The Rocket MV team is pleased to announce the release of Rocket ® UniVerse 14.2.1 on 5th November 2025.

Rocket® UniVerse 14.2.1 builds on a proven foundation to deliver even greater resilience, flexibility, and modernization. With enhanced high availability and disaster recovery features, this release ensures your business stays online and agile—no matter what.

Built for Resilience: Uptime You Can Count On

Protect your system with the Shared Structure Recovery Framework RFS

The enhanced Recoverable File System (RFS) in UniVerse 14.2.1 gives you full control; configure it your way to align with your unique environment. Toggle RFS on or off using the RFS_MODE uvconfig parameter.

Secure your most critical files with Protected File Configuration
Once RFS_MODE is enabled, use a dedicated configuration file to define which files to protect, giving you more control over data protection.

When RFS is enabled and files are marked as protected, it prevents corruption during unexpected failures, ensuring high availability.

Ensure Index Consistency and Synchronization

Maintaining index integrity is key to performance and reliability. UniVerse 14.2.1 introduces index awareness improvements that enable real-time index updates. Now when you make index file changes, they are automatically recognized by users who already have the data file open. Use the new VERIFY.INDEX TCL command to verify data and index synchronization—an essential step in high-availability environments to ensure fast and accurate data access.

New BASIC Extensions Enhance Application Development

Streamlining Error Handling

Simplify error processing in your application with the new try/catch mechanism:

  • Integrates with modern programming languages.
  • Helps developers proactively anticipate and handle potential errors
  • Improves the stability and reliability of your applications.

Native JSON Support

Effortlessly handle JSON data using Dynamic Objects. This approach simplifies parsing and accessing data, enhances interoperability, accelerates development, and facilitates easier integration with APIs and external services.

Robust Recovery Tools Keep Your Application Resilient

File Level Command Recovery

When a file-level command (like CREATE.FILE) terminates prematurely, the uvcleanupd daemon now automatically completes the operation or rolls it back—ensuring data files stay in a consistent state.

Partial Write Recovery

Configurable when RFS is switched ON, this new feature protects against data corruption when a record update involving multiple file blocks is terminated before completion. Now if a session ends abruptly, uvcleanupd restores the original data file blocks. It also ensures index consistency. If a process terminates after the data file has been completely updated but before the indexes have been updated, the recovery process updates the index files to maintain the integrity of the data file with the index files.

More Upgrades for Performance, Security, and Compliance
