I’m working with a program in .Net 8.0 on D3 v10.3.4/Linux and it appears to be unable to connect to any other host other than localhost. The server version on all my D3 hosts is 1.8.21.20624.The Java version of the client (v1.7.0.0) works without error, so there’s no firewall or blocking issue that I can see.  telnet to the remote host at port 9000 works as well. The error I get is “*NotExist*”, which is an utterly useless error message.  It’s no more informative than, “No”. :(Is this a known bug?  Is there a work around?tnx.g.

We are attempting the adoption of UV 14.2.1 after being stable with 11.3.5 for a while. It is not going very well. The change between UV 11 and UV 14 is significant and I am not able to find much supporting material to help guide our adoption. After reviewing the available docs and following the guidance for tuning the `uvconfig` settings we have our target base system configuration established.Connecting a single uvsh to run `UPDATE.ACCOUNT` results in "The GLM lock table is full." messages. The guidance for some of the `uvconfig` settings is to reference the maximum number of locks in a transaction.Seems simple enough, if taking the UV 11.3.5 perspective of a transaction being instigated by BASIC code using the transaction semantics. That is how we approached the setting determination and the results indicate this is not correct. When digging into some of the UV 14 GLM related changes there seems to be another concept for a transaction.Using the uvglm_tool utility it is possible to list

Hello, With an older release of D3 Windows (32bits), it was possible to connect to my D3 database using D3 Windows Class Library Reference. But, with the last release od D3 (64 bits), it doesn’t work. In D3 Programs, i don’t find this dll: D3clslib.dll Any idea ? ThanksRegards.Christophe.

The default uvconfig values for these settings are:N_AFT 5000 N_AFT_SECTION 17 N_AFT_SECTION_BUCKET 23  These result in 294.12 files per SECTION, and 12.79 files per SECTION BUCKET. The N_AFT setting is too small for our needs so we will be increasing it. What I am interested to explore is what are the deciding factors needing consideration when adjusting N_AFT_SECTION and N_AFT_SECTION_BUCKET ? Should the current ratios be maintained as best as possible? For example, if N_AFT is set to 15000 a custom setting of 53 for N_AFT_SECTION would result in 283.02 files per SECTION and 12.31 files per SECTION BUCKET, which are close to the default ratios. Is this the best approach, or should I take a different track?

Hi, I requested Visual COBOL Personal Edition for Eclipse (Windows). The download link points to download-eu.rocketsoftware.com, but it always returns ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT from different networks. Could you provide an alternative download link? Thanks.

Docs on this setting describe it thus:Sets the number of hash buckets in the per-user locking table. Adjust this based on the number of concurrent locks a user may hold.andThe number of hash buckets for the per-process locking table. This parameter is highly application dependent, If the application requires a large number of locks in one transaction (more than 20), you should increase this setting to the closest prime number to the maximum number of locks per transaction.  So if we have identified our maximum locks per transaction is a rather large number, like 5000, then this calculation would derive to 4999. That does not seem to make sense. Is there any real-world feedback on this?

Greetings y’all! We currently have a development environment that I would like to have, on a regular cadence, updated with production data. Are any of y’all doing that know?  I’m being told by our VAR that it is next to impossible to do.

I'm excited to share an open-source project that bridges the gap between modern AI and MultiValue databases. u2-mcp is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that enables AI assistants like Claude to directly query and interact with Rocket Universe and UniData databases—while preserving native MultiValue semantics. 🔑 Key Features:• Query files using RetrieVe/UniQuery syntax• Read/write records with full dynamic array support• Access dictionaries and call BASIC subroutines• Built-in safety controls (read-only mode, command blocklist, query limits)• OAuth authentication for secure cloud deployment 💡 Why This Matters:Instead of flattening MultiValue data into relational models, u2-mcp preserves attributes, multivalues, and subvalues natively. Your AI assistant understands your data the way your applications do. Use Cases:• Natural language queries against your ERP/business data• AI-assisted report generation• Database documentation and exploration• Training new developers on legacy syste

Hello friends. I’ve attached a small program designed to read a text file and create an indexed file from it. The problem is that it fails to read the file. I’ve added a `DISPLAY` and an `ACCEPT` statement to track when it reads the file, but it doesn’t seem to happen. I’m quite frustrated because this has worked in the past, but now I can’t figure out what’s going wrong. I’ve included both the file and the program; I would greatly appreciate your thoughts on this.Hola amigos. Thanks.Wascar Guerrero.

I am integrating the VS code for COBOL development, We are executing a JCL calling a COBOL module in Enterprise server. We keep the class 2, as the server 2 is tagged with debug enable. In Enterprise Developer, its correctly captured in Debug session pointing server 2 . I want the same to be captured in the VS Code session. How it can be achieved?I followed the instructions in the VSCode Enterprise extension documentation and setup the launch.json file

We are running Zeke 7.1 / Zebb 4.0How do others handle jobs that get a ‘Zeke Data Differs’ that cause the job status in Scheduleview to display ‘FAIL JCL ERROR’.  We are trying to get a handle on reducing these to lower our ticket count as a result of this error.Thanks….

Hello,We previously encountered “SSH Open Channel Failure” error whenever we do activities like Create, Check out, etc. Then job log outcome for each activities will be slow, it gets displayed after 5 minutes. But still job logs are displayed. Based on that we came to the conclusion that we have to increase our sshd config MaxSession value. But after increasing it, we encountered a new error when doing different activities. This is what it says in the RDO Action OutputCPC1221: Job 464623/USER/ACMSCREATE submitted to job queue JOBQ in library LIB.CMS9911: Program ACMSCREATE completed successfully.  The highest CMSnnnn message severity received was 0.TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'trim') This is our setup:VS Code version: 1.142.0Rocket DevOps Extension: 11.3.0Aldon (RDOi): V 11.2-02 Any idea on this? Thanks in advance!

Hi Team, Is there a way we can find if the query which is active for so long is progressing at all or not? We see some sessions/queries active in the query_requests/sessions but not really sure if they are moving or just a stale connection which is stuck to close the session. Do we have any easier way to find if the query is moving or not?

Are there any suggested alternatives for creating VSAM files with record sizes exceeding the File Handler record length limit of 62KB? Attempting to allocate a dataset exceeding this limit results in a  JCLAM0142S Error.

Hi there,Is it possible with current IDE Menu API (10.4.04) to add a multilevel menu to global IDE hamburger menu ?I would like to add “GSX extensions” as main item and one level down other 3 to 4 items, having one of these another level down. The data structure passed to API is a “struct” so technically should be possible but my initial tests did not work.If it should be possible an example for “getGlobalMenuOptions()” operation will be an added value. Thanks for any answer.Best regards,Gianni

Hi all,I am trying to trace down an annoying issue related to opening files in Uniface Runtime but unfortunately I am not able to identify an origin and a solution. Here it is the scenario:    - A centralized server (Windows 2019 Datacenter) sharing a disk    - All users (normally 120 but up to 150 concurrent) refers to this server to startup a Uniface application in C/S mode    - Log is activated for all sessions ($ioprint = 1)The system is up’n running 24x7 and issues I am going to list are happening mainly from 8:00 to 20:00 when most users are at work but there are cases also outside this timeframe like in the evening (20:00 to 24:00)  and also in the middle of the night (00:00 to 06:00).Issues:    - 20% (extimated) = daily Uniface sessions terminating without any signal or message or other… nothing!    - 79% = Session unable to write log file on shared disk (message:    ULOG Error: Failed to write to .\log\[NETWORK_NODE_NAME]_[PROCESS_PID].log) in this case a UNIxxxxx.log file is c

This subject seems to be changing every week. (Yes, I have read the AI posting form @Mike Rajkowski  from 2 years ago, but we are living in the super-fast lane) I keep seeing new AI’s focusing on specific niches.   According to my Google AI search Claude and Lovable are the current AI that understand Unibasic (I always search for Unibasic because PICK and BASIC are too generic).  I decided to explore Lovable with a paid subscription and have had good results creating MV programs.  I even uploaded sample MV A/R accounting module documentation, and Lovable generated working screens and programs (not MV programs) with logic to connect with a LiteSQL database!!! I could use the screens on desktop and mobile devices. I do plan on fine-tuning my results to use Unibasic and see what it does.  What is everyone using, and for what purpose?

Hello Team, I am integrating the VS code for COBOL development and i have blocker on the debug part as i am not able to get the connection to VS code when the batch is executed, do we need to set up extra in the launch file?

Hello,We are currently using D3 and noticed that the number of RPC client connections is limited to 3, as shown by the :MAXUSERS command.During some long-running update processes (updating more than 4,000 items), an RPC connection remains allocated for 1 to 2 minutes, which can become a limitation when multiple processes run simultaneously.Could you please confirm whether the maximum number of RPC client connections can be increased? If so:Is this a configurable parameter? Does it require an additional license? What is the maximum supported number of RPC client connections?Thank you for your assistance.Best regards,

Is the use and setting of the FCD information different between native COBOL and NET COBOL?My reason for asking is that I have taken the code from our native application straight across into a NET COBOL equivalent and I am finding that setting the address for the file name and key block is not being taken across to our external filehandler correctly.

Hello everyone,  based on your experience con you suggest Minimum/maximum required internet bandwidth (and suggested latency and Jitter) for an AcuConnect Thin Client (v. 10.5.0) App (an ERP) for 15 users?I understand that is involved the behaviour of underlying programs, but we’re facing some different User Experience and current bandwith seems to have relevance. Thanks in advance, Giovanni
