Hullo all. I hope the collective intelligence of the community can help guide us here. We have a large-ish program written & running under AcuGT (Extend) for Windows. It has a Windows UI. It is a real-time transaction processing engine with a UI to monitor and control the activity. So it runs in 2+ threads but its a single program. We want to split this into two programs: A transaction processing engine that runs as a Windows Service, so it launches on boot and is always running. No UI at all. A UI that interacts with the above program. Ideally we would just take the existing code - the current UI thread - and make minimal changes to it, so it will still be an AcuGT/Extend program. But users could launch/run it using AcuToWeb. We want to put minimal effort into this, as it does not extend the functionality of our product, it just solves some security + remote-access issues. Hi all. We will be interacting with electronic labels, and the API is a bunch of restful web services, so we'll be using the RMNET routines.  I know the C$SOCKET functions are not "thread safe" because if you wait for a response, all threads will block (my manual tells me so!) but I was wondering about the RMNET routines.  Do they have the same limitation or can I launch a thread to do the API transaction, while the main function continues on?  The manual doesn't mention either way.

Hello, I was not able to figure out the issue , when im trying to integrate microfocus dlls and COBOL files to webapi c#  endpoint call. The below exception is throwing when executing cobol business logic.It's not working in webapi/wcf calls.It's executed only in winforms application.Could you please do help on this issue.Are these cobol dll integration work in web development?

I do not work with this program, but am trying to assist in a server migration that involved upgrading Syspro which utilizes Micro Focus components. Upon trying to run an install, I receive this error message: 0x81f40001 - Micro Focus COBOL Server 3.0 must be uninstalled before continuing.  I feel as if I have tried everything and removed everything I could find to no avail- I keep getting this error. Where does this live and how does one remove it?

I have found that signatures for components remain even after the component has been deleted.  I also, did not find a way to remove many signatures at once(except via sql). Have you upgraded to either 11.4 or 12.2?  A while back I went from 11.3 to 12.1.  (In our case, we were motivated to jump because we were running on an old version of Windows server  that our system admins wanted to upgrade &, iirc, our version of 11.3 wasn't authorized for where they wanted to go.) We've had some I/O problems with 12.1 & it looks like Rocket is not really maintaining 12.1 with hot-fixes or enhancements & instead encouraged us to go to 12.2.    But now I see there is an 11.4.  And rumor has it there may be at least 1 more 12.1 I/O bug that hasn't been fixed yet in 12.2. We aren't really using any new 12.x functionality, & other than having to tweak some admin utilities that rely on things like LIST.READU which has changed,  I think we could go 'back' to 11.4 if that is a more stable release. Hi all I have a particularly disturbing situation that's just come about.I have BASIC code (source) which I compile in which I purposely place a DEBUG statement.Whereas before the DEBUGGER would provide me with the source code lines - I now am presented with the response:no source and sometimes get : * remote file system error Remote file has been moved or deleted The D3 account is in the FSI portion and the code is simply: 1< >debug <2 >crt 'hello' Any ideas (please)? p.s. Yes I bounced the D3 machine and the Linux machine and redid and got the same results.

What I am trying to achieve is the ability to transfer files from the PC to the mainframe as well as then deleting those files after the transfer. Problem: How can one determine  how many parameters a COBOL program has been called with, for example "CALL 'A' USING A, B, C"? On the mainframe it is possible to use an Assembler program to search the save area chain  to find the previous save area and retrieve reg 1 from that save area.   How can this be done in COBOL? Resolution: This can be acheived by using the routine CBL_GET_PROGRAM_INFO() to walk back up the call stack.  This will determine how many parameters each program was called with.   See attached demo programs for an example of using this function.  These programs need to be compiled using the Non-Mainframe dialect in Mainframe Express 'proga' calls 'progb' with two parameters. Hi I'm in process of upgrade applications from RM version 11 to RM ver 12 and for testing I'm using version 12.17 with WOW Extensions same version. The thing is that in version 11 I've used the form property WSDefinition in order to develop more complicated and large programs and also faster compilig. But when I use the test version 12.17, I got an error compiling when WSDefinition is enabled.  Is there something am I missing?. Thanks for any help. Is there any way to disable the whole-screen copy when there is no active selection? When pressing Ctrl-C (or Ctrl-Ins if that's what's defined in settings) with no active selection, the entire screen gets copied. If you then hit Ctrl-V it pastes the entire contents of the screen. This is a big problem because it you accidentally hit Ctrl-C then Ctrl-V when editing, you end up with garbage in your file, and if there was a "fi" on the screen it becomes permanent, requiring restoring from backup. Example - after the first "12", I intended to hit Ctrl-V to paste in "r/7/9" and instead managed to hit both Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V at the same time, which ended up pasting the contents of the screen and filing some records I had intended to edit that are now in a questionable state. Thankfully this is a tame example and I will be able to correct them without restoring from backup, but it's still frustrating have to do cleanup. Hi all I know I posted this (somewhere) before but it got "lost"I'm experiencing "hanging" after I issue a shutdown command with the new 10.4x on Linux. Follow me through with this. The shutdown command executes the odbc-setup command with a 'close' option (line 412) The odbc-setup option expects a confirmation of this option (line 167) which it never receives (from the original shutdown command)This results in the process "hanging" until a CR is issued. Please confirm - because that's what I'm experiencing. Thanks Stefano

I've been trying to create an updated Universe box using Rocky Linux. When I tried to connect with AccuTerm 7.3 it tells me there's no supported key exchange scheme. I'm not sure but I think it's because Rocky Linux removed the two ciphers that this version of AccuTerm supports, triple DES and blowfish. I found a post where Pete mentioned that there was an update to 7.4 that had support for newer encryption standards. I was wondering if that's available anywhere?

I am getting an error that is confusing me. Searching the forum, I see that  not having the EXT ATTR = EXT is the most common reason for the CMS2361 error.    Is there a second most-common reason that I might be missing?   It has been a while since I've created one of these; it's possible I've forgotten a step.  Thank you so much for your time and help. Hi Freaks My challenge:In a non modal world I have to check on FormLoseFocus some conditions and  ask the user how to proceed.I.e stay in the instance or leave it to the clicked one. Under certain circumstances, data is also storedAs mentioned in the documentation, in a FRLF trigger the allowed statments  are limited, especialy a ask-message should not be presented to the userSo my idea is to send a message to the current(old) instance (and return with -1) which calls the ASYNC-trigger. In this I can call check routines and ask the user,But now I run into a problem:If the user say leave the current instance and go to the clicked (new) instance, which instance is this?Question:Is there any way to get (in FRLF) the instance,  which should get the focus next? BTW: For the good old version 9.7  I did a comlpex ping-pong coding to get such information and handle checks and stores on FRLFBut with 10,4 the sequnce was changed and I did not find a way to implement our needs ...
