We have a file generated in MFED where the file contains X , 9 and COMP-3 data. When we looked at them thru data tools , it looks good. But , when we transfer the file to IBM mainframes (used both ASCII and BI ) , it's not looking like a usable file. We have the dialect as ASCII . How to get the file on to IBM mainframes for consumption?

Hi Murali,
I am not sure why you are using ASCII when your intended target is an IBM mainframe, which uses EBCDIC.
The Enterprise Developer product allows for various IBM mainframe dialects to be specified as compiler directives that will automatically use EBCDIC.
This is the Visual COBOL product forum, which is for COBOL on distributed platforms. The Enterprise Developer product is for emulating a mainframe environment.
If you have questions regarding mainframe compatibility you should probably post your questions to that forum instead: RocketĀ® Enterprise Suite (formerly a Micro FocusĀ® product) - Rocket Forum
Thanks
