Im trying to create a program that will call the AE command for me when typing 'ED' at TCL, but will leave anyone else in the 'ed' editor. I got that to work pretty easily but not sure how to make it work for a second level - such as after a select. Suggestions anyone? I don't want to give up my AE! But remembering to not type 'ED' isnt likely after 37 years! All,I received an error message from a phantom process the other day. It states that a register variable ($R32) is unassigned. At first blush I was confused, why would the run machine complain about a register variable that the compiler assigns? If I run VLIST on the program Line 77 shows $R32 being assigned a value. This process is run on many different part files (poor man's multi-threading) and I only get this message from one of the part file phantoms. It seems like the program is good. It would appear that if it were a data problem the compiler or run machine would complain about the problem data before it calls out a register variable.The register number and line number were obfuscated to protect the innocent. All,I recently had to start converting UTF-8 characters to ascii. I have a simple Unix /bin/sh script that does the conversion. It works fine from RHEL 6. When I run a BASIC program with EXECUTE SH -c 'same command' The results are basically correct, but the UTF-8 characters are returned as '?'s.Your thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. Script:#!/bin/shtemp=$(mktemp)eval "$1 -o $temp"cat $temp | iconv -c -f UTF-8 -t ascii//TRANSLITrm $temp$1 is a curl command to access a web call. The iconv Unix command translates from UTF-8 to ascii. The temp variable is the name of a unique temp file. I create it, use it and remove it.The execute in questions looks like EXECUTE SH -c 'curl command'Curl works, the temp file contains the web call data with the UTF-8 characters in it. From Unix it works correctly, from UniVerse the translation is flawed.Due to the API containing keys and such, I have not included them here, but they don't appears to have much to do with the problem.Jon

Is the accuterm documentation available online here in the Rocket site?I am attempting to FTD data into a spreadsheet where a given column is a calculation. Example column a divided by column b placed into column c. I can put the expression into the data field I will download and the expression executes BUT the data filled in the excel sheet is the result. I want the formula to be loaded into that column, not the result. I'm working on a script to copy files at the Linux level from one folder to another. The commands are:SH -c"find CIF.IMAGES -type f -exec mv {} /bl1/newfolder \\;"CIF.IMAGES is a folder in my account and I'm trying to move all of the files to the newfolder in /bl1. Hi Guys,got a conundrum for you !!!one of my users wanted a simple report to extract details for a part that needed data from the main report file containing most of the required data but also from another file in the same data account. BTW. We are Universe usersThe details in the local file are all single values, however the field for data from the other file is multivalued and the user only needs the first multi-value from the second field in the record in the other file.as this request was likely to be a one off, which I thought would a simple quick and dirty job, I did not want to bother with a sub-routine or create a program to explode the MV's in the other file into a workfile first or indeed write a program to do the whole report which needed to go into Excel.So I naively assumed that extracting this detail would be easily doable with I Descriptors.this is what the data record looks like in the second file0001: 04551VM14550VM04913VM049120002: 15143VM15148VM15150VM151600003: 12VM

I'm currently using UniVerse 11.3 for development on Windows. I would like to set up a linux server and move my UniVerse there. Does anyone know if it would be possible to also load OpenQM on the same server?Dale

The break key from any emulator I choose does not interrupt programs or UniQuery commands.  The only thing is display "yo" with diacritical marks if at an input prompt.I just do support for existing clients.  I have recently upgraded from a very old mvBase server to UniData on Win10.  I noticed ^C was not interrupting my programs, but I figured it was a emulator setting I could find later.  Well, this is later, and I cannot figure out how to allow interrupts in UniBasic programs.  I don't see any setting that would prevent this.I have tried changing the default Break Key (in Dynamic Connect) to another character.  I have tried compiling with -D.  I have tried another emulator.I have tied never making a mistake in a program so it doesn't get into an endless loop.  But that doesn't always happen.  Then I have to figure out which of my many terminal emulators with the same user and port status (DC doesn't help) I need to kill with a stopudt or

Hello,Oracle client version that is supported by UniData EDA is Oracle client version 11 (read it in UniData EDA doc for 7.x and 8.x).  OS: HP-UX Itanium 11.  Currently, we are using Oracle instant client 11.2 with UniData 7.3.   I was checking $UDTBIN/edasetup.sh script.  It seems like EDA uses following libraries/usr/lib/hpux64/libclntsh.so.11.1@ -> /usr/local/instantclient/libclntsh.so.11.1/usr/lib/hpux64/libnnz11.so@ -> /usr/local/instantclient/libnnz11.so/usr/lib/hpux64/libocci.so.11.1@ -> /usr/local/instantclient/libocci.so.11.1/usr/lib/hpux64/libociei.so@ -> /usr/local/instantclient/libociei.soWe need to upgrade Oracle client to be at least 12.2.  I am wondering if I can force EDA to use higher version of oracle client by changing the above symbolic links.  For example, I want to use 19c client.. maybe change sym link to be like below manually? /usr/lib/hpux64/libclntsh.so.11.1  ->  /blahblah/libclntsh.so.19.1/usr/lib/hpux64/libocci.so.11.1 -> /blahblah/libnnz1

I was an Info/Basic programmer with about ten years of experience working on a PRIME 9955 system.   When Prime went out of business the college I was working for switched to Oracle and I've been working with Oracle since 1996.  As I coast into retirement I'm interested in reviving the multi-value skills I once had.  I downloaded UNIVERSE and UNIDATA from Rockets website and started playing with it.   They seem very similar.For those of you that were once PR1ME Info/Basic, Inform, Primos developers, which environment would you suggest I focus on, UNIVERSE or UNIDATA?Also, is there a cheap way to get a Personal Edition (PE), single seat license?  I really don't want to develop and small or large scale systems.  I'm really interested in reviving the PICK skills I once had.I have a copy of INFO/PC that I installed on an old Windows 98 system I recently rebuilt to play games.  INFO/PC was a cool PE system.ThanksDan ------------------------------Daniel SimsonPresidentRocket Forum Shared

One thing I just tried and couldn't do...editing mv and smv lines with the EV (edit values) command.... can someone pop off the command to edit values in the line editor on Universe? for the I-Types, there is a command to run so a program can have access to the data as it's interpreted by the I-TYPE.  What I don't seem to be able to find is something that could do the same for the correlative field 8 in S-type dictionaries in particular for the A; notation for algebraic style.  we have lots of classic dictionaries and it would be helpful to be able to programmatically interpret.normal conversion, and Trans type correlatives OCONV just fine, but when its a referencing other dictionary items, doesn't seem to workAnyone tried this before?

Hi Guys,We have an application that has been working fine for over 20 years, it's running on Unidata 8.1.2 on Windows Server 2012 using SB+ and SBClient 5.5.4This session runs unattended 24/7 on the server console and basically... 1. scans the database for new transactions 2. packages them into files 3. transfers those files to a folder (to be picked up by an external FTP process) 4. sleeps for 15 minutes 5. return to step 1Late last year we suddenly started to get the below error pop-up, this error disconnects the session, if I reconnect the session it then runs OK for a while (perhaps a few days) but then this same thing happens again[Graphical user interface, text, application Description automatically generated]This customer has 5 servers running this same application and once this started to happen on one server it also started to happen on the other servers too.If the servers are rebooted the issue seems to go away for a while but then comes back.Occasionally users usi

When Unidata is licensed on HP-UX, is there any dependency on the IP address or system name, or could either be changed without impacting Unidata's license?

I received a ticket from a client asking why a phantom job keeps blowing up after an indeterminate amount of time.  The _PH_ logs shows this: In /usr/udthome/sys/CTLG/c/someProgram at line 493 Phantom run basic error, exit 3. Phantom run basic error, exit 3. Line 493 of someProgram is literally this:EXECUTE "a command"So it seems like whatever that command happens to be, the TCL level that is running with the EXECUTE is blowing up for some reason.  Running out of memory seems like a likely choice, but there may be other reasons as well, of course.  The question is, when there's an issue like this, is anything logged anywhere?
