INTRODUCTION I wanted to share some important insight on the recent UniData 8.2.1 release. They say a picture is worth a thousand words so let me start with these pictures and follow with more technical detail. As you can see, we focused a lot of effort on our ‘technical debt’ with the UniData 8.2.1 release, with about 85% of the resolved issues addressing bugs for over 200 of our UniData customers and with the included enhancements, the release satisfied the requests of 300+ UniData customers. On the enhancements side of the house, we focused our efforts on listening to what customers in the field requested through our Lab Services and Customer Experience teams, and brought over enhanced technology from our UniVerse platform to share with our UniData customers. UniData 8.2.1 offers brand new Audit Logging capabilities to support compliance requirements, enhancements to Replication to meet the continued High Availability and Disaster Recovery needs of our UniData customers and finally

Hi, Several years ago I was Project manager at a software house running Universe over AIX. I now have need to refresh my memory and so have downloaded the Personal Edition of Universe for Windows. As a non techie I’m struggling to set it up. Does anybody know of a YouTube video or crib-sheet that might help me with this Thank you in anticipation Steve

We are using Unitrends to backup Universe. We are not the largest Universe client, but we do have 200 users. I am not comfortable with Unitrends and feel we are unfortunately exposed. I am looking for suggestions or maybe even recommendations for a good consultant to work with to be sure our data is properly protected.

Greetings, I’m looking for a place to find info regarding Avante, which is built on SBclient / SB server (6.5.0), which in turn is built on something called Unidata 8.1 , which is running on a RHEL 7.6 VM that we just recently migrated from an HPUX machine… I really have no idea if this is the appropriate place to be asking questions about this… but I figured I’d throw it out here. We have a user base of ~250-300 simultaneous users daily. Since migrating the stack to the RHEL box, we have noticed that anywhere between 3 to 10 or so users are locked out of their Avanté sessions. They may or may not actively log out; doesn’t seem to be any pattern. We have to ps -el processes every morning, find the orphaned processes, and kill -9 them. They are all running the process called UDT. After that, they can connect in fine. Our troubleshooting efforts have us upgrading SBclient this weekend during maintenance; but we’re also looking into upgrading Unidata as well (one dot version up). While
