Many of the companies I’ve worked with on automation are now expanding the scope of automation beyond IT and application workflows. They're pushing deeper into business units, actively identifying processes ripe for automation. A key focus in these efforts is understanding how to trigger automation effectively. What's the event that sets it in motion? How do we integrate these triggers into our systems? Today, processes are initiated by system notifications, file arrivals, or other standard events. But one area with huge potential is automation triggered by humans - informed decisions made by people who stay in the loop. This on-demand, ad-hoc automation, where a human initiates or interacts with the process at a key step, is an essential piece of the puzzle for achieving pervasive or hyper-automation. Think about workflows like onboarding new staff, offboarding, password resets, report generation, or approval processes. Many of these start with a human interaction or require a criti
This post will be about the Operations Screen – what you can see on it and what it can do for you. When you go to the Operations screen you can see what’s happening in today’s production schedule. Jobs can be monitored and managed with capability to hold, cancel, release, and perform other operations. Relevant run-time information is also available here, for you to drill down into. For example, milestones that are authored to alert when SLAs are at risk, can be monitored and managed here. Configuring client manager for HTTPS might seem like an extra step, but it’s crucial for establishing secure communication and protecting sensitive data transmitted between clients and server. Here’s why: Encryption: HTTPS encrypts the data exchanged between the client and server, preventing unauthorized access and tampering. This is especially important when dealing with sensitive information like user credentials, financial data, or personal details. Authentication: HTTPS verifies the identity of the server, ensuring that clients are connecting to the legitimate server and not a malicious imposter. This helps prevent phishing attacks and other security threats. Data integrity: HTTPS ensures that the data transmitted between the client and server remains intact and unaltered. This prevents data corruption or manipulation during transit. I'd like to introduce myself, I'm Paul and I love to talk about Workload Automation. I helped design and develop my first Enterprise Scheduler in 1993 on IBM midrange systems (formerly AS400 but now known as IBM i). Today's Enterprise Workload Automation products are highly advanced and further along the automation continuum with even more exciting developments looming. I will be introducing some of these shortly in other posts but for now I just wanted to say hello and I'm looking forward to learning more about your challenges and how we can help you overcome them and drive operational efficiency. I live in the UK but please don't hold that against me it's just a time-zone issue so some of my posts/replies might appear to be odd hours however I do love engaging in all forms of workload automation so who's knows I might be up early 😊. Happy to hear your short intro's so we can get acquainted. ------------------------------Paul Wade B.Sc. Director, Product Management-------------------

Do you manage complex workflows across different systems? The last thing you want is a fragmented approach to integration. IBM i systems are known for their reliability and security, but managing schedules and data workflows within them can get complicated-especially when juggling multiple applications. That's where Rocket® Zena comes in! 🚀 It eliminates complexity by integrating directly with IBM i, allowing you to automate and manage batch jobs seamlessly. 🔗 Read the full blog post here What challenges have you faced when managing workflows in IBM i? Last night at 11 PM, while jobs were running in Zena for the Enterprise Data Warehouse, we encountered an error. Zena, the scheduler, communicates via an agent on the data warehouse server. The job error we received was: "Native launch services disconnected. Job status unknown." I found a case (#KB306811) related to this error, but the solution provided wasn't very helpful. Has anyone else experienced this error and found a more relevant solution? The error seemed temporary since the jobs ran fine after a restart. However, the logs have been overwritten since last night.------------------------------mende domazetovskiIS Application ManagerThe Huntington National BankCOLUMBUS OH US------------------------------

We have version 6.2 installed on our systems and version 7 on another. We have experienced issues with version 7 in that on occasion when we preform a recycle it gets hung up, this has been an issue since last summer, we have been told it is some sort of memory overlay issue and Rocket Support is trying to work with IBM to come up with a fix, as such we were advised not to upgrade our 6.2 environment to version 7. I am just wondering if anyone else in the community has run into this issue or if its unique to my organization. ------------------------------Brian StahlSenior Mainframe Systems EngineerRocket Forum Shared Account------------------------------
