Can Unidata do SFTP? I have written socket language interfaces to SMTP and others. Is it the same type of interface for SFTP? I'm having a hard time finding the direct interface commands it needs. I can connect and get info from the socket but it never asks for User name/Password.Most of the google results point to using WinSCP, but i'd rather do the commands myself. Anyone been down this path?------------------------------David GreenComputer ProgrammerRocket Forum Shared Account------------------------------
We have been asked to provide a rough storage estimate for moving a Universe DB to SQL Server. Any general rules of thumb for estimating storage use on the new platform? I'm not familiar with Universe, but from what I've been able to gather the record and index storage is very different. Thank You------------------------------donald TiptonDBARocket Forum Shared Account------------------------------
I am running Universe 11.3.4 on RHEL 7.7 using AccuTerm 7.3a as my emulator. When I login normally my backspace works. I need to use root permission for some of my phantoms. At TCL prompt I will SH to Unix level then su to root then uv back to universe. My backspace key quits working. I can manually fix it by running a PTERM command. Is there away to permanently fix this?Jon CardCombined Transport Inc
cHi AllD3 10.4 on Redhat LinuxCaution: DO NOT change the hostname in /etc/hosts AFTER you have installed D3! Sadly, connections to D3 with subsequently be "refused" - and you'll likely break out in a cold sweat as I did :( (Unless someone can advise me otherwise) Does the "reference" to localhost appear in any config record - which will explain my finding? If not this should be noted (in the manual!)------------------------------Stefano GallottaManaging MemberSimply Red Open SystemsMilnerton ZA------------------------------
Hi, I configured the plugin to connect to my Unidata server, but I keep getting: "Failed to connect account". This is a remote server on my network. Also I'm aware I cannot modify the programs directly on the server. Is there a log that I can check to see what is the problem? We also have some custom rpc service name, could that be a problem?I just want to be able to access the catalog programs so the GOTO Definition works, same for the include statements.Any help is greatly appreciated.Alejandro
I am working on a SB+ screen app where when I bring up a record, information gets displayed, and then when I immediately press F2, this error (in the subject) is displayed followed by:index: 0 to one dimension matrix is out of range..at which time SB+ aborts to the colon prompt.I've checked my code to see if I'm updating some common variable in an unusual fashion but not finding anything like that. Can anyone with access to the source please tell me which variable is whacked and what I can do about it?Another oddity, I am pressing F2 while the common variable CNT = 1. However, when inspect CNT, it's always 1315 - which is about 22% through the mv's being shown on the screen. This doesn't happen all the time, but with one specific record I can make it happen EVERY time. Also, I checked the record for any weird control characters and there are none. I even removed the mv set of data with CNT = 1315 and CNT is still 1315 when it blows up. Any input about what variable is whacked wou
As I've mentioned, I am on Universe, on Linux, using Accuterm. There is a format in these programs I've inherited that looks like this....FPATH='C:\\Users\\kathleenh\\Downloads\\'DOC='2022-Farm-Market-Application.pdf'PRINT CHAR(27):CHAR(2):"<":FPATH:DOC:CHAR(13)Don't really understand it, but don't need to if it works - which it does :)But what I am trying to do right now is move a doc (jpeg, xlsx, word, pdf, whatever) from either a network spot OR a c drive location to another spot within a basic program. I tried using a '<' and then a '>' for the two locations but that didn't work.My question is does anyone know how (or if possible) to use this feature (which I think is Accuterm) to move a file from one location to another?OR......What other functions / tools would work to do this? Obviously the user has to have permission to both files. Since I can do the above command to either the C drive or network drives I imagine access is not the issue or holdup - just my ignorance. I
I have created a REST service using MVIS, which will "listen" for inbound calls. Can it also be used to send outbound REST calls, or would that require a U2 program to utilize BASIC host subroutines (like createSecureRequest, etc.) outside of MVIS?
Docker ContainersjBASE is officially Docker certified! With a single command, you can pull down a working jBASE image from the Docker Hub and have your jBASE application up and running in a container. What used to take days can now be accomplished in seconds - it really is that easy. With Docker, you can package every piece of your application and database into lightweight, portable containers that build themselves. If you have ever built a MultiValue environment from the ground up, you know it is a long process. Our Docker images bundle everything you need - from Linux to jBASE - to get your application working with the click of a button. Can you containerize a MultiValue database from one of our competitors? Probably. But chances are good it will still look and act like a monolithic virtual machine. jBASE is the only MultiValue database that can be broken down in the true spirit of containers with your database and application running in separate Docker containers. What is a Container?A
The following changes apply to the Windows installer for jBASE release 5.8: Compiler installation is treated as a prerequisite and is prompted for first. If compiler installation is skipped the user will receive a warning to confirm that this is intentional. After accepting the license agreement, the Microsoft Visual C Runtime is installed, and some temporary files needed by the installer are unpacked. After selecting an installation type (Express or Advanced) and the installation directory (JBCRELEASEDIR), there is a new prompt to select the jBASE Global directory (JBCGLOBALDIR). Beginning with release 5.8.0, all configuration files and some other common files have been moved from JBCRELEASEDIR to JBASEGLOBALDIR. In this way, upgrading to newer jBASE releases is simplified because the configuration information is stored independent of the jBASE release. License keys are no longer entered during installation. Follow instructions included with your license document for entering license

I have a UniVerse customer, a county highway department. Over the years we have accumulated a lot of lat/lon coordinates for different resources. I would like to propose adding a GIS interface to the system. My question, has anyone already done this to any multi value database and can you suggest products to research? I have looked, a little, at ArcGIS because they have some low cost online training.
Reading the documentation for @ Variables, it seems inconsistent for @DAY to come from the established @DATE, yet the other, similarly named variables should be based on the current date. Variable Read-Only Value @DATE Internal date when the program was invoked. @DAY Day of month from @DATE. @MONTH Current month. @YEAR Current year (2 digits). @YEAR4 Current year (4 digits). The following experiment confirms the current-date @ variable documentation does not reflect the behavior of UniVerse 11.3.1.6022. All values relate to the established @DATE value. Disabling automatic date and time, set the clock to late New Year's eve, run the program, celebrate the new year, and let the program finish. AtDay 0001 program AtDay 0002 0003 D = DATE() 0004 print "DATE(): ":DATE():", ": OCONV(D,"D4/") 0005 print "@MONTH: ":@MONTH 0006 print "@DAY: ":@DAY 0007 print "@YEAR: ":@YEAR 0008 print "@YEAR

Trying to run CONVERT.SQL but getting an error. Not sure how to track this user down or change the owner. Clearly that uid is not a windows guid. The user id doesn't show up in LISTUSERS. I'm an admin on the server but I'm not sure how that relates to a superuser in unidata.Thanks,Seb------------------------------Sebastian NahapetianRocket Forum Shared Account------------------------------
Everyone out there know about D3's SET-DATE-WINDOW utility? It's something you can add to your cold start procedure to change the 2-digit year pivot point from 30 to something else. Example if you ICONV a date like 8/1/31, you'll get an internal date in the year 1931, not 2031 as you might expect. I have this in my USER-COLDSTART:SET-DATE-WINDOW 60This tells my D3 system to assume that any two-digit years from 00 to 59 are 2000 to 2059, where 60 to 99 are 1960 to 1999. This is a LOT handier than handling it in your application.I'm posting this because there's a lot of useful stuff in D3 that I was unaware of until I became a Rocket employee and was actually forced to read the manual. Maybe some of you are in the same boat.https://www3.rocketsoftware.com/rocketd3/support/documentation/d3nt/103/refman/index.htmhttps://www3.rocketsoftware.com/rocketd3/support/documentation/d3server.jsp------------------------------Brian S. Hi Folks, newbie here.I have a UV account that I've backed up using uvbackup. I want to restore that account under a different account name. I'm not seeing any options on the uvrestore utility to do that. I definitely don't want to overwrite the existing production account with what I backed up previously, just set up a duplicate (although outdated) test account. Does anyone have any pointers to restore, say, the ACCT as TEST_ACCT using the backup file I created as shown below?Backed up using: D:\\U2\\UV\\bin\\uvbackup.exe -f -v -nodrive -walk D:\\dbms\\DATA1\\ACCT > D:\\UVBACKUP\\UVBACKUP_ACCT.UBK------------------------------Mark BakerSelect* Associates IncTimonium MD US------------------------------
Hi, all. I used to work for a Rocket UniData client who was able to restrict permissions on production in such a way that for designated production logins, it was not possible to write to disc. One could use the editor, but not file the record; no compiles or catalogs; no file creation; etc. Is there a documented way of setting up this feature? [It has obvious implications for SOX compliance.]------------------------------Ken CibellideveloperRocket Forum Shared Account------------------------------
