Hello Rocket Software community, I'm currently working with Rocket UniVerse and have encountered performance issues when handling large datasets, particularly during peak usage times. It seems that the hardware configuration might be contributing to the problem. To resolve this, I am exploring ways to optimize both hardware and software settings, including utilizing Smart PC setups for smoother operation. Here are a few specific areas I'd appreciate feedback on: Smart PC configurations: Does anyone have experience using Smart PC setups for Rocket Software applications? Any configurations that helped with performance improvements, especially in database processing? Memory and CPU optimizations: Have you successfully optimized memory allocation or CPU usage when running Rocket UniVerse? Any insights on settings that can reduce lag or boost processing speed? High-load resource management: What steps have you taken to manage resources effectively when the system is under heavy load?

The Czech use a "s" with caron (inverted circumflex) as in Škoda. We need to convert the lowercase s to uppercase S but the C$TOUPPER seems not to know these characters. we have a file that has a MV list of part numbers in an attribute In D3, we used to be able to    select wo "235789" PL.IDS this would give is the keys to a new file. The dictionary looks like: DICT wo pl.ids01: S02: 1903: 04: 05: 06: 07: 08: F;"*"R;19;:;0R;_;:09: L10: 2811: A;0R:"*"R:N(PICKLIST.PNS) ~~ F;0;"*"R;:;19;: In D3, we would get 235789*001 235789*002 235789*003 In QM, we get 235789*001 002 003 Yes, we already use indexes though out our system, but we have some of this old logic.  We are hunting this down, but we would like to know to make the dictionary work correctly. There is a difference in the size of the .gnt file generated when compiling the same component for two different environments (Test and Production). The same compiler is used, with varying input copy assignment paths and compiled object delivery paths. We have compared the compiler lines and found that they are identical and contain the same instructions. I appreciate your support and guidance in identifying the difference and successfully delivering compiled objects with the same file sizes for both environments. Hi As I posted in another thread, I'm trying to port some code from uopy to u2py but I can't debug the code properly. I'm using Visual Studio code, connected remotely to a server via ssh. Running UD 8.3 on AIX with plenty of disk space. I have a number of large files (10M-50M) records that I want to re-size to improve overall performance, but more importantly, prevent any file corruption due to any file re-sizing activities. I am trying to find out what is the optimal number of records that each group should contain: 1- Is there a recommend number of records per group (keep it under 20 or a certain number)? This will allow me to properly size block and modulo.  2- Should I keep increasing size of the block until I have zero level 1 overflow, which means ignore number of records per group? Albeit I managed modulo size in conjunction with block size. Any insights or recommendations is greatly appreciated. Thank you

Is there a way to just complete these VOC updates en-masse for all accounts?  Your VOC is out of date. I have a complex I-Descriptor that should never output more than 2 characters.  Therefor, I have it set to "2L". Due to some bad data, a few records have 5-6 characters for this value. I have a UniVerse file with a great diversity of record structures. Consequently I want to return the data for a record through EVAL rather than a DICT I-descriptor entry because DICT entries lead to overflows from other incompatibly structured records. FWIW, the output will ultimately be through ODBC using dynamically normalized Native UniVerseSQL. Don't worry if this isn't your thing, you may still be able to help with the EVAL I-descriptor expression I need. The values on the record in question are listed as an arbitrary number of individual attributes, which I can return as a single set of multivalues using LOWER(@RECORD) suitable to be read by ODBC. However I need to return them with the corresponding original attribute numbers and have not been able to come up with anything.
