Hello, I am looking to use Python on our mainframe. In my search I have come across two versions: Rocket Software's Python (<= 3.7) IBM Open Enterprise Python (>= 3.8) Now, apart from the versions offered, it is not clear to me if there are any significant differences between these two.Is Rocket Software still developing their version? Or did they halt active development because IBM released theirs?I hope somebody can give me some insight into this matter.Kind regards,Glenn#Python

Hi,I'm on UniVerse 11.1.9 running on Linux.  My question is about the CallHTTP function, submitRequest().  I'm using code like the below to communicate with an external web service. result = createRequest(PROXY.URL,http_method,request_handle) IF result # 0 THEN ERRORS<-1> = 'createRequest() failed with return code ':result; GO FATAL.ERROR result = setRequestHeader(request_handle,"Content-Type","application/json") IF result # 0 THEN ERRORS<-1> = 'setRequestHeader() failed with return code ':result; GO FATAL.ERROR result = submitRequest(request_handle,30000,post_data,response_headers,response_data,http_status)​ It seems that when the http_method passed to createRequest() is DELETE, then submitRequest() ignores the post_data passed to it.  That is to say the value of post_data is not included in the body of the request.Can any confirm if this is expected behavior?

I am new to Aldon.  I created a table and a view the way I had in the past with a long name and a system name. The version with the system name would not compile with the 14 option.  It compiled fine just running the SQL statements outside of Aldon. Has anyone received these errors in Unidata before?  unfree buffer in  merginmem.c at 697 unfree buffer in fl_delrec.c at 1341These are repeated over an over again during our pre-check process. Ran guide on the main files and they are clean. There are another 36 files opened in the process. Should we run guide on those files?I isolated it to a call to a common routine used in all of our batch update programs which returns a batch number . If I take it out, the program works, if I add another call a debug routine, it also works. But if I call the debug routine and not the batch number routine, it does not work.Thanks

Hi All Assuming I have appropriate permissions on the file system can anyone tell me if it is possible to copy/move from a UNIBASIC program?I have explored READBLK and WRITEBLK but the file always seems to be corrupt after writing.Example scenario; move/copy a word doc or PDF file from one directory to another.Alternatively is there a way to shell execute a command to the local server or execute a powershell command etc.Thanks In AdvanceAaron

UniData 8.2.2Hi All,Does anyone know if Rocket have recently changed the key length for the SAVEDLISTS file? On older versions I had no issues saving keys like -TRAWL*LAZ.PROGS*197609I know about the potential 000-999 issue when the OS tags the chunk numbers onto the end of the key, but I could at least save the list. Now, the response I get from the system is - can not open file: 'SAVEDLISTSTRAWL*LAZ.PROGS*197609I tried tagging some alphas onto the end of the key to get around the numeric chunking clash, but it didn't make any difference. If I hardcode the list key to 'BOB', it saves the list as BOB000 just fine.I don't really want to reduce the length of the key because I want to keep it unique and also visibly descriptive. ThanksLeon

I'm working with UniData 8.2.  I've written a utility that lets me view and treat an SQL table like it was a local UniData file with UniQuery type commands.It's been working fine.  But I am having an issue with one ODBC connection that sends back the rows but not the data for the columns.Has anyone seen this before?  Could it be some type of privilege setting?  I can get data back using an SQL manager tool using the same logon credentials.SQLFetch doesn't bring back any error messages, just no data.I am going from one domain to another, all within our intranet.Thoughts?

All,When I have no records selected in an INFORM report, the heading does not print. Users are asking the admin staff if a print job was printed. Is there a way I can force the heading to print if no records are selected, or is there a way I can place the report name in the Unix spooler banner page? I get a banner page with no records selected, but I think it is from the Unix spooler. Maybe set an environment variable to put into the banner?Jon

Good Evening all. hopefully the collective minds on here will help with a conundrum i have We have for several years been using Watchguard for our Firewalls and the remote users happily instigated  a Windows PPTP VPN connection and used their SB Client to access our Universe DB However, in light of a security review and the current increased security threats that blight our everyday activity, we have now deployed Cisco 1140 firewalls (in place of the Watchguards) and rolled out Cisco Anyconnect to enable the new VPN connection and remove the Windows PPTP security issues This has created a few issues in that some of the remote users intermittently lose their SB Client Telnet Connection and leave a dead session on the server. Not only is this tiresome for the users it could potentially lead to data loss. We did not have this issue with the Windows VPN connected to the WatchguardsSo my question is does anyone else out there use SB Client (Telnet) via an Cisco Anyconnect managed VPN /

Environ:  UV 11.2.5 on RHEL7I noticed today that when I run 'LIST.READU'  if the locked item ID is longer than 63 characters I see the following The Item ID is truncated visually at the 63rd character The output does not stop at the end of the page After capturing the output via wIntegrate I noticed that the 64th character is actually a control char (so far I have observed char(3), char(4) and char(14) as the truncating character).I also tested using the unix command 'list_readu', as well as the 'LIST.READU INTERNAL' variation.All produced the same result.So is this normal behaviour for the command when dealing with longer Item ID's?Is this as a result of the lock table truncating the ID, or is it just a reporting problem?Is there any significance to the character value at the 64 position in the ItemID?
