .gnt but it is working fine when running with .int. In both the cases Output extract is getting generated successfully and program is not stopping abruptly. In animator we are not getting this error We are using the same compile scripts in both the platforms, we have not changed any settings cobrun /tlcapp/bin/<program_name>.gnt --> Output file is getting generated as expected but getting error as rts32 : Error 114 encountered during finalization cobrun /tlcapp/bin/<program_name>.int --&g

Is it possible to write COBOL code that will print text (not on the screen but to an actual printer) in a specific font. For example, is it possible to write code that will print to my printer the line “Test 1” in sans-serif or in any other font that I choose? I am able to print bold text on my printer with the WRITE statement, but I simply do not know how to print text in a specific font with a COBOL command. I am using Visual COBOL v9 on a Windows 10 pro. Thanks in advance.
I am developing a COBOL application that will print checks. The application creates an .asc file containing the HP PCL printer language with all the information, including font type and size, that will be printed on the check. However, I am having a difficult time with the routing and account number line. More specifically, I am unable to print the routing and account number in the IDAutomation MICR font, which is the standard font used to print the routing and account number on checks. It instead prints in regular font. I should mention that I print the .asc file through File\\print in Notepadd++ and not through the COBOL application. To be clear, the font is installed on the computer, and I am able to print a word document with said font. Here is what the .asc file containing the PCL code for the IDAutomation MICR font looks like: <ESC>(s1p10.0h12.0v0s0b24700T 12345 <ESC>(10U<ESC>(s0p12h12.0v0s0b0T Explanation of the code: <ESC>(s1p10.0h12.0v0s0b
I installed Micro Focus COBOL for Visual Studio 2022. Everything is working except for when I push the enter key in a COBOL file. I get an error popup that says "The operation could not be completed. Unspecified error." I have reinstalled COBOL but the issue is still persisting.
Hi! I have a WPF datagrid in my program, which has an check box in it - <DataGridTemplateColumn Header="Active?" Width="100" > <DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate> <DataTemplate> <CheckBox x:Name="PP_ACTIVE" IsChecked="{Binding XPath=@active, UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged, Mode=TwoWay}" /> </DataTemplate> </DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate> </DataGridTemplateColumn> I am reading data from a file that needs to set the check box if the field in the data is set to "X". How do I do this? The SetAttributes command only works for String fields, and the CheckBox is a a Boolean field. 01 PAYPLAN_DG_XDOC type System.Xml.XmlDocument value new System.Xml.XmlDocument(). 01 DG_ITEM type System.Xml.XmlElement. SET DG_ITEM TO PAYPLAN_DG_XDOC::CreateElement
i have download today visual cobol 10. by compiling my programs without errors on Visual Cobol 9, i become now the error COBCH0314 - illegal key on datio.cpy may be the command "start Datei key not less DATEI-Key0 or "start DATEI key not greater DATEI-Key0 Where can i found if there are new service packs for Visual cobol? is this a bug? no Problem with Netexpress 5.x or vc8 or vc9 thanks for help

Hello, I'm trying to migrate an application from Visual Cobol / Linux / Oracle to Visual Cobol / Linux / Postgres. Visual Cobol use openEsql to precompile sources with SQL, and need to used ODBC driver to connect to postgres database. But i've got this error : ORDER : OPEN CURPARMODMESSAGE SQL : ERROR: column eg_parmod.oid does not exist; I work with PG13. Do i need to change my database physical model ? Who needs oid ? OpenEsql ? ODBC (I use postgresqlodbc 13.02 driver) What is the solution to use my default database physical model ? thank you for your help. Laurent.
in the example i can see any changes in the syntax 1. colonconlonsyntax.cbl move 5 to v::x move 3 to v::y 2. localvariables.cbl declare result as numTd = ws-num1 + ws-num2 3. mergesort.cbl see arr::numbers-length, section with Parameters, declare 4. Parameterizedsection.cbl section with Parameter fibonacci section (n as binary-long) returning result as binary-long. i know this possibility from SAP ABAP, but never seen before in cobol is there a complete list of all changes on cobol syntax and the new possibilities? Thanks in advance cg
Hi, I have postgres installed in linux and have my dsn setup as below odbc.ini[db]Description = PostgreSQL connection to 'db' databaseDriver = PostgreSQLDatabase = dbServername = localhostUserName = dbPassword = passwordTrace = YesTraceFile = /logfilepathPort = actualportnumbr#Protocol = #ReadOnly = No#RowVersioning = No#ShowSystemTables = No#ShowOidColumn = No#FakeOidIndex = No#ConnSettings = When I am logged in as myself, [me@myip ]$ isql db db pass(from dsn) -v SQL> drop table test1;[08S01]Could not send Query(connection dead);Could not send Query(connection dead)[ISQL]ERROR: Could not SQLExecuteSQL> quit But when I am logged as root [root@myip]# isql db db pass(from dsn) -v SQL> drop table test1; is success OR just login with db without explicitly specifying username/pass [root@myip]# isql db -vSQL> drop table test1; is success SQL> SELECT rolname, rolsuper, rolcreaterole, rolcreatedb, rolcanlogin FROM pg_roles; +-----------

Could you please provide an example of calling Java from Visual Cobol ? Including parameter and return value ? I've checked the following site , but it looks a bit complicated and I don't know if it's the only correct way.... https://www.microfocus.com/documentation/visual-cobol/vc60/DevHub/BKDIDIJAFCS005.html Thank you
Hi, I’am not a cobol programmer. For a work I need to read vision files because I need to integrate two different systems. I can read it correctly using vutil -unload and parsing the fixed record structure file it will give me in output. As the file is very big, this process requires time to read and parse the entire vision file every time. I found the extract option of vutil with which I can specify a key value to start with. However I cannot understand how I can specify this value when the primary key of the vision file has multiple parts.#vutil#AcuCobol
I would like to deepen my knowledge of Visual Cobol. I use the Personal Edition for this. Is it possible to use the IMTK in the edition? It seems to me that I cannot make the Enterprise Server available for the Personal Edition.
We have RM installed on an older server and we are trying to update/upgrade the server so it was decided we would stand up a new server and install COBOL from scratch on it. the server its on currently is an old fedora build, and the new one is Debian 12 32bit. we have tried to install on ubuntu 20.4, fedora 40, and now debian 12 32 bit and every time it will run the install.sh file and say RM/COBOL Installation ___________________________ (press system cancel key to abort) Operating system detected: and then just crash out to the terminal. would it be due to it being too old of a version of RM to work on the new system? or is it only good for one install? any ideas????? file systems are ext4. #RMCOBOL#RMCobol
I have a simple cobol program that currently receives a json payload from another cobol program (via an API type call). We have a need for a C++ program to be able to pass the same json string to the cobol program via the existing api calling method (currently oracle tuxedo). I have a working cpp client and its json is structured correctly, the json it pretty simple and is along the lines of the following: { "APICALL": {"APINAME":"DUMMYAPI", "APIPARAMS": {"PARM1":"VALUE1", "PARM2": "VALUE2"}}} The cobol program that is receiving the API call needs to extract the APINAME and pass the APIPARAMS string when calling the cobol module named in "APINAME". I need to be able to just pass the value of APIPARAMS on, if I have something like the following defined: 01 API-CALL. 03 API-NAME PIC X(30). 03 API-PARAMS PIC X(400). If I "JSON PARSE" it I end up with binary "junk" in API_PARAMS (API-NAME is spot on) in my cobol program, unless I call if from another cobol program. When that
I have a question on RM/COBOL program(s) and its relation to CPU usage. I have around 10 Cobol programs use to run for long on Linux machine. Linux machine has 8 CPUs. I noticed all programs is trying to use 1-2 CPU while other remain unutilized. Programs are running slow. Is there way to optimized CPUs usage so that 1 RM/COBOL program run per CPU? #Linux#RM/COBOL
