Greetings, all!Environment - UV 11.3.5 on AIX 7.2 Whenever we stop and restart UV, the current logs in $uvhome get saved into the $uvhome/saved_logs folder.  It's not just a straight copy, though.  It appears that the current values get appended to the end of the respective files that were already in saved_logs, but it also appears that some of the information from the front ends of the existing saved_logs files gets removed.  Is there documentation somewhere that says how these files are managed?  Are each of the log files handled the same, or is each managed according to its own unique set of rules?  Are these rules configurable by us? Some of these files can get fairly large, so we're looking to be able to predict/manage what is going to happen, as well as ensure the sizing of the associated filesystem is correct.Thank you!------------------------------Brian Paige------------------------------

Hello, I've looked online, and from what I can tell: there's no information on either of the question. We've run into an issue where a call is issued, but the operation is terminated or cancelled, but there's no way to signal the same to UniVerse. The other problem we've is: we "believe" we're hitting the maximum connections allowed, which leads to delayed responses on the front end as the call "waits" for the connection to become available again. I wonder is there a way to check the connection availability ahead of time, instead of just sitting there. Thank you!

Is anyone able to connect to a remote server?I've added Rocket MV Basic 2.6.0 to VS Code. Have 'Open Folder'ed an empty folder, 'Initialize'd and 'Edit Server Config' setting... {     "datasource": "UNIDATA",     "servers": [         {             "address": "HOSTNAME",             "name": "HOSTNAME",             "username": "xxxx",             "password": "****",             "account": "demo",             "port": 31438         }     ] } [address, name, username and password all obfuscated] On my server 'demo' exists in ud_database. I'm able to connect to the same server using the same settings from a U2.Data.Client .NET application. Is the source to this 'Rocket MV Basic' extension on Github so I can attempt to debug? We recently upgraded our application using U2.Data.Client from version 3.1.1.0 to 3.1.2.0, and we are encountering a different kind of issue with multithreading. Issue on Version 3.1.1.0 Previously, in version 3.1.1.0, our server would spike the CPU usage to 100% and remain at that level. I'm using the latest U2 64-+Bit ODBC Driver Version 7.241.02.9004.The ODBC Connection tests successfully and works perfectly in applications that use ODBC, such as Excel, Microsoft Access, and Microsoft Power BI Desktop.I am running a freshly installed local instance of Microsoft SQL Server Developer (64-bit) 15.0.2000.5 on Windows 10 Pro locally.I created a Linked Server connection using the Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers and it connects to the U2 database successfully, listing out all of the table names.  However, I cannot see any columns, nor can I query any data from the U2 tables.If I try scripting a select statement from a table, it says:[MYU2DATABASENAME]...[MYTABLENAME] contains no columns that can be selected or the current user does not have permissions on that object.Again, I can select all columns and data from these U2 Universe tables using the same credentials in other applications via ODBC.I need to be able to query data via a SQL Server Linked Server co

I'm trying to get ssh working into a Windows 2022 system with UniVerse via openssh. It works much better than the last time I tried it, but for one problem: the escape key. The problem is that the escape key is not passed to UniVerse. I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions or has managed to get this going? Let me illustrate this a little. If I ssh into the Windows server, CD to a UniVerse account, and run the uv (or uvsh) command, and then run the following program: GETKEY 0001 PRINT 'This will list the ASCII code of the key pressed until you hit "Q"' 0002 loop 0003 c = keyin() 0004 print seq(c) 0005 until c = 'Q' ! c = 'q' do repeat It returns the ASCII code for any key I press - except for the ESC key, when it simply doesn't respond. If they do not, the applications will not work with your UniData account. Jonathan Smith October 16, 2019 What changed at UniData 8: Memory Allocation Prior to UniData 8.1.0, UniBasic variable space was allocated via shared memory from a system wide shared pool (some of these go back to the original design in the 1990s). Why? It was done to reduce total system wide memory consumption and to ensure that UniData had enough memory available for a user application to function. This memory allocation reserved the base memory requirement, as defined by the shared memory parameters, for use by UniData only. And, the shared memory segment was divided into smaller segments, allowing multiple processes to use the same memory area. Michael Rajkowski January 31, 2023 Starting at UniVerse 12.2.1 and UniData 8.2.4, you have additional control over how your Python environment is maintained during an upgrade. Previously, when you upgraded your Rocket U2 database, a new version of Python replaced the previous version requiring your System Admin/DBA to reinstall needed modules and/or to modify the .pth files (putting them back to the way they were before the upgrade). Now, during the upgrade you are presented with two questions: Do you want to preserve Python .pth files? Do you want to preserve Python module files? If you answer no, (or don’t select the check box on Windows upgrades), the U2 install process will replace the Python version, and you will need to create/modify your .pth files as necessary, and then pip install the modules you are using for the new version of Python. Here I’ll discuss Entity Framework, Visual Studio and provide some screen shots and sample code. Entity Framework 4.0 or 5.0 is part of old Visual Studio (VS) versions. When upgrading to VS 2013 or later versions, it creates a .NET Framework 4.5 application to work with the newer Entity Framework 6.1.x version. It requires the Manage NuGet Packages tool to install it and it also requires an additional registering process to recognize the Rocket U2 Toolkit driver. Before you can begin using your U2 accounts in SQL-based applications, you must make the U2 data accessible to those applications. It requires Visual Schema Generator (VSG) to create new sub-table or view schema on UniData accounts. Michael Rajkowski August 26, 2020 Part 1 of 3 By storing your data in internal format in your MV database, you can easily convert the data to a desired display format. One of the most common uses for conversion codes is dealing with dates. In MV, the internal representation of the date is an integer. For example the internal format for “04 Dec 2014” is 17140. Those familiar with U2 BASIC know they can get the internal format to the display date format by using the OCONV function.
