Hello, I need scrutinload for 9.1 and I have no access to prod-vert. I couldn't find it on confluence. I have an old version but would like to have the suitable one. Can anyone help? Thanks, Chaima

I have 3 virtual servers, and I have Vertico Up, when I run the command / opt / vertica / bin / vioperf my disk IO data is good, "counter value / core. But when climbing a cluster in Verticas, the IO disk loses more than 50% of performance. Can someone help me? Is there any configuration, so that it doesn't happen?

We have Vertica 9.x hosted on azure VM. Is there any process/ document to do point in time recovery ? Currently we have daily backup and can do recovery from one day old backup set. However if we have someone dropping table or deleting rows before the one day backup is done is there a way to recover ?

Hi folks, I have a 3-node vertica cluster with vertica native connection load-balancer set to "round-robin". This is version 8.0.1.x running on vmware esxi. Our application runs on a separate node on another vmware esxi. Our app needs to establish a bunch of connections (jdbc) during start-up and start-up is seen getting delayed. If the round-robin is disabled, this would instantly work. Are there any known issues around this ? Our app is deployed into wildfly (10.1) application server. Could this be because the load-balancer is doing re-directs which is somehow causing the new connections to be established with a delay (some kind of tcp state becoming stale ?)

Hello! I began to study vertiсa. I tryis created customer function but getting error. Help me pliase My code sql create or REPLACE FUNCTION itog_report_status.get_warn_lvl(day_count NUMERIC) returns varchar AS $function$ DECLARE res varchar ; BEGIN select status::varchar from itog_reports_status.status_warn_level where days = ( select MIN(days) from itog_reports_status.status_warn_level where day_count <= days); RETURN COALESCE(res, 'RED') END;

Within our application we use the addition of "ConnSettings=Set timezone to 'clientstimezone'" to change the time zone related to the data coming back but with the 9.3.0.0 it seems like it either doesn't recognize this within the connection URL or doesn't register some time zones. Has anyone seen this?

I have a query that is designed to give a due date ~3 business days after the order was received. I have 1 table that has the order information in it and another table that lists out all the days, the products, the place produced, and a flag to indicate if it is a business day for that combination. I have asked for help with this before and I was directed to using nth_value, however out of 34k lines for 1 days worth of data, it returns 7 lines where the due date is not null (and 3 of those lines have the incorrect value in them). I am not understanding what I have done wrong, so I am hoping that someone might be able to help me understand this function better or give me another idea of how to accurately give a due date that varies on a day, product, and place produced basis.

I have a lookup table called networkdays, here is a sample of the data: Date Vendor DayName DateFlag 2020-01-27 x Monday N 2020-01-28 x Tuesday Y 2020-01-29 x Wednesday Y 2020-01-30 x Thursday Y 2020-01-31 x Friday Y 2020-02-01 x Saturday N 2020-02-02 x Sunday N 2020-02-03 x Monday Y 2020-02-04 x Tuesday Y 2020-02-05 x Wednesday Y 2020-02-06 x Thursday Y 2020-02-07 x Friday Y 2020-02-08 x Saturday N 2020-02-09 x Sunday N 2020-02-10 x Monday Y 2020-02-11 x Tuesday Y 2020-02-12 x Wednesday Y 2020-02-13 x Thursday Y 2020-02-14 x Friday

I'm trying to define a Vertica-Kafka connector. I ran the first few commands successfully, but failed on the following command: /opt/vertica/packages/kafka/bin/vkconfig source --create --cluster kafka_nms_cluster --source test --partitions 1 --conf /home/vertica/vkconfig/vkconfig.conf The error I got Exception in thread "main" com.vertica.solutions.kafka.exception.ConfigurationException: ERROR: [[Vertica]VJDBC ERROR: Error calling processPartition() in User Function KafkaListTopics at [/data/qb_workspaces/jenkins2/ReleaseBuilds/Grader/REL-9_2_1-x_grader/build/udx/supported/kafka/KafkaUtil.cpp:163], error code: 0, message: Error getting metadata: [Local: Broker transport failure]] at com.vertica.solutions.kafka.model.StreamSource.validateConfiguration(StreamSource.java:248) at com.vertica.solutions.kafka.model.StreamSource.setFromMapAndValidate(StreamSource.java:194) at com.vertica.solutions.kafka.model.StreamModel.(StreamModel.java:93) at com.vertica.

One of our customers asked how to assign a specific resource pool to scrutinize. I thought we can use the -U option in scrutinize to specify a user name which its RP is already assigned , As shown here: https://www.vertica.com/docs/9.3.x/HTML/Content/Authoring/AdministratorsGuide/Diagnostics/ScrutinizeSecurity.htm However, scrutinize is unable to process the -U argument as shown below for Scrutinize Version 9.3.1-2: scrutinize ‑U scrutinuser -P 'scrutinpassword' --begin=5m --by-second -m CustomerName_Issue_ErrorMessage Error: Unable to process the following arguments Extra argument: ‑U Extra argument: scrutinuser Please fix the above errors and call scrutinize again

I have this error for no apparent reason [20032] [20032] Operation canceled. Certain select with a few joins is executed by SSIS via ADO NET driver to Vertica 1 node server. Result set up to 700000 rows was successfully retrieved dozens of times before that taking up to 90 seconds. The query was single query on the server at that time. Then suddenly I get " [20032] [20032] Operation canceled.". Running this query manully produces no problems -- first 200 rows gotten in 20 seconds. What might have happen? And where can I check for deeper error info? Maybe some timeout should be increased?

Can anyone provide me the connection string for vertica from SSRS, Like Servername =' XXX', Databasename='''';

I'm trying to setup the email gateway in MC and there are two fields for SMTP Username and Password. However, our SMTP relay server is not configured to require a username/password in order for an application to send email. I left the fields blank and saved. However, when I click the test button, the error says "Email configuration test failed. Exception reading response. please check mc log for details." The MC log shows:14 Feb 2020 15:18:46,304 [qtp386697093-110 - /webui/systemConfig/email/test?1581715272174] EmailServiceImp ERROR - Failed to Send Email to noreply@testemail.com, javax.mail.MessagingException, Exception reading response javax.mail.MessagingException: Exception reading response; nested exception is: javax.net.ssl.SSLException: Unrecognized SSL message, plaintext connection? at com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPTransport.readServerResponse(SMTPTransport.java:1611) at com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPTransport.openServer(SMTPTransport.java:1369) at com.sun.mai

Hi, We have a customer running our application on VMs. Vertica cluster is also running on VMWare. The customer has taken a snapshot of VM at some point and tried to restore it snapshot at a later point. Is it a correct expectation that the vertica node will recover ? Is this a recommended thing to do in VM environments?

'm getting this error while trying to run a copy table command to load a JSON. Hi, I have user SQL that rather stubbornly stick to same execution plan, despite my attempts to change it (using only documented hints). It is effectively select XXXXXX from A join B join C XXXXX; First, A and B resegmented and joined. It is possible to change what will be inner and outer source in hash join for this stage, using hint. Then, output of A and B join resegmented with C, and joined. C is inner source, A and B is outer. And, it is not possible to change what would be inner and what would be outer source (despite frantic hints manipulations). A is rather small, B and C are huge. Result of join A and B is small. That is very poor execution plan, optimizer is not smart enough (Vertica optimizer developers are smart but way too few of them). What I want: 1) Broadcast A 2) Join with B locally, and broadcasted A should be inner source in hash join 3) Broadcast result to join 4) Use broadcasted join result as inner source in hash join with C. Prime point, should be no resegmentati

I took a look on using MultiPhase Transform UDx. I am not sure why anybody would want to use them. They restrict functionality comparing to use of stacked several regular TransformUDx. Here is what I found: Idea behind MultiPhase is to provide canned functionality, same as you have when calling stacked Transforms: select transform1(v1.) over() from ( select transform2(v2.) over() from ( .... ) v2 ) v1 Output from transform 2 goes to input of transform 1, creating stacked Transforms Same call to MultiPhase transform would be select MPtransform(*) over() from (xxxx); For regular transform in stacked calls, I can control where each stage is being executed. I can use over() - single instance of transform executed on init node, over(partition nodes) - single instance of transform per each node, over(partition best) - several instances of transfomr per node. More important, I can specify where I want each transform to be executed individually. For example, I can request that each transfo

I recently installed vertica drivers for Visual Studio 2017 But I am not able to see Visual Studio plug in installed on it, I tried to remodify the installation couple of items and try to add the Visual studio component but it is not working, Is it because I am using Visual Studio 2017, is the Visual Studio plug in does not work with Visual studio 2017.

We need to migrate data from one database (Oracle) to Vertica. Data size approx 5TB and it also has stored procedures. Do we have any step wise step activity? I did earlier but need to know is there any suggestions?

How are customers doing this? Customer is contemplating exporting hundreds of tables to CSV and re-importing as flex tables then materializing, but is concerned over issues with type handling and encoding in a bulk process. How are others doing this? SSIS and ODB come to mind as options for data transfer. How are DDL translations handled, or can SSIS or ODB also create the schemas and tables in Vertica?

A prospect is requesting to read data from Outlook to Vertica. Do we have a way to export emails from Outlook to Vertica? There are external tools to export things to CSV but the request is for an automated process. 1. Can we get such connector from IDOL? 2. What do you think about the following?https://www.workato.com/integrations/outlook+vertica 3. Any other idea?

Hello I have one process that runs every minute and does COPY into a staging table of data from files. I have a second process that runs once an hour that does the following: SET SESSION AUTOCOMMIT TO OFF; LOCK TABLE my_staging_table; MERGE into full_table USING my_staging_table TRUNCATE my_staging_table; I dont have a way to synchronize these 2 processes. I see that some records are being lost. From the timestamps and analysis it looks like the COPY insert some data into the staging table at the same time as the TRUNCATE and the TRUNCATE happens AFTER the COPY. I tried adding a LOCK TABLE my_staging_table before the COPY but it did not help. How can I rewrite this so that I dont loose data? Maybe with table renaming? Thanks,

Hi, Customer has migrated form SQL Server to Vertica. The functionality he is missing a lot is a "Stored Procedures" , allowing end users (non-admin) to execute parametrized SQL query template (that must be managed centraly) and be able to get the result set (i.e. for reporting).... Customer wants to have this functionality, as query might be very complex , and such queries are too difficult for business users to edit or play with. Also quite often such queries are used by some reports (Qlik), so changing everywhere and keep the proper and same version is difficult. My idea was to: 1. Create function that accepts desired parameters values (passed as function arguments) , and returns a string being query to be executed (with proper value substitution in predicate section). 2. Grab that string and run as an VERTICA external procedure, that could store returned dataset as temporary table. Temporary table name, that must be unique.... (many users can run the same flow in parallel) Th
