i can create an unidata account using ext admin tool just fine but in universe (which is where I came from to unidata) there was a uv account that went to a universe menu where you could add/delete accounts amount  a lot of other things, is this not available in unidata?thanksdougc

in the past as these are test VM's running rocky linux on my personal laptop I usually just disable the firewall so I can use ext admin tool to create accounts and suchbut if I wanted to keep the firewall up what ports do I need to open up so I can still access via ext admin tool?thanks

I'd like to get certified as a UniVerse Administrator. Is there any word on when/where MV Universe will be held in 2023? Can I get certified taking an on-line test?Jon

Hello,We have a requirement to upload a file to an AWS endpoint using the POST method and multipart/form-dataWe have the pieces in place and parameters added using addRequestParameter function, however the file is not getting uploaded with its contents. When we check the contents of the file uploaded in the server it contains the filename itself. What are we missing?*---------------HTTP.POST.FILE:*---------------HTTP.METHOD="POST:multipart/form-data"TIMEOUT=3600svc_return_code = setHTTPDefault("VERSION", "1.1")** Create security context*X.SECURE.HANDLE = ""X.CONTEXT.RESULT = createSecurityContext(X.SECURE.HANDLE, "TLSv1.2") ** Create secure request to S3*svc_return_code = createSecureRequest(X.URL, HTTP.METHOD, REQUEST.HANDLE, X.SECURE.HANDLE)** addRequestParameter*rc = addRequestParameter(REQUEST.HANDLE, 'key', X.KEY, '')CRT 'rc key: ':rcrc = addRequestParameter(REQUEST.HANDLE, 'AWSAccessKeyId', X.AWS.ACCESS.KEY, 'multipart/form-data')CRT 'rc AWSAccessKeyId: ':rcrc = addRequestParamete

Hello everyone,We are planning to upgrade our UniVerse (UV) ERP system this year and also do a hardware refresh. We would like the hardware refresh to include running in a VM (we don't currently). Our current UV system is running on an IBM AIX server with Kaminario flash storage (~2TB) with our largest hashed file being 120GB / 23M records.Looking for any insight or opinions related to getting more speed and performance for UniVerse i.e. stick with AIX or go with another UNIX / Linux? Virtualize or don't virtualize? Nutanix VM or something else? Anything better than flash storage from Kaminario? Thanks in advance!

We are trying to add a subroutine call from an existing trigger.  The subroutines are definitely being called and acting appropriately, except when they attempt to write to a log file.Using "ED" to make a simple change in order to force the trigger, we are getting this error:Program "ED":  pc = 748C, Program "XXX": LINE 409, FATAL:  The locks necessary for database operations at the current isolation level (0) are not held by this process. The subroutine is trying to write to a type 19 log file which works fine from other programs. Commenting out the log file write avoids the error. Because of this error, the write to the CUST file (which is the one with the trigger) also fails.I assume this is something unique to the trigger function.  The trigger subroutine is cataloged globally as expected, so I am wondering if that is making file access in the account unavailable some how? This is running in UniVerse 11.3.1Any ideas would be gratefully appreciated.Nelson

Hi All,Is there a way from ECL to generate a list of all indexes on all files? (And the index attributes)I know I can do a LIST.INDEX FN at the ECL prompt file by file, and I could script running through all VOC records that are files, but I cant seem to pipe and append this ouput to a text file. I am running Universe 11.3.4 on RHEL 7.7 using AccuTerm 7.3a as my emulator. When I login normally my backspace works. I need to use root permission for some of my phantoms. At TCL prompt I will SH to Unix level then su to root then uv back to universe. My backspace key quits working.  I can manually fix it by running a PTERM command. Is there away to permanently fix this?Jon CardCombined Transport Inc

I have a UniVerse customer, a county highway department.  Over the years we have accumulated a lot of lat/lon coordinates for different resources.  I would like to propose adding a GIS interface to the system.  My question, has anyone already done this to any multi value database and can you suggest products to research?  I have looked, a little, at ArcGIS because they have some low cost online training.

Years ago, in a different forum, someone posted a proc/paragraph they called LSELECT that, as I recall, allowed you to take a select list of values for a specific attribute in a file and select all the records in that file that contained any of the values in the select list. It was very clever. The machine I installed it on is long since off-line. If anyone else has it, I would love to recreate it on the machine I am on now.BTW, i am using Unidata 8.1

Does a command exist for UniData that will list all the data files with triggers in a data account?I could write a routine to do it, but I'd rather not reinvent a wheel that exists.Thank you

Greetings! We use the replication monitoring phantoms - MONITOR.REPLOG and MONITOR.REPSTATUS.  While we can start/stop/update them manually, we used to have a VB-based application to do so - provided to us by Rocket.  Unfortunately, we've lost that software.  If it's readily available for download on the Rocket site, we have not been able to find it there.Where can I find the VB software for controlling the replication monitoring phantoms? Thanks in advance!Brian Paige

hi folks,I have the session 99 into a READU statement and lock is owned by  port 10 ... then 99 appears into Active waiters as a Waiter and Owner is 10. Now, I want to MASTER OFF 99 ...  nothing occurs ! no message, no error, no result. Is anyone known a method to kill a 'lock Waiter' session ? with kind regards manu

Hello,I am currently developing a tool which uses uopy to call uv subroutines on the server. The solution works perfectly well, until I am trying to pass a large amount of data as one of the arguments. I am getting the following error then:.../uopy/_uniobject.py, line 29, in  _call_server#012 self._session.rpc_call(in_packet, out_packet, in_exec)#012#012 File  .../uopy/_session.py, line 200, in rpc_call#012  self._rpc_connection.call(in_packet, out_packet)#012#012 File  ..../uopy/_unirpc.py, line 72, in call#012  self._read_packet(in_packet)#012#012 File  .../uopy/_unirpc.py, line 123, in  _read_packet#012 in_packet.receive(self.rpc_socket)#012#012 File  .../uopy/_unirpc.py, line 252, in receive#012  self._unpack_header()#012#012 File .../uopy/_unirpc.py, line 398, in  _unpack_header#012 self.header_fields = unpack(_PACKET_MSG_HDR_FMT, self.header_buffer)#012#012struct.error:  unpack requires a buffer of 24 bytes#012#012#012Is

Can anyone tell me if Unidata for windows will run on a chromebook laptop?

Good morning/night!, So I have this little issue when running this little service I'm doing to download files via URL, text part is working correct but when I try to download an image, the image gets corrupted or something because when you open it, it has like a dizzy effect or its green and red directly.I stracted a little code to test the image download which is the following: URL='http://www.google.com/images/branding/googlelogo/1x/googlelogo_light_color_272x92dp.png' DIR.RESPUESTA='COMGATEWAY' NOM.FICH.RESP='logo.png' HTTP.STATUS='' TIME.OUT='1000' DATOS.RESPUESTA='' CABECERA.RESPUESTA='' RESPUESTA=createRequest(URL,'GET',HTTP.HANDLER) RESPUESTA=submitRequest(HTTP.HANDLER,TIME.OUT,'',CABECERA.RESPUESTA,DATOS.RESPUESTA,HTTP.STATUS) CRT 'KG.HTTP: HTTP.STATUS [':HTTP.STATUS:'] ':TIME() * Checks HTTP status IF HTTP.STATUS<1,1>#'200' THEN * Msg 'La respuesta del servidor no ha sido correcta. %1' CALL GENMENSAJE(64746,HTTP.STATUS<1,1>,

Hello community, I am facing this problem and hope anybody could help me. My site is running Unidata over Windows Server and MVIS to provide webservices. The problem is when the webservice receive extended characters, for example: á,é,ñ,Ñ and so on, the webservice subroutine uses UDO object to get the data from JSON parameter and write it to the file, but in this case of special characters, the data saved is completely different with other characters. And it is worse when that same data is pulled out by other webservices. All third-party providers that my site interact with indicate that the application cannot handle UTF-8 encoding properly.I will appreciate any help you could provide me.Thanks.

Hello,Im using XDOM api in Universe 11.3.1 and I'm trying to import 'an xml fragment' from string into a current nodeHandle.Explanations :1 - Im creating an handle with XDOMOpen 2 - Im appending a node into this handleExample, at this time, my handle is a tree like this :<root>  <child>  </child></root> 3 - Im using XDOMLocate to get a new handle to "child" node, nammed childNodeHandle.4 - Now, I want to append to childNodeHandle an 'xml fragment' from a string (for example '<subChild><subSubChild><subSubSubChild></subSubSubChild></subSubChild></subChild>')Problem : if I do a new XDOMOpen with this fragment and get a fragmentHandle, I cant use XDOMIAppend/XDOMInsert(childNodeHandle....fragmentHandle) because childNodeHandle and fragmentHandle are not in the same tree in memory - its normal (I got this error  : DOM Exception code: 4 (A node is used in a different document than the one that created it (that d

We currently have two dll installed one for pdf creation and one for qr creation, we did both of them back in 2012.   And of course our notes from then are spars.  We'd like to add another dll for excel creation.   I'm assuming that in 2015 we were using Visual Studio 2012 to compile and link the C code.   We're using VS2019 to do the same for the new dll.   dumpbin for the original two dll's shows linker version 11 (which I believe is VS2012).  When we manually install the dll into bin and add the entry to gci.admin (and confirm the addition to the registry).   we can't get the new dll to show up in GCI.NTMAP.B (the exist two dll's do, with there functions listed). My question(s).   Is there any log file that shows any hint of why the new dll wouldn't load?    Or if VS2019 would not work on win2012r2 or universe 11.2.4?I also, walked through the auto creation of the multiply example (ie gci.admin,

Hey everyone, complete noob here who has been tasked with implementing some stuff with uopy.We have been reviewing the security of our proposed setup and have a few questions around uopy, the Unix user and the UniVerse user that we can't find any definitive answers for, so I'm hoping somebody in the community can lead us to the right bit of documentation for these:1. It seems that uopy has the capability to run SH commands (limited by the VOC?).  Is there a way to completely disable SH?  My limited understanding is that the VOC can be written to by the UniVerse user so can they re-enable access to SH by themselves?2. The uopy library seems to require a Unix user to operate.  If we disable the shell in /etc/passwd (or point their shell entry to /bin/false or something), would that have the effect of also disabling SH access via UniVerse?3. If we have to have a Unix user for our uopy to operate, can be make ownership of all their files read-only so they can't be modified?&

hello,If I want to use U2PY (not UOPY)  I do not understand what type of connection (identification/authentification) occurs ?  Is it a heritance of the current (shell) session on the server ? and by the way which uvengine is used ? (uvsh, uvapi_..., ?) .  Thanks for any detail.Manu

hi everybody, question how to known the LOCK waiters : -- a/ session1 set a task synchronization lock  with LOCK 9   b/ session2 will set a task synchronization lock  with LOCK 9  without PROMPT NO.WAIT nor  ELSE on basic. (yes bad coding but legacy :-)then session2 is suspended until session1 UNLOCK 9 So, for admin point of view, is there a method to list 'LOCK ' waiters ?like ... session2 wait for lock 9 owned by session1  actually, my solution is to perform PORT.STATUS PORT 2  + VLIST current program + check if adress line is  the command is LOCK ... any idea ? many thanksmanu

Platform: RHEL 8.5DB: Unidata 8.2.1 hf11I have a customer who is seeing this message popup on people's screens.  The process in question isn't doing much of anything but they're obviously concerned.  Any idea what causes this?(You're likely going to tell me that this needs to go through the normal support channels but the VAR that this customer bought from isn't a VAR anymore, or so we have been told.  So they're kinda orphaned.)
