Hi, Are the licenses mapped at a user level or at a device level for the Rocket Emulator? Since we have multiple users assigned to a single device - we want to know if that would be counted as 1 license, or it will be counted as multiple licenses for multiple users?------------------------------debabrata DasRocket Forum Shared Account------------------------------

Hello all, We are using the Uniface 10.3 and 10.4 IDE Utilities to build Deployment Archives for patches of our application. The Uniface Repository is kept in an Oracle Database. Since we has installed the latest patch (Rocket Uniface 10.4.02-050) the Deployment Archive tool is having problems. The error ORACLE Driver Error [-80]: Column has incorrect ORACLE storage format is shown. The expected storage format is not the same as the actual storage format. Changing the storage format from VARCHAR2 to CHAR for the UDESCR field in the table does not help. The same message occurs again. (See below). We were able to fill out the forms, but we were not able to create the actual UAR. It also happened that both forms were empty and no new definition could be created with the same name. When we looked in the database the information about the archives are available in the tables. Has anyone seen the same? I am working with a customer who is contemplating what to do with a couple of old Uniface applications that are still based on Uniface 7 & Uniface 8.4, as  these applications are based on an unsupported infrastructure and need to be modernized. The documentation states pretty plainly that dimensioned arrays declared as a common variable must be a static size. Is there a technique or pattern that anyone has discovered to get around this?  I want to resize my common arrays as needed, but I'm at a loss how I can make this work. Is it possible?

Dear all I would like to share one useful information of my experience in trying to increase iCluster's data replication transport rate by changing one control parameter of IBM i TCP/IP in both IBM i machines.    iCluster 9.1.0 - later upgraded to 9.1.1 running in IBM i 7.4 with recent PTFs in Power S914 with 2-core CPU allocation + 64GB main memory for both PRD and DR machines that link together with Internet WAN with 6 GB data link.   IBM i LAN is 10Gbps fiber. A few months ago, I observed iCluster's data rate from my customer's IBM i PRD to DR machines during several nightly batch process runs from midnight to around 01:00 AM (with IBM i PDI chart named Ethernet Protocol Overview)  and found that the peak data rate shown in the chart of this batch run period reached about 18,000 KB/sec max and the entire replication took about 3 hours to finish.   I keep data rate chart from my past customers who used either iCluster or MIMIX, and noticed that a few of them achieved the peak data

Hello We are working on Uniface 10.4.01 on server window 2012 and we want to upgrade the Windows version So, I'm trying to install Uniface 10.4.01  -4 bits) on a server Win2019 and I have an error. I don't understand why Uniface cannot find UORA71, because it is in the directory : C:\\BIOM\\PROGRAM_FILES\\Uniface\\Uniface 10.4.01\\common\\bin which is in the path of the server. Does anyone know why in the conversion from 10.3 to 10.4 some of the forms which used to fit correctly now display scroll bars and have to be resized and (more difficult to manage) a form I have with 4 small output boxes (Progress bar/indicator I want to update asynchronously), now covers the entire output box with a scroll bar unless I make it 2 rows deep? I have checked the 10.3 and 10.4 ini  files, and the font sizes for the canvas font, editfont and label are all the same (although in 10.4 they appear to be surrounded by "" where in 10.3 they are not. I can put up the export for the progress form if anyone wants to try it in their environment.  Regards,  Iain------------------------------Iain SharpHead of Technical ServicesPci Systems LtdSheffield GB------------------------------

Hello,   I'm freshly exposed to UniVerse and would like connect to an instance running on my network (using UOPY).  Looking though the online API Documentation at uopy,  I am unable to find details on the parameters for the MV configuration (uopy.config) . The documentation assumes familiarity with UniVerse and its typical settings. I have found that deleting an instance of a component does not release the open cursors that were created during the instance. They remain and are not reused... Even though they are obsolete. Hi FreaksI have just installed UnifAce 10.4.2.0-049 for testing.And the first problem was that encryption for internal, short-term critical content no longer worked. It turned out that $encode/$decode with "TWOFISH" now checks the key length more precisely. Hi FreaksIn Uniface 9 I generate prcedures at compile time by preprocessor directives.That's wonderful if you need the same algorithm for similar things. We're using latest version of ZMF Explorer for VS Code. We would like to release what we've set up till now to users, but we've still some open points. We've seen that it's "too easy" for the VS Code user to navigate through a full list of all baselined sources of a specific application (we may have applications with 10,000  sources...) Same with the list of all packages. I know that it's possible to set up a filter but I don't know if I may define a "default" filter to be distributed to all users so that they would not need to set it up manually. I would also like to be able to filter packages based on their status and not only on their name (in VS Code developers are more interested in DEV status packages than in BAS packages....). Application using a API to call Cics Web Services build as a JSON(restful)  CICS commarea deteriorates when time goes thru. Cics partition is recycled in the evening, so in the morning the results to the API come in about 200ms, as time goes thru it increases, we begin with 200 ms now at noon we have 900 ms. The program used in the cics web service seems to respond in a timely maner and keeping between 10-20 ms.  Any idea what causes this degradation ? Hi everyone. I am working with 3rd party ssystem, that provides a web interface for their services.  Have to use get/put/post for various things.  Their examples use curl.  I tested the connection on my system using curl.  There is an error with the SSL certificate(s) apparently, as curl complains until I add the -k (--unsecure) option.   That's fine, there is no private data, and everything will be inside a vpn.  BUT. When I try to connect using RMNET, I get an error 7.  When I check the NetGetError, the text is: "SSL peer certificate or SSH remote key was not OK".  Fine.  That's basically what curl said.  So I tried the NetSSLVerifyPeer command to turn off the verify.  Same error.  (Note: The response-LEN is zero when doing the HttpGet) Flow: CALL "NetInit" GIVING AIMS-STATUS-CODE. hello, I have had to install VC 9.0 2022 on a new PC, due to the failure of the previous PC, after installing VS2020 professional 17.1o and Windows SDK location = D:\\Program Files (x86)\\Micro Focus Visual COBOL\\Microsoft\\SDK\\10 version = 10.0.19041.0 Microsoft Build Tools location = D:\\Program Files (x86)\\Micro Focus Visual COBOL Microsoft version = 14.34.31933. I load VS2022, and no VC options appear in the IDE.I have tried to repair the VC installation, but it gives error 0x8007000a. How should I proceed to have a correct installation? Regards

My new host runs 5.14.0-362.18.1.el9_3.x86_64.  I am used to Server Express 5.1 running on an older OS. Can I use Server Express 9.0 on my new Oracle Linux host? Someone told me I can't and need to go with Visual Cobol Development HUB for my development and install Cobol Server for my runtime. Is that the best route to go? I will be installing both on the same host running Oracle Linux 9.3. The current user of Cobol on the older host just executes things via CLI.  No X-Windows. With Visual Cobol Development HUB and Cobol Server he can still do that correct? thanks!   Roy M.

So I have a dilemma.    There is a callx set on a file called FM.  I need to update the FM file with a program but if I do it calls the callx.   Is there a way inside the program to write to the fm file but disable the callx that is set?     I want to be able to update the file FM without triggering the callx.  @Brian Cram; under the umbrella  "It is common knowledge (or most D3 Linux people know)  that…"; I've been baffled by this, but gracefully, I have a solution. My client has a General Ledger (let's call it Database – I don't wish to call it a D3 account) that strangely has a file called – ACCOUNTS.   This ledger file (ACCOUNTS) is used on other D3 databases (accounts) via a Q-pointer.   Now the "problem"; assuming one wishes to use the 'a' option in attribute 9 of the USERS file to start the accounting (logon logoff etc. etc.) – this file is referred to in most D3 accounts as … yep you guessed it ACCOUNTS! So, combined with the TIMEOUT option, you can experience an ITEM-LOCK (or GROUP-LOCK) very often. So, tip – DON'T have a file called ACCOUNTS (or a Q pointer for that matter to another D3 account) – or remove the 'a' option in the USERS file.
