As part of our slow migration from CS to DSP, I have a form with an HTML widget, (the only field painted).  On the loaded DSP I have an attributes only field (button) with a call to unifaceTriggers in the onClick. This is supposed to call another instance which runs crystal reports and produces a print. The first click on this field performs the actions as appropriate. After which, none of the fields in the DSP are responsive. I can't type in text areas, I can (apparently) click one radio group, but the onChange is not fired, clicking the 'button' which just worked does nothing.  To try and find the issue, the uniface trigger in the form is now  askmess "Printing" return 0 But the issue persists.  The onclick trigger I am clicking is  webtrigger onClick javascript p=this.getParent(); f=p.getField("PPV_PREP_ID"); id=f.getValue(); rpt=p.getInstance().getEntity("FILTERS.NOMODEL").getOccurrence(0).getField("D_REPORT_FILE").getValue() if (typeof window.unifaceTriggers === "function") {

Before you get carried away I don’t mean you can do any coding in uniface.  In fact, you can ask about the $hits and it may suggest you have a dodgy stomach. 🤣 What I did which is something I have found needed in many companies but with no easy solution.  How do I get an ERM for my project.  The problem is it either takes too long and is unusable, or it simply can not be done as we hold relationships in uniface and not in the database. So, I tasked it to AI.I gave AI the DICT data for fields, tables (± 1000 of tables), subtypes, relations, keys… so 5 files of data. I thien started chatting with AI. The result is a stand alone .html file.  You can zoom, wildcard the tables, see the relationships, correct any overlaps.  For more features I would suggest chatting a bit more. The source code is easily readable but seems to consist of lots of drawing lines.  You probably would not want to modify the code manually. So, the easy bit is to give it the data, then you need to chat until it give

Good afternoon, I would like to ask about the E-Learning that appears in the “Road Map”, for us in very important. You can inform us how we can review the courses and when all of them will be ready to use.Thank you

The ISO 7-Layer model was the starting point for interpretation of the model. The diversity of platforms and technologies spanned both the network layer and the language set utilized by the operating system AND database. These inter-complexities were a hardy challenge to debug and further implement.I’ll not list all platforms and operating systems or databases. These still live in the PAM today.AppleTalk, NetWare, Microsoft, IBM, Novell all had different TCP stacks for network communication.DB3, TXT, ORA, SYB, INF, MSS - all databases with their own functional peculiarities and implicit value to the growing information technology business-scape.The ability to write in one place and run on soo many devices. Do I dare mention other runtimes still around today?The Refresh’ing-erSeeing UNIFACE today these concepts evolved very nicely. Containerizations, purpose-built runtimes, security-enforcement, platform-independent integration capabilities, Wow! In UTF8/16-Unicode;→Inside automation ha

I've had a careful look (as opposed to a man look) on the wishes list screen, and I can't see a method of adding a new one any more (ISTR it used to be a 'fly-in' button on the right-hand side). I've gotten through to Jira direct, and there's a Create button, but that only allows for the support desk project, (USL?) not the wishes (UNP). Please let us know when we can add wishes again. Regards, Iain

Microservices with Uniface in DockerAuthors: Tony Rusinovic, Jonke Korzelius and Jorge Núñez-OrellanaBackgroundIn our article '5 Reasons to put microservices on your To-Do list in 2021 ' we presented the benefits of deploying applications as Microservices. As follow-up we want to share our thoughts on Microservices deployment with Uniface, the role of containerization, and planned product enhancements that will help you to deploy Uniface applications as Microservices. It is also a topic of the Uniface Universe webinar on June 10th.                                 Do you want to know our thoughts on how to assist you in deploying Uniface Microservices?IntroductionAt Uniface, we always try to enable you to embrace technological trends to serve your business. With the arrival, and hype, of Microservices, we want to explore in which area we can help you most.We hypothesize that if w

Hello all, We are currently in the process of upgrading from Uniface 10.4.02.052 to 10.4.03.019 and have noticed a difference in behaviour with our HTML widget that we are not sure how to resolve. I believe this is probably due to a newer version of the CEF framework that is included in this release. I know that Uniface is not responsible for CEF functionality, however, I wonder if anyone has encountered the following issue or can suggest a solution.... We have a form component with a HTML widget on it. We communicate with a third-party via REST APIs and they send us back the URLs of a number of images, and we then update the HTML widget to render these images. The URLs to these images are stored on a CDN. Whenever the HTML widget renders these images the following error is recorded in the message frame: HTML Widget: Third-party cookie will be blocked. Learn more in the Issues tab. The HTML widget displays many images and so this error appears many times. Despite this, the images are s

Does everyone's IDE start page look like the following, or have I got something messed up in the ini files somewhere? Uniface and EDIFACTAuthor: i.sharp@pcisystems.co.uk (Iain Sharp) Has anyone used the EDIFACT standards to create/consume an EDI solution?  I'd like to determine if I need a third party app to convert to something useful, or if I can write something which will work directly in Uniface (or as a COM/DLL plugin).  If anyone has done similar, could you briefly say how difficult a task it was?  Regards,  Iain

Just for your information*)In UF 9, I had stored a list with GOLD- as a constant. That worked well.In UF 10, constants are created textually in DEFPARAM, and the semicolon acts as a comment character.The nice list is ruined :-(*) Even if Uniface were to correct this, it would take forever for it to be delivered in a version.“Unfortunately”, I need it right now. As a workaround, I used a pipe symbol instead of GOLD-;.And, of course, I have to convert | back to GOLD-; wherever it is used.

If anyone finds themselves in the same situation as I was after applying patch 26 to 10.4.03 and the Ctrl+F no longer brings up the find box in the proc editor, then just add this to your usys.ini and it will get you going again. My guess is that when they added the feature “Go to line number in code” they broke whatever the defaults that were baked into the proc editor because the search and the search and replace worked just fine without having to be defined in the usys.ini file(s). I opened a support ticket on this and eventually solved it myself. Hopefully, they address it or at a minimum, add it automatically to the usys.ini in future patches as they are applied.[userkeys]code.search=Ctrl+Fcode.searchandreplace=Ctrl+Hcode.gotoline=Ctrl+G

I’ve recently been made aware of an issue with logical printers in Uniface 10.4 on Windows 11 workstations. If you have 2 or more logical printers defined, all logical printers in the list will appear to be mapped to the first physical printer in the list. If you click on Change, the printer definition appears wrong, but if you click on the chevron to see what physical printer is mapped, it will be correct -- HOWEVER, any specific settings that were stored originally when setting up the printer will NOT be correct.Support has suggested to manage this directly through proc code. Has anyone run into this issue and if so, what was the solution or workaround?TIA

Hi FreaksIt seems to me that whith every new UnifAce-Version the behavior of DISCARD changeIf the DISCARD in the READ-trigger itself the UnifAce enginea) recall the READ-trigger (very old Uniface versions, result sometime to an stack overflow)b) starts the READ-trigger again (current UnifAce versions)But we do have a globale procedure to execute the read.In this case UnifAce a) steps to the next statement (if then is no more to read)b) leaves all procedures and return to the READ-triggerc) restart the current procedure. Sic! (with 10.4.3.032?)    [i.e. cleans all variables and starts the procedure just at the begin.]I’m not sure with which version the behavior change from b) to c) or if there was other “reaction” in betweenTesting our product under UF10.4.03.32 leads to crashes when retrieving and/or sorting hitlist with rows to discard (due to right managament)The same routines in the old environment works perfect.Does some else do have DISCARDS in subroutines (called direct or indier

Hi Unifacers, I am currently visiting a Uniface VAR; we need to download an older Uniface version: U9.7.05.057 for 3 platforms: W32, W64, LID but unfortunately they seems NOT available anymore on official UnifaceRocket download site. I've tried to contact Amsterdam phone numbers reported on RocketSoftware web site (+31 (0) 786 322 800 or 0800 022 2961 (toll free)) with no success (Message answered: this number does not receive incoming calls). How to solve this issue? Thanks in advance. Regards,Gianni ------------------------------Gianni Sandigliano IT------------------------------

Hi All,   As part of our ongoing upgrade, we are transitioning the Uniface environment from Uniface 7 (on OpenVMS) to Uniface 10 (on Linux).During this migration, we encountered an issue with a 3GL function that was previously working as expected in the OpenVMS environment. The function is invoked using the following Uniface command:   perform "3glfunction"edit/nowander   This 3GL function is implemented in a .c file located in a Linux directory. Its purpose is to pause the Uniface application until a specified time has elapsed. Once the timer completes, the function uses UPUTAMES to send a response back to Uniface.While this setup worked seamlessly on OpenVMS, it does not function correctly on Linux. The Linux version of the 3GL function uses a timer thread, which is detached after the timer ends. Although UPUTAMES works independently and is capable of sending responses back to the application, it fails to trigger the expected behavior in Uniface-specifically, the form does not displa

Under the Hood: Uniface’s Chromium Framework Gets a Major Security and Performance UpgradeBy Jie Wu,  Software Engineer III As a Uniface engineer, I’m excited to share some big news with all of you who build, maintain, and run Uniface applications: we’ve just shipped an upgrade to the Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF) in Uniface patch 10.4.03-028. If you’re using the HTML widget or working inside the Uniface IDE, this will directly impact your daily work—for the better.Why This MattersAt its core, Uniface leverages Chromium (the open-source backbone of browsers like Chrome and Edge) for HTML rendering and JavaScript execution. This means that whenever you embed web content in your app—be it dashboards, rich UIs, or integrations—you get the same level of power and security that powers modern browsers. By upgrading CEF from version 123.0.7 (Chromium 123.0.6312.46) to CEF 141.0.5 (Chromium 141.0.7390.55), we’re delivering the latest security patches and features, closing the door on previ

Hi FreaksFor a long time, the proc editor in UF 9.7.4 works well.But since a few weeks it going slower and slower.First I thought it is the internet, but this happens at every connection to the internetThen I did a look into the INI:  maxtags is 20 and even if I set it to 0 ... It looks like ot depends of the size of the proccodeSmall trigger or at the beginning of a large trigger: The editor responds immediately to input.Large triggers at the end of the code. You can wait a second for every character ...Any idea?Ingo------------------------------Ingo StillerAareon Deutschland GmbH------------------------------

Hi Unifacers, I was asked to develop a Real Time Application using Uniface; this application should be able to manage up to 99 devices, directly connected or indirectly connected through 1-N physical data concentrators, each one managing a blocks of devices. Those data concentrators are really simple ones; they are NOT able to maintain a queue of data for those devices they managed: for each device just last item of data collected and its timestamp. The precision of this system should be at thousand second. There should be a dashboard on a controller station avaliable to send a couple of commands to each single device to manage them, using different protocols when directly connected or when connected through a data concentrator. A logical schema of the system can be viewed at this address: LogicalSchema.jpg Dropbox remove preview LogicalSchema.jpg Shared with Dropbox View this on Dropbox > In this logical schema one thing is missing: when the emergency

Hello everyone, I'm looking for a way to validate JSON documents in Uniface against a JSON Schema (to check both syntax and structure).Has anyone here already implemented such a solution or integrated an external library or service for this purpose?
