What do GA, EOM, EOS, and EOLS mean?

Is ANALYZE.FILE meant to give different averages for the same items in different spec'd Dynamic Files? I had an expectation that record size averages would not change regardless of the setup of the dynamic file. I was wrong, aparently. Seems to me they do the exact same thing.  What's the difference?

Hi all We're getting an unexpected error code when users try to log in into Universe and the maximum number of users is reached. Instead of getting the usual 39134 error code we receive 1449750101. It's a weird number, so we did some further investigation Turned into hexadecimal we get 0x56696E55 All the numbers fall into a rather small range, within the letters in the ASCII table. So, turning it into ASCII characters we get "VinU". Accounting for endianess, this is "UniV". We are getting a messed up error code from a (we suspect) dangling pointer that it's pointing to a string area instead of a proper integer. I recently installed the Unidata personal edition, 8.2.4 (Windows installation).  I am now trying to connect to the server (localhost) with the "Administrator" account.  However, it tells me the Administrator account has expired. Is there is a different administrator account that I should be using?  Thanks in advance for your help.

I am attempting to test a new routine that retrieves file specifications in BASIC (using a combination of the STATUS xx FROM fv statement and the FILEINFO() function). Naturally I have tested against variations of the hashed file types (types 2-18). Hello,  I am migrating our production application (Prelude) from a UNIX to Linux environment. Currently, I am working on moving the U2 ODBC database. UniData is installed and working on the system and presents correctly in Prelude, however the ODBC database is having some issues. When I attempt to connect using U2 ODBC drivers, I can only interact with 5 out of the 40 tables present. The account used to manage these tables/subtables/views has owner permissions on the db and is part of the same groups as it was on Unix. I sometimes see an error message when trying to re-license after an update (which I've been doing a lot recently to get customers up to 3003). "This web address is for US and Canadian customers of RBC.  Please click OK and click the indicated URL to continue." This is from https://rbc.rocketsoftware.com/authprod.asp.  I usually wait a day or two (but not ten!) and go through the process again and it usually seems to work.  I could be entering the details a different way the 2nd time?  The customers work with the VAR to get the license details, so I'm one step removed from requesting and managing the serial numbers, they just call me when they need help. I've been asked this before, but did not have an answer!  On Unidata -- in a dictionary -- to do a multivalue OCONV, the command is SUBR("-OCONVS",X,Y) The question I got asked:   "Why is there a "-" in front of that code?" And I was not sure!  Is that because it's a system function?  It's not actually documented as to WHY -- just that it IS. I just looked over the Using UnIData 8.2.4 doc to make sure it was not something documented. Nevermind, figured it out. Apparently this forum is an excellent rubber duck. If some kind soul at Rocket would add SQL.WLONGVARCHAR and SQL.WVARCHAR to ODBC.H that would be very nice.

I am on Universe. I get the following message when I try to delete a file.  "unable to unlink the operationg ssytem file" then it lists the file name. Then it follows with "DELETE failure". Good day, I'm supporting a IBM Power AIX environment, which I have been working with for about a year. Along with sorting out the general maintenance of the systems and moving to AIX 7.2 there is a large UniVerse environment on the hardware I support. So I've done a little reading, as I didn't build these environments, about recommend tuning. I couldn't find anything specific, so along with what I've found, I wanted to see if there was anything else I could do or look into. We have a number of test environments, and servers that I can build to test these things on.I have found some mention of tuning JFS, first was check the type of filesystem mount, if CIO enabled disable it. Then set 'ioo -p -o j2_dynamicBufferPreallocation=64'. I've also seen mention that j2_nPagesPerWriteBehindCluster should be changed from the default 32 to zero I have some ideas of things I might like to try and see if they made a difference, setting the  "/usr/sbin/syncd 60 > /dev/null 2>&1 &" defa

On a Windows system (Windows version is 10.0.20348.1970) running UV 11.2.5 in PICK format, we have a BASIC program that executes a DIR command. EXECUTE "DOS /c DIR" CAPTURING OUTPUT  The time column shows the timestamps in 24 hour format. However from a Windows DOS Command window, if we type DIR the times are in 12 hour format.  My question is how can we get the time format to be in 12 hour format when running the  program? What is UV looking at to determine the time format?  BTW we get same results when we use DOS command at TCL to get to the DOS environment and then type DIR.  Screen shot attached with Windows Command prompt window on left and Accuterm on right. I have a client that runs a 24/7 application on UniVerse (11.3.2).  They are conscientious about keeping their files well sized.  Several years ago they tried the CONCURRENT option on RESIZE and got badly burned when they ended up with corrupted files and lost data.  They have been very gun shy about using CONCURRENT since then.  Has anyone resized UniVerse files with the CONCURRENT option recently?  Is it stable now or is it still a crap shoot on the end result?  If you use it, what is the performance impact?------------------------------Steve Murray-WolfOwnerRocket Forum Shared AccountFirestone CO US------------------------------
