With the  latest release of UniVerse we have also published a tech note article that covers a  Python script to Automatically License / Authorise / Authorize UniVerse and UniData. Hello Everyone.  I am giving this a try and one thing that is throwing me for a loop is the server connection.  We have used the "BDT" tooling in Eclipse for a long time, and with that solution we could specify the servicename parameter from unirpcservices configuration.  There doesn't seem to be an option to do this within the configuration files for MV BASIC in VSCODE.   Can anyone tell me if there is an undocumented property for this?   For our environments here, we have the defcs/udcs entries set to 5 seconds timeout.  This causes the MV BASIC connection to almost immediately get disconnected.  We have alternate services defined with longer timeouts, which with UOJ, Eclipse BDT and UOPY connections we can choose this value.   Thanks in advance, Aaron------------------------------Aaron TitusSenior ArchitectF W Davison and Company Inc. Good day, I am using Unidata 8.2 and building a web frontend to a Unidata application. What I'm trying to figure out is a good method for detecting console message such as Unassigned variables or Unopened file variables during the process. Yes, the messages are being displayed in the COMO, however so is a lot of other information, and I don't want to parse the COMO for console messages. I do want to report the messages back up to the user. Is there an EASY way to detect/trap those console messages? Hi allI reside in the UK and for our "sins" we still honor the European data format of DD/MM/YYYY. There is a conversion code which 'e'  which according to the D3 manual states: e Uses european date format regardless of current system default setting This is great, however, I discovered something rather disturbing and am wondering whether anyone (this side of the Atlantic) can see (a) if I'm doing something wrong OR (b) has uncovered this. BTW - I am aware of the set-date-eur option in a coldstart - which (in my case) I have not opted to have. See this code: *My_Date = '30/09/2022'*crt My_Dateb_date = '19997'crt b_datec = Oconv(b_date, 'D4/E')crt ccrt 'next 'd = Iconv(c, 'D4/E')crt dcrt ' and Done!' Trying to use some XML functionality and the doc's aren't very useful. But this is my first attempt trying to deal with XML on UniVerse and in general. The purpose is pretty straightforward, take XML feeds, break them down and write them to a UniVerse File. I started with writing a small program in BASIC to try to get familiar with the syntax and flow and utilize the XML functions available to me instead of creating my own parser. Getting unexplained error, basically having to do with the xml_handle or handler ? I'll attach results as well as the test file. I then tried to mimic the program below and get farther along, but not getting any data. A couple of points: 1) I've only mapped the first 4 items of the XML file and created those 4 items in the DICT (out of 25) Thanks for any assistance.....Plus, how/when is the data written to the UniVerse file. Found a new file in D3 that you need to keep an eye on: DM,ERRORS,END. This file gets an entry every time you END a phantom job from TCL. A friend of mine had a VME crash because there were over a million items in that file. If you END a lot of phantoms from TCL, you're probably headed in the same direction. Best solution is to turn off the logging to do that, you'll need to set up a config item in the DICT of the DM,ERRORS, file and fix a bug in one of our subroutines. The bug has been reported and will be fixed in a later release of D3. First the subroutine: DM,BP, END.SUB: You need to flip lines 63 and 64: 063 end064 if logit = 0 then outNoLog = 1 should be: 063  if logit = 0 then outNoLog = 1064 end Then COMPILE DM,BP, END.SUB (O Then create this item in the DICT DM,ERRORS, file:   config.end001002003 logging=off This will turn off logging. Hi All, I'm trying to get an EDA setup for one of the files in an account. However, whenever I try to open the dictionary in the EDA, it freezes and then crashes after 10 or so minutes. I've upped the memory allocation to the eclipse.ini to 4G as before it would give me a HEAP error. I'm not sure what else to do to troubleshoot this. Hello,   I'm freshly exposed to UniVerse and would like connect to an instance running on my network (using UOPY).  Looking though the online API Documentation at uopy,  I am unable to find details on the parameters for the MV configuration (uopy.config) . The documentation assumes familiarity with UniVerse and its typical settings. We're having an ellusive error calling a BP from Java code. So I have a dilemma.    There is a callx set on a file called FM.  I need to update the FM file with a program but if I do it calls the callx.   Is there a way inside the program to write to the fm file but disable the callx that is set?     I want to be able to update the file FM without triggering the callx.  @Brian Cram; under the umbrella  "It is common knowledge (or most D3 Linux people know)  that…"; I've been baffled by this, but gracefully, I have a solution. My client has a General Ledger (let's call it Database – I don't wish to call it a D3 account) that strangely has a file called – ACCOUNTS.   This ledger file (ACCOUNTS) is used on other D3 databases (accounts) via a Q-pointer.   Now the "problem"; assuming one wishes to use the 'a' option in attribute 9 of the USERS file to start the accounting (logon logoff etc. etc.) – this file is referred to in most D3 accounts as … yep you guessed it ACCOUNTS! So, combined with the TIMEOUT option, you can experience an ITEM-LOCK (or GROUP-LOCK) very often. So, tip – DON'T have a file called ACCOUNTS (or a Q pointer for that matter to another D3 account) – or remove the 'a' option in the USERS file. I have an MVIS dynamic array defined that has 24 items defined, whose locations are 1-24. However, when MVIS send these to the subroutine, I am seeing 4 <blank> values coming in that I cannot account for: Yes                    <--location 20 No                     <--location 21 F24                   <--location 22 <blank> <blank> <blank> <blank> 220557            <--location 23 6.00                  <--location 24 I have tried deleting and re-adding the last 3, restarted the integration server & even changed the order of the fields but it continues to send the 4 blank values. Hello friends and colleagues! I am running #AccuTerm v8.0.1026 with a premium license issued by Zumasys. This version doesn't show any updates available and I have questions about features and the futrure of this software. 1) Almost all of my work these days is with #Ubuntu Linux and AccuTerm continues to satisfy most needs. I'm hoping to integrate AccuTerm more with the OS, and see this fine application being referenced in Linux-centric circles. Does Rocket have a similar vision? 2) These days it wouldn't be "too" tough to convert critical host code from FP.BP to JavaScript and run from shell, ideally with NodeJS rather than MV. Is anything being done on that front? 3) Since AccuTerm responds to escape sequences from the host, any host, has there been any effort to define or wrap common features at the OS level to invoke functionality in the client? Blinks. Our product uses the Universe database with Pick Flavored account running on various Windows OS platforms. What, if anything, can be done to reduce the number of file  blinks that we are seeing? Three causes that we've identified so far are: Power failure, No more disk space, Anti-virus.  Are any UV versions (or Windows versions) more susceptible than others to Blinks? Hi all We want to know which users are locking a file. What we do now: 1- Execute LIST.READU. We can get the PID of the session that is locking the file. 2- With this PID we can execute a LISTU command or run a ps BASH command 3- Parse the output so we can pair PIDs and usernames This is quite convoluted, and, also, we have discovered that the LIST.READU output has changed in the newer Universe version (even with the INTERNAL parameter) so we have to keep check of the system version to get the PIDs. I needed to extract just the 4-digit year from an invoice file.  I created both an "A" and "D" dictionary item using "DY4" (called ORDER.YEAR) It lists the file perfectly, but when I try to select using ORDER.YEAR it finds nothing:      ex:  SELECT BILLING WITH ORDER.YEAR EQ "2019" 0 record(s) selected to SELECT list #0. Also strange - if I add a "[" OR a "]" OR both, it works?      ex:  SELECT BILLING WITH ORDER.YEAR EQ "[2019"  or               SELECT BILLING WITH ORDER.YEAR EQ "2019]" or               SELECT BILLING WITH ORDER.YEAR EQ "[2019]" My solution was to create an I-discriptor to avoid issues in the future: 0001: I0002: OCONV(@RECORD<29>,"DY4")0003:0004: NYR0005: 4R0006: S0007: My fellow developers and I could not explain this, as it must be a flaw in the back-end. I have reported this to support but wondered if a) anyone else has seen this issue, and b) warn those of you that may be unaware of it. The GETLIST or GETLISTV statement in QM Basic (not to be confused with GET-LIST from TCL) uses the syntax: GETLIST "LISTNAME" TO MY.LIST SETTING CNT ELSE whatever.... The SETTING CNT is what's broken here. Rather than return the count of items in LISTNAME it returns the count of the most recent active select list you may have had - even though it's no longer active. You can test this quite simply by writing a program such as: PRINT "Listname: ":INPUT LNAMEGETLIST LNAME TO MY.LIST SETTING CNT ELSE STOPCRT "Record Count: ":CNTFOR I = 1 TO CNT   CRT MY.LIST<I>NEXT I If you compile / catalog that, then create yourself a savelist with 1 or 2 items in it then log off. I was migrating to a new server running Rocky Linux 9.4 and everything is working good. D3 installed, Cups working, migrated all Linux users, etc. When using Putty SSH it all works. But when I try to connect via AccuTerm 8 Secure Shell SSH version: auto, I get: No supported signature scheme exists (SSH).  -   and when I click to view details it says. No supported SSH2 signature scheme exists. The list of supported signature schemes received from the remote host does not contain a scheme supported by the local machine. SSH_ERROR_UNSUPPORTED_SIGN).
