dll call in uniface 9Author: dylan.huart@gmail.com (Dylan) Hello everyone, I'm trying to familiarize myself with the IDE UNIFACE 9 and its programming language, to make changes to an application. I developed a DLL in C it can return a path, so a char *, the called function takes no argument, I wanted to call this function from UNIFACE. I could see that we could use it to Activate call: Activate "NameOfDLL". NameOfFonction ($$ variable) I told my dll in signatures, but I is not nothing in return. my question is: What is $$variable returns the return of my function?   Thanks !

$labelpropertiesAuthor: i.sharp@pcisystems.co.uk (Iain Sharp) I have recently been able to go back to a prototype which I had just about working under version 9.4, in 9.5 however, the $labelproperties function appears to behave differently., I have a repeating entity painted with a single button (non-database) with attached label (so the label is rendered 3d like the button). This allows for the display of as many buttons as I need. There is then a routine to populate these, which changes the glyph and label based on the action associated with this occurrence. In 9.4, using $labelproperties on a non-database button painted in repeating occurrences, allowed for different labels for each occurrence, in 9.5 it appears that it sets the label for all occurrences. Which is the correct behaviour? Should I be looking for a different way to do this, or for a fix to this introduced behaviour? Iain

Uniface Tree ExampleAuthor: kathy.seeman@noris.org (kathseem) Does anyone have a sample Uniface program/form which populates a tree widget from a database table? The form I need to write will show notes made by users---date of entry, user who made entry and notes. The form will also be able to add new entriies to the database, which after stored should show in the tree. I know I need to make a tree widget and populate it in the triggers, but it's kind of confusing to read through the help and put it all together in the correct places. We run Uniface version 9.3.02. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Compilation of several components at onceAuthor: zdenek.socha@fullsys.cz (sochaz) Hello, is there a way to compile more components at once using a command line interface of idf.exe? Currently I use something like this: C:xxxU96Xcommonbinidf.exe /adm=C:xxxU96Xunifaceadm /asn=myasn.asn /lis /inf mycomp I figured out, there's no need to specify "/frm", "/svc" or "/rpt" switch. For the only one component, it works fine. But to speed things up I put up to 10 components at once - as semicolon separated list. So, the command line looks like this: C:xxxU96Xcommonbinidf.exe /adm=C:xxxU96Xunifaceadm /asn=myasn.asn /lis /inf mycomp1;mycomp2;mycomp3 It works fine as long as all components are of the same type, that is forms, services or reports. But if it is form1;service1;form2 .. then only form1 and form2 are compiled and idf skips the service1. Is there any way to compile any kind of components? Kind regards, Zdeněk

ASCII to CHARAuthor: dennis.vorst@uniface.com (Dennis Vorst) Hi Is there a way in Uniface to convert a number to its ASCII equivalent? For instance 65 into the capital A. And vice versa.

Need Help with DBMS configurationAuthor: syeed4@gmail.com (Syed) Hi Guys, Im new to Uniface and come from a JAVA background. I have a trial version of Uniface 9.5 I have downloaded and installed the APS. I installed the Solid DB that came with Uniface. My aim is to understand how to connect a MySQL db and create a testing application to see how the components fit together and access data from DB. I'm getting very frustrated with the lack of detailed information in the documentation. Don't get me wrong there is lots and lots and lots and lots of docs, all documentation presumes you already have a good understanding of Uniface and does not give a beginners overview. So I have read the Library, I have read forums, I have gone through the Uniface University, I have watched numerous videos and I still can't find a example of connecting to a MySQL DB. I would really like to know where some decent blogs are so I can start decveloping with the helkp of the Uniface community. I hope someone c

Printing of a document with PDF417 font via Web AppAuthor: knut.dybendahl@gmail.com (Knut) All, I've got a current system where a pdf file is produced - containing an OCX which produces the PDF417 embedded font.... Of course, the OCX needs a 'show' or 'edit' to work - and that doesn't quite work for WAS.... So, does anyone have any ideas (I am looking at some 3gl solutions but was hoping there might be a better way)? Cheers, Knut

How to avoid updates the id’s for signature and implementations when compiling all forms/services?Author: jens.fyhn@cgi.com (jfyhn) Then using compile/all I get new Id’s for signature and implementations (fields uspecid uimplid) for some of my services. Only some interface services get this feature and our hundreds of other services leaves these fields unchanged when compiling. When these fields change so much, our version control system have some problem termermining changes, so they always comes up for manual merging when using the version control update. Does anybody have any ideas of some setting in the services or other approaches I can try to have the id’s not changing when there is not done any changing of code?

$ude("Compile"): using compile sub switchesAuthor: daniel.iseli@uniface.com (diseli) Dear Uniface Community, In Uniface version 9 it is possible (as you all hopefully know) to compile components from Proc using the (new) function $ude("compile"). But unfortunately it is (currently) not possible to specify some of the compiler command line sub switches (like for example /nodebug). There is however a way to invoke the different compiler command line sub switches using the undocumented (and currently unsupported) function $ude("List2Object", "Settings"), which is executed before $ude("compile"). For example: ; Compile all components with /nodebug $1 = $ude("List2Object", "Settings", "ExecuteOnly=1") $1 = $ude("Compile", "Component", "") It is also possible to specify multiple sub switches by passing the settings in a Uniface associative list. For exampl

Undocumented function $functionAuthor: zdenek.socha@fullsys.cz (sochaz) Hello, I have just discovered undocumented and well hidden function... $function. Does any one know something about it? I known, that it is undocumented, proc code editor (in IDF) does not highlight it, it accepts up to 5 parameters. The first parameter is a topic, the second one is data... others are unknown. The only working topic I know is "undogold", which replaces the gold characters by the ordinary one (that is gold; is replaced by ;). This seems to be quite useful (hidden) feature... I wonder, if anyone could provide another working topics for this function...? Neither "gold" nor "dogold" works. Tested in Uniface 9.6.04.02 (X401C 0305_1) W71. Zdeněk

Handling HTTP Error Messages while using AJAXAuthor: hansen@ahp-gmbh.de (-GHAN-) The situation: An ajax-request is made and runs into trouble. URouter returns a yellow page with an error code. The problem: How can I detect, that something wen't wrong in my script?! I could evaulate the http status but this will ALLWAYS be 200! (which says "ok, done!"). I would suggest it to get somewhat like 5xx (Internal Server Error). Thats a true dilemma- of course the urouter reacts correct- but the request failed. Is it possible to set a more fitting status as a returncode in order to react properly on such situations?! How does the LAB handle this!? -GHAN- ps: parsing the ajax responseText is NOT an option :)

$windowproperties Backcolor Author: lammersma@hotmail.com (lammersma) Hi, I have a couple of questions about the backcolor property of $windowproperties. When I try the example from the documentation:$windowproperties ("MYFORM", "BACKCOLOR=lightblue"), I get a syntax error. When I try $windowproperties ("MYFORM") = ("BACKCOLOR=lightblue") I get no error. In a test component in IDF $windowproperties ("MYFORM") = ("BACKCOLOR=lightblue")  works fine. When I try the same code in a form in my application I get an procerror -1132. What can be the problem here? IDF and Uniface use different ini's. kind regards, Peter

Changing ude title bar in uniface 9Author: a.widdowson@midlandhr.co.uk (awiddowson) Is there any way to change the title bar of the ude in uniface 9 to something other than uniface 9. We have many development environments and it would be useful to be able to change it to distinguish them, In 8, we could 'hack' idf.aps to do this. Thanks, Anthony

Uniface.exe like a service on WindowsAuthor: antoine.picaud@free.fr (apicaud) Hi all, I have an application who work currently like a "windows service" with srvany.exe. It works correctly with start/stop service from wondows services. The command line launch directly uniface.exe with some parameters. Now, I need another uniface.exe but the context is different. I need new Oracle home. To do that, I've create a batch file where I specify some environment variables and I launch Uniface.exe The start service is OK. The stop service is KO because, Uniface.exe keep on my computer. Have you a solution to do that without urouter module ? Regards, Antoine

Pagination "Problem" solved by proper Data PreparationAuthor: ulrichmerkel@web.de (ulrich-merkel) Pagination does not demand changes in the database drivers, but changes in the way we implement these tasks.   As in the very old days of computing (1980's), THINK FIRST is the key to success and performance.   All you need is an educated insight in DATA processing and a proper "data preparation" plan.   It is much more efficient if it takes - 1 time - - get (internally) data from 3000 records, - - sort them and - - build a TAT(temp access table) with UUID, SEQNO,PKs only. - 30 times - - return access-data for "the next" 100 records.using UUID,SEQNOFROM,SEQNOTO fron TAT   rather than forcing the database   - 30 times - - get (internally) data from 3000 records, - - sort them and - - return access-data for "the next" 100 records. &nb

Prompt empty listbox in Uniface 9, new behaviour?Author: sven.hedqvist@gmail.com (Sven_Hedqvist) In Uniface 8 if you prompt an empty listbox (i.e. no valrep) you get dotted lines around the first occurence of the listbox. Check picture below. http://img718.imageshack.us/img718/9364/emptylistboxuniface8.png When we run the same form with the same listbox in Uniface 9 there is no prompting at all if the listbox is empty. A mark of the chosen occurence is only provided if the listbox has a valrep value(s). Se picture below. http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/3401/emptylistboxuniface9.png The form is the same. The settings are the same for the listboxes as far as I can tell. Somehow though the behaviour is different. You can also see that the Uniface8-version of the listbox is a little more 3D than the Uniface9-version. Is there any remedy for this problem? Our customers are used to using the tab key to move the prompt around in forms, and when you prompt an empty li

Move from 8.2.03 to 9.4Author: rmeaille@medinfo.fr (foster06) Hi all, I need to move my application from Uniface 8.2.03 to 9.4 because I need to use unicode. I moved first from 8.2.03 to 8.4.06. I made the necessary modifications. Then I moved from 8.4.06 to 9.4.c1. Now I need to continue using DOL and URR file. After /all to compile all objects, and /urr and /dol, the files are created but in udesc.urr I haven't any signatures, and in usys.dol, I just have the uniface messages. I don't understand what I need to do to have good URR and DOL files, like in uniface 8. Thanks for your help. Robert

Interaction between U8 and U9 urouterAuthor: lammersma@hotmail.com (lammersma) Hi there, THis might seem a strange question, but is it possible for Uniface 8 to communicatie with a URouter of U9? And from Uniface 9 to URouter 8? Before I try it myself, I was wondering if anyone tried it already. Why we want this? We want to migrate a part of our applications to Uniface 9. We are not looking forward to double mantainance on global component. If it was only possible to activate these on a URouter  version 8, this might help us a lot. Kind regards, Peter
