Hello Team, I am integrating the VS code for COBOL development and i have blocker on the debug part as i am not able to get the connection to VS code when the batch is executed, do we need to set up extra in the launch file?
Is the use and setting of the FCD information different between native COBOL and NET COBOL?My reason for asking is that I have taken the code from our native application straight across into a NET COBOL equivalent and I am finding that setting the address for the file name and key block is not being taken across to our external filehandler correctly.

Hello everyone, based on your experience con you suggest Minimum/maximum required internet bandwidth (and suggested latency and Jitter) for an AcuConnect Thin Client (v. 10.5.0) App (an ERP) for 15 users?I understand that is involved the behaviour of underlying programs, but we’re facing some different User Experience and current bandwith seems to have relevance. Thanks in advance, Giovanni
Is Visual COBOL not supported in Visual Studio 2026? I received this message when trying to open a .sln created in VS 2022.Thanks
When running my program, I am getting this error: A 9D,03 error means the XFD is missing - but it is in the folder that our batch file is pointing to, and it is the correct layout. Anything else that would be causing this error?

My company currently uses Net Express 3.1 and will be migrating to Visual COBOL within the next several months. We use the SPZERO compiler directive on majority of the programs we migrated off the mainframe several years ago. This is due to having spaces in numeric fields on the old mainframe data files. At the time of migration, it was better to use SPZERO than to modify the files/programs. I read in the Visual COBOL documentation that SPZERO has been deprecated and is not supported in Visual COBOL. Is there an alternate way to accomplish the same behavior as SPZERO in Visual COBOL? Thanks,Ben#VisualCOBOLautoscalemodescreenresolution#COBOL#netexpress

Hi allIs it possible to save a file (fx .pdf, .docx) in a vision file?Currently I copy the file to the server and creates a record in a vision file with the original file name and server file name. So, when the user need the file, I can copy the server file to the client PC.It would be easier to maintain, if I can save the file in the vision file and extract it when the user needs it,Regards Kim

I have developed a generic routine in AcuCobol to interface with COPILOT. You just need to write a program that gets and submits a query, gets a reply listing the filters associated to the query, reads through your application’s records returning those that satisfy the filters. Then wait for the reply with the answer to the query from Copilot. The routine also provides an option to validate the dictionary used to describe the files being queried about. Hi There,We are looking for migrating a IBM Mainframe application to cloud and considering conversion to Rocket visual cobol. The application is a batch application consisting Cobol, JCL, DB2, VSAM, Flat and Tape files. The JCL would need to be converted to shell, VSAM to ISAM, files to Linux standard files and Db2 to Postgres. Can you please share the basic architecture and solution framework for Rocket Visual Cobol migration. Also, what all licenses need to be considered for target side from Rocket perspective. Regards,Gauri

The PICTURE-01-OBJREF is being used by my 1st image (and it is automatically resizing) using the “ImageCtl” program. The problem is I have 2nd image (JPG/BMP) on the same window, I already change the value of IO-Text-Buffer but it not showing and messing my 1st image.Any sample code that will display an image (BMP/JPG) in the same window when created/showed?
We would like to open a PDF file in the program and extract an attachment (in this case, an XML file) from this PDF file.Is there a way to do this?
My legacy code generates a lot of long reports targeted at printers that used mono-spaced fonts to get all the column alignments right. Usually this was Courier. I would rather print to PDF as most of these reports are reviewed and disposed of almost immediately. I am moving the system to Windows and have found that I can print to PDF using the built in "Microsoft Print to PDF" driver. The problem is that they print with a proportional font and the columns don't line up and a few characters on a few lines go off the right side of the page. I would guess the font is Arial. Is there a config file that I can edit/create to change this font? I know there are 3rd party tools that bring in a whole slew of additional features, but that would require me to review and edit dozens of reports. Thanks, Brian
In native COBOL we could define a dictionary and that could be set as external which allowed us to access it via our external filehandler. In .NET COBOL it seems it is no longer possible to define a dictionary as external. Can anyone suggest an alternative given that the information that can be passed to an external filehandler is limited and controlled by the run-time?
