I'm interested if anyone uses NFS to store account data remotely, with something like Netapp Files:https://learn.microsoft.com/en-gb/azure/azure-netapp-files/network-attached-storage-protocols.In my own research of documentation I can see the following:[The ALLOWNFS] parameter should only be turned on in the following cases:- When UniVerse is not running or not installed on the remote system. File integrity is compromised when locks are not maintained on the remote system.- When the system administrator does not allow other UniVerse installations to gain access to the same remote UniVerse files at the same time.So this would seem to indicate we are OK. I think I need to clarify: does local Universe locking still apply when ALLOWNFS is in use (and does this depend on the locking provided by NFS - because capabilities/implementations differ from version to version).

The Universe UDO... functions handle UDOFORMAT_XML and UDOFORMAT_JSON just fine. Is any effort in progress to extend them to UDOFORMAT_YAML?

Running UD 8.3 on AIX with plenty of disk space. I have a number of large files (10M-50M) records that I want to re-size to improve overall performance, but more importantly, prevent any file corruption due to any file re-sizing activities. I am trying to find out what is the optimal number of records that each group should contain: 1- Is there a recommend number of records per group (keep it under 20 or a certain number)? This will allow me to properly size block and modulo.  2- Should I keep increasing size of the block until I have zero level 1 overflow, which means ignore number of records per group? Albeit I managed modulo size in conjunction with block size. Any insights or recommendations is greatly appreciated. Thank you

After performing an upgrade from UniVerse 12.1 to 12.2.1 - we receive the message "Your VOC is out of date. Update to current release (Y/N)?" on the initial LOGTO on each account. Is there a way to just complete these VOC updates en-masse for all accounts?  Your VOC is out of date. I have just loaded python3.13 and flask onto my rocky 9.5 system.  The system already has python3.9 as part of the rocky linux.  I have just installed idle3 wanting to use it to work with python3.13 and flask but find that it connects only to 3.9 where I do not have flask.  Does anyone know a way to either modify idle to connect to my 3.13 version or is there any way to get the "dnf install" to load it into my 3.13 directory structure?  I prefer to use idle instead of the plain 'ol text editor. Hi, I'm new on Unidata. Right now our company is using Manage 2000 with Unidata RDBMS 8.2 version. My question is, is it possible to open my unidata database to SQL Server Management Studio, how? If it's not possible can I create a view on SQL Server Management Studio containing all the data from my unidata database, how? I already created a view file and successfully compiled it but I can't still see it on the SQL Server Management Studio. I also created a link server on SQL Server Management Studio using the U2 ODBC.

Greetings Fellow Members! My co-worker and I have a issue with SB+ that we are banging our heads because we cannot find a solution. Below is a snapshot of the problem   As you can see,  our "PTEXT" is not getting opened, here.  However,  this is happening with other files, like our "HELP" and "DEFN" files.     Almost all of are users are using GUI, but this has popped up with one or two users who use the Character mode.  To make this more interesting, the following could happen:  This doesn't happen all the time.  When the user clicks on the "Continue" button (Sometimes they have to hit the "Continue" button multiple times), the error message eventually goes away.      Lock up their session and need to kick the user out. I have checked the VOC pointers and they are correctly pointing to the correct data files and dictionaries.  We believe it is coming from our SB+ interface and/or other processes.  &nb

The Unibasic subroutine containing the TRANSACTION START/COMMIT code is called from the outside as a web service. This failure is intermittent.  What can cause the STATUS code = 3 ? No supported signature schemes exist SSH.   I know that upgrading these to 8.1.2 corrects the issue, but we have over 200 installs of AccuTerm that we need to upgrade, but would like to upgrade Solaris first.  Any solutions?

Hi all, i have a bit of an issue with U2 ODBC trying to connect to uniVerse DB. I installed (at the then time v530 of client tools (ODBC 64bit) onto a workstation and then i was able to connect to the DB and query. Since then i have installed ODBC tools onto another workstation/pc/server (both on premise and within Azure) and completed the same setups i did previously but on these they do not work. i keep getting the same error message (as shown at the bottom of this post) i cannot use the existing workstaiton/PC as that client is not the one i will be completing the connection from when in prod (as it is my workstation used for testing) and also cannot use as unirpc is locked down to specific IP (the new workstation/PC i want to use in Azure).  With this being said, if i try to install ODBC onto another workstation, same result, doesn't connect. i am using both the ODBC Tester from the ODBC tools and the Test Connection option from windows (ODBC Data Sources 64-Bit) after creat

I inherited an old MVBase system running on windows.  I tried SH and CMD and cannot shell out.  Is this possible?  Also, I would like to make a file pointer to a directory in windows.  Is this possible?  I found that I can use a UOPEN to open an os file and write to a file.

I've been working with a friend on setting up a website that uses the U2 RESTful server.  My friend's been doing most of the work. It's been in development but there's a lot of things working. We named the rest server "rest_test". That's not a name that works for production so I'd like to rename it. The problem is, if I right-click on the server in the U2 REST Servers panel the rename function is disabled. I've tried copying the folder to a different name, exporting and importing it. No combination of steps has worked. I also don't like the number of steps you have to go through to "deploy" a rest server.  Export the file to a zip, unzip it, go to the u2restdeploy folder run the batch file to start the deploy tool, define where you want the files to be deployed to...  This is not a good model if you've got multiple developers making local changes that need to be moved to the server. So here are my questions: How do you rename a rest server? Are there easier ways to go d

Can anyone suggest a video showing how to use a simple HELLO WORLD program in Visual Basic that can be executed and run in Visual Studio Code? I installed the Java JDK as instructed by the Rocket extension but when I run the program it keeps asking me to install the extension (even though the Rocket extension shows as already installed). My simple test program has a suffix of '.vb' but the Rocket instructions said it must be '.b'. Does that mean the extension is only for BASIC and not for VISUAL BASIC programs?!? When I did change my simple program's extension from '.vb' to '.b', I received this message from VSC which I don't understand or know how to correct: Java 11 or Open JDK 11 runtime environment is irregular. Please check your Java environment and settings. Hello, I am currently working on creating a CentOS Steam 10 installation (latest) with the latest version of UV available as of this post (14.1.1.xx) The installation runs but there are many errors that complain about EGREP not being supported so grep -E is automatically being substituted and after the installation gets to "Installing default Global Basic..." there are thousands of VOC LIB errors. Some things that I learned from the installation is that libnsl and libxcrypt-compat are required to even begin it. Perhaps there are other requirements that are not listed in the basic docs that are "assumed" to be installed on a from scratch OS installation that I need to install? Just want to cover my basis before reverting down one level (CentOS Stream 9) due to the installer just not working. Usually, it's a me problem :) Thank you in advance!

Hello, I've looked online, and from what I can tell: there's no information on either of the question. We've run into an issue where a call is issued, but the operation is terminated or cancelled, but there's no way to signal the same to UniVerse. The other problem we've is: we "believe" we're hitting the maximum connections allowed, which leads to delayed responses on the front end as the call "waits" for the connection to become available again. I wonder is there a way to check the connection availability ahead of time, instead of just sitting there. Thank you!

We recently upgraded our application using U2.Data.Client from version 3.1.1.0 to 3.1.2.0, and we are encountering a different kind of issue with multithreading. I'm using the latest U2 64-+Bit ODBC Driver Version 7.241.02.9004.The ODBC Connection tests successfully and works perfectly in applications that use ODBC, such as Excel, Microsoft Access, and Microsoft Power BI Desktop.I am running a freshly installed local instance of Microsoft SQL Server Developer (64-bit) 15.0.2000.5 on Windows 10 Pro locally.I created a Linked Server connection using the Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers and it connects to the U2 database successfully, listing out all of the table names.  However, I cannot see any columns, nor can I query any data from the U2 tables.If I try scripting a select statement from a table, it says:[MYU2DATABASENAME]...[MYTABLENAME] contains no columns that can be selected or the current user does not have permissions on that object.Again, I can select all columns and data from these U2 Universe tables using the same credentials in other applications via ODBC.I need to be able to query data via a SQL Server Linked Server co
