     I have a project with one main form and six sub-forms. While entering code for Form5 I received the message "COBCH0804: Source limit of 2200 procedure lines exceeded". The main form is a menu with some procedures that do not use forms. The sub-forms are self contained and send no data back to the main form. What can I do to finish my project?      On another subject. I have a form containing one text box and several labels. I have captured the return key and send the tab key. When I use the enter key to terminate an entry the bell sounds. This does not happen if I use "TAB". What can I do to silence the bell in this instance?

Problem: When you have a COBOL array defined in a COBOL class and expose all the array items as properties like below: class-id squarebrackets.Class1. working-storage section. 01 cob-array property all.    05 my-occurs occurs 3 times.       10 my-field pic x.       end class. And you reference the array item in your managed COBOL program using square brackets and provide a index number like below: "type Class1::my-field" if the property is a static property. "myobject::my-field" if the property is an instance property. You will get the COBCH1722 or COBCH1723 compile error when building the application. Resolution: The [] syntax can be used in two situations: 1) For indexing an array (with zero based indexes) 2) For passing parameters to an indexer, defined on the type of the item.  e.g. the indexer for the List type in .NET (System.Collections.Generic.List) expects an int parameter

Is here anybody to share Information how to learn managed Cobol or creating professional Windows/Screens with Visual Studio?Where can i find documentation?Can you share book titel for this learning?Thanks for answer!

Hello,I would like to create some bar/pie charts from the existing data.I've been searching and found no topic with this subject. Thank you for your tips.Note: I am using Visual Cobol / Visual Studio.ThanksAlberto Ferraz

HiI'm currently using  MicroFocus VEC 5.0 in Windows 10. I've developed quite a large suite of native COBOL programs using OpenESQL to update a local installation of MS SQL server.My question has 2 parts:1) To switch to MySQL will I only need to change my connection string to access a 32 bit ODBC driver for MySQL instead of SQL server? I believe the SQL syntax is pretty standard so I hope my Insert, Delete and Update logic will not be affected.1)What strategy and technology would be required to either directly update a Web based MySQL database or if that's not possible what would be another approach to upload the MySQL data in real time.I'd like to develop a small web based application to expose this MySQL data and I don't want to use Java or COBOL.ThanksElliot

DevExpress C# sample code:  [Association]public XPCollection<Order> Orders {get { return GetCollection<Order>(nameof(Orders)); }}I'm trying to get back a collection of "Order" objects byinvoking the GetCollection method. The Visual COBOL editor shows this syntax for method:XPBaseObject::GetCollection(propertyName AS string) RETURNING type DevExpress.Xpo.XPCollection[type T].This is what I've coded so far:property-id trans_items type XPCollection[type WN_160_UnitOfWork.trans_item] publicattribute Association.getter.set property-value to GetCollection("trans_items")end property.The editor tells me I can't convert type DevExpress.Xpo.XPCollection to what I've defined in the property-id statement.

Hi AllI obtained through an email some months ago from the micro focus site a PE download link.I recently, when obtained hardware strong enough to run VS2017, downloaded the package files and install themBut, it did not self activate as I was expectingmy registration and email received at 2019-02-04, 4th Feb 2019

Hi I'd like to use JSON PARSE instead of UNSTRING to parse the JSON structure shown below. My problem is that the  content and exact spelling  of  the  middle lines starting with "161 Waist" and "162 Seat" are not known at compile time, only at run time. Is it possible to define a COBOL data structure that can be used with JSON parse to handle this kind of thing?Thanks { "jsonrpc": "2.0", "message": "MeasureResults", "params": { "ID": "0001", "161 Waist": "25.000", "162 Seat": "37.000", "status": "not OK" } }

HiI'm just starting with JSON GENERATE in Visual COBOL for Eclipse 5.0.I have a question is how to represent the JSON string shown below in the DATA DIVISION..The JSON example in the SAMPLE folder uses the NAME entity a 01 level data name for the FROM identifier in the JSON GENERATE statement but my JSON starts with 3 items at the same level.So what do I use as the "FROM" identifier. If I make the 3 name pairs 05 levels won't the dummy  01 level item be generated in the JSON?{ "jsonrpc": "2.0", "message": "GarmentInfo", "params": { "general": { "ID": "ni1", "0-0": "ni1", "0-1": "Prod variable", "1-0": "Sylte Variable", "1-1": "Color var", "1-2": "Fabric Arcticle Var", "1-3": "Size Var", "units": 1

Hello Visual COBOL community,I hope you can help me with my problem.In my current Visual COBOL project we are using Remote COBOL Projects. And my problem now is that I can't open any Ant files in corresponding editors (Ant editor) or views. The error message looks like this:java.lang.NullPointerException at org.eclipse.ant.internal.ui.model.AntModel.getEditedFile(AntModel.java:752) at org.eclipse.ant.internal.ui.model.AntModel.setBuiltInProperties(AntModel.java:529) at org.eclipse.ant.internal.ui.model.AntModel.setProperties(AntModel.java:459) at org.eclipse.ant.internal.ui.model.AntModel.initializeProject(AntModel.java:429) at org.eclipse.ant.internal.ui.model.AntModel.prepareForFullParse(AntModel.java:396) at org.eclipse.ant.internal.ui.model.AntModel.parseDocument(AntModel.java:355) at org.eclipse.ant.internal.ui.model.AntModel.reconcile(AntModel.java:313) at org.eclipse.ant.internal.ui.model.AntModel.getProjectNode(AntModel.java:1518) at org.eclipse.ant.internal.ui.mod

Problem : When attempting to uninstall Docker Licenses using the Micro Focus License Administration tool, a message saying that “Licenses are in use" is displayed - see sample screenshot below.   Resolution : This occurs because these are STANDALONE licenses. Currently the only way to remove Docker licenses is to go to the          C:\\ProgramData\\Micro Focus\\lservrc.stn file and empty the file content, and save it, as the License administration tool does not have the facility to remove them. Note that Docker related licenses should not be installed on non-Docker platforms. A restart of services “Micro Focus CES daemon” and “Sentinel RMS License Manager” may be required to clear license cache, also restart of the License administration tool.

Problem : How to enable Windows XP support for COBOL application. Via a Visual COBOL command prompt, it is possible to use the cbllink –Y option to enable Windows XP / 2003 support, but how is this done via a Visual COBOL Project > Properties > COBOL Link? There appears to be no option to specify this, or it is not clear where to set this.   Resolution : In a Visual COBOL Project > Properties > COBOL Link shows all the cbllink options are included expect for the –Y option. The Additional Directives Textbox can be used to specify –Y.

Problem : Every time  a debug session is started Eclipse compiles all the programs before starting the debug. With large projects containing many programs (that still need to be fixed in terms of syntax errors) it takes a long time to compile all those programs, this happens at each start of a debug session. Is there a way to prevent Eclipse from compiling all the programs before starting a debug session? Resolution : When debugging starts, a check on source files will be performed to find out if any are out of date, and if so a build is performed. This can be switched off in the Eclipse menu > Window/Preferences/RunDebug/Launching property page.  On that page (about half way down) is an option called “Build (if required) before launching”.    De-select that option, click Apply/Close and then test. NB. This is a global option so will affect the whole IDE (for example - Java as well).

Problem : Your UTF-8 to ANSI conversion code is not working as expected, characters are shown incorrectly in output. Resolution : Note: How to do this can vary depending on Product, Operating System and System locale used. For the sample below, two important parts to consider are the:Intrinsic functions used, see code statement in sample: move function display-of (function national-of(dl-data, 1208)) to conv-data And also the use of PC_WIN_OEM_TO_CHAR  to set the codepage, e,g,: call PC_WIN_OEM_TO_CHAR using test02 test02 by value 30 30. There is a scenario where only the move statement is needed, statement "CALL " PC_WIN_OEM_TO_CHAR" will be needed to get the characters to display correctly, but this may vary.   For example. if only working with data from files that are not displayed, then this routine may not be needed.Sample code:      $set nsymbol(national)      $set sourceformat"free" &nbs

I downloaded the free version of personal visual cobol from CNET.  When I attempt to open an example project (or any other) the Visual Studio tells me I need an authorization code.  This was a download directly from CNET. I didn't get an authorization code on a package and I didn't get one in an email as I didn't have to provide an email address to CNET. I called support and they told me to come here.  When I try to use online support I need an authorization code to get to them. This is a conundrum of a sort. Can anybody tell me how to  obtain an authorization code?  Also, is this a temporary authorization or is it permanent for the personal edition?#VisualCOBOLautoscalemodescreenresolution

I have a full license for Visual Cobol 5.0 update 2 running in Visual Studio 2019 with all of the latest updates.I am working through the Visual Cobol for Visual Studio Essentials online course and am to the section "Using the Open ESQL Assistant". I've confirmed in the Tools Options that the mode is ODBC.When I select View -> Micro Focus SQL Tools -> OpenESQL Assistant, a new tab opens, but I don't see the window like in the tutorial.  It is simply blank.I've rebooted several times, but the same result.  I am running Windows 10 (1903).Does anyone have suggestions on how to resolve this?Thank you.
