Further to the fun I had trying to get the SEQ.NUM option to work on a dynamic file creation in a Pick account, I am now having extra fun with dynamic files. I'm kind of thinking the manuals on this subject are not at all helpful - there are lots of plain syntax explanations but none of the nuanced guidance needed to actually master this stuff. My current challenge is to create a Dynamic file with specific Dictionary specifications (the default of 'Type 3, Modulo 1, Separation 2' are not appropriate) and with non-default dynamic file settings. Given the issues with Pick-style CREATE.FILE and dynamic files I thought I would simply create the DICT file first, then create the data file. Hi, Currently we are using Micro Focus COBOL on windows. I have the following query on migration from 32 bit COBOL  to 64 bit COBOL . What are the necessary changes I have to do from Micro Focus end? I was not sure where to start as well. Please guide the same.

I am new to Uniface 10.  I don't see any forms in IDE. When I check the repository from the backend (Oracle), I see entries in OUFORM but there is no record in UFORM. Is ANALYZE.FILE meant to give different averages for the same items in different spec'd Dynamic Files? I had an expectation that record size averages would not change regardless of the setup of the dynamic file. I was wrong, aparently. Has anybody else encountered and resolved this issue? Hi all We're getting an unexpected error code when users try to log in into Universe and the maximum number of users is reached. Instead of getting the usual 39134 error code we receive 1449750101. It's a weird number, so we did some further investigation Turned into hexadecimal we get 0x56696E55 All the numbers fall into a rather small range, within the letters in the ASCII table. So, turning it into ASCII characters we get "VinU". Accounting for endianess, this is "UniV". We are getting a messed up error code from a (we suspect) dangling pointer that it's pointing to a string area instead of a proper integer. I recently installed the Unidata personal edition, 8.2.4 (Windows installation).  I am now trying to connect to the server (localhost) with the "Administrator" account.  However, it tells me the Administrator account has expired. Is there is a different administrator account that I should be using?  Thanks in advance for your help.

Several users have complained of the printing process being hung up in the queue. The "print using windows default printer" is selected and they are connected to the correct printer. I am attempting to test a new routine that retrieves file specifications in BASIC (using a combination of the STATUS xx FROM fv statement and the FILEINFO() function). Naturally I have tested against variations of the hashed file types (types 2-18). I am in the process of upgrading to Uniface version 10.4.02 (patch 031) and now have a working IDE. When I launch the IDE, a message saying "UHTTP: Negative return status: -12" shows in the Messages tab on the start page. Also, the middle of the start page screen shows "No connection". I have an elementid from another piece of javascript, and I'd like to get the relevant field object (technically I'd like to get the relevant occurrence in order to get another field in the same occurrence but never mind that).  So I can get passed in a string with "ufld:FIELD.ENT.MODEL:INST.3". So far (since it's one field I'm doing this for), the best bet I have got is looping through uniface.getInstance("INST").getEntity("ENT.MODEL").getOccurrence(loopcnt).getField("FIELD").getBoundElement().idand comparing the result to the string passed in to get a match.  Is there a better way to get to the uniface field object from the element ID as a string? Regards,  Iain------------------------------Iain SharpHead of Technical ServicesPci Systems LtdSheffield GB------------------------------

Quick Question -  Can RM\\COBOL Version 12.12 be run on Windows Server 2022??

Hi, I have an entry field that I want the user to type in what they are looking for, in this case, a customer name. I want the program to receive each letter as it is typed. Right now, I can get the previous letter as it is typed from the event, but I need the current letter. For example, when the user types "G" in the field, the event-proc returns to the field variable blank, then when the user types in the next letter, "Gi" being what is in the entry field now, the event-proc returns the "G". I need to have to return the one being type at the time, not a lag as it does now. Does anyone have a solution to this? Thanks, Kevin #AcuCobol#entry-field

Reflection Desktop Pro Version - I created a settings file ( with settings for Secure Shell, XTERM, Keyboard Map, color of font, width of the screen, etc.) for logging into routers. Each time that I click to open the file, I am then prompted to enter the ip address of the router that I want to log into. Intermittently though, for some reason, when I click on my file to start a new ssh session, instead of being prompted to enter a new ip address for another router that I want to log into, Reflection simply begins connecting to the last router ip address that I connected to. The ip of the router that I last logged into, is intermittently being saved inside my settings file (which has a .rdox file extension). So I have to keep making duplicates of my original file, which does not have any ip address saved in it. This is so frustrating and has been going on for years. I asked this question in Chat GPT and the only solution that it came up with was "create duplicate copies of your orig
