Rocket® ACUCOBOL®

Hi allIs it possible to save a file (fx .pdf, .docx) in a vision file?Currently I copy the file to the server and creates a record in a vision file with the original file name and server file name. So, when the user need the file, I can copy the server file to the client PC.It would be easier to maintain, if I can save the file in the vision file and extract it when the user needs it,Regards Kim

We would like to open a PDF file in the program and extract an attachment (in this case, an XML file) from this PDF file.Is there a way to do this?

I was curious if others are running into printing problems with recent Windows 11 updates (at least I suspect that is the cause).  We have had about 5-6 customers report this problem starting 6 weeks ago. When they print from our software running AcuCobol-GT Windows Runtime, they get a pop-up box from saying "please wait for printer connection or cancel connection". Some are reporting it eventually after waiting will move on and print. Others have said they have to click Cancel once or twice to get it to move on. Yesterday, we had one that says sometimes it will not print at all. We are wondering if it has something to do with this new "Windows Protected Print Mode" that is showing up when you look at printers under Windows Settings as this seems to be something new Microsoft is doing. Our main problem with these clients is that all of they claim that it ONLY does this in our software running AcuCobol-GT, and that they can print other things such as emails, websites, out of Office, etc

Hi Everyone,I’m on AcuCOBOL 10.4.1 and I’m trying to use JSON PARSE.  I’m getting an error and while I can get the error code (JSON-CODE) I can’t figure out how to get the additional information in the description that I see in the manual.  For instance, if I get code 100, I’m looking for the full message “JSON PARSE on line <line-num>, JSON text invalid at offset <offset>.” with <line-num> and <offset> filled in so I can actually find the offending part of my input.I couldn't find anything in the documentation or examples that did anything except display JSON-CODE.

Hi everyone! With the release of Rocket ACUCOBOL extend 11, you got the support for the most popular dev tool out here, Visual Studio Code.  Now you can equip your teams to develop ACUCOBOL applications in VS Code, simplifying hiring / onboarding and speeding up development.See the extension in action in the short demo:Let us know what Rocket ACUCOBOL demos you’d like to see in the future in the comments.

We have a user that is on a Dell Laptop and two different times they have ran the Dell System Update process and Bench (ver 9.2) has started locking up on projects.  When this happens they get a “NOT RESPONDING” error from Windows and have to shut it down bench with task manager.  At times they can reboot the machine and it will work for a bit then start locking up again.  We have reinstalled bench on the machine but that did not fix the issue.  The only solution that worked was getting a new machine for that user but we don't want to do that again since this issue has now appeared on the new laptop also.Has anyone seen this happen after a system updates and if so how did you solve this issue?

Good afternoon, is there a way to make acu-gt print using the same font as acutoweb? It seems that the font and size settings in the configuration file are ignored by acu-gt.

To show records of a vision file we use paged-grids and the majority of our users are fine with that. There is one customer (and unfortunately our most important one) who wants a “standard scrollbar”.The answer that this is only doable when we know how many records are 100% does not convince him and he does not let it go.So we thought of a lazy-loading scenario. We load and show the first 100 records and when he drags the grid thumb all the way down to the end of the grid we try to load more records. The problem is that the grid does not give an event when reaching the last record.Does anyone have an idea how to solve this ?Or do you have a totally different approach ?

Our company is a very heavy user of AcuBench with thousands of projects. We also use VS Code for really test only code that still is in use in our system.  We are upgrading to Acu11 soon so I want to start playing with VS plug-in.  Is it as simple as just adding the plug-in to VS Code and opening a .pjt for a project?  Are there any required things to be installed on the machines that will be using it...for example does AcuBench have to be there or AcuGT? Thanks for any help as I get started on this journey to move from AcuBench to VS Code plug-in.

Currently our ACUCOBOL (compiler v.10.3.1) print modules use WIN$PRINT to create PDF files using locally installed PDFCreator (on the user’s Windows machine) and -P SPOOLER.  We are looking for an alternate solution which will enable us to use a PDF printer installed on the Linux server instead.  All the options we’ve explored so far, incl. cupspdf; C$PDF and -P PDF involve extensive code changes or loss of predefined formatting.  Is there a solution available which will allow us to do the conversion with minimal code impact?

I am attempting to pass binary data from AcuCOBOL to a .NET method using a COMSAFEARRAY.  For example, the buffer parameter in the below .NET method:public int addRow(byte[] buffer);I am receiving a COM error when I call this method passing the COMSAFEARRAY.   If I use other data types like “string”, I do not have the error. Does anyone have any suggestions of how to pass data from acuCOBOL as a .NET byte array?

I got a new Windows 11 workstation, and moved my AcuCobol software over and reinstalled it.   It’s been running fine for the past 3 weeks.  But now when I try to compile with ccbl32.exe, I get an error:“D:\Program Files (x86)\Micro Focus\extend 10.4.1\AcuGT\bin\zlib.dll is not designed to run on Windows ….”With the help of Windows COPilot, I tried all sorts of test and security changes, but it still does not work.  Apparently  zlib.dll is on the list of DLLs with known vulnerabilities. Is there updated 10.4.1 that have been properly signed, or do I have to go to Extend 10.5 ?

Recently went to Window 11 64-bit system on a new computer.I have a program that writes and read Outlook emails, which began giving me errors.I used to executed "C:\Program Files (x86)\Micro Focus\extend 10.4.1\AcuGT\bin\wrun32.exe” which was the 32-bit version.   So i switched to  "C:\Program Files\Micro Focus\extend 10.4.1\AcuGT\bin\wrun32.exe” and the problem went away.   YAAAA.So my software uses the old MSCAL.OCX Calendar control.  Well it turns out it’s a 32-bit program, and WILL NOT EXECUTE using the 64-Bit version.    Anyway interesting to note the both in "C:\Program Files\Micro Focus\...” and C:\Program Files (x86)\Micro Focus\….” the runtimes are named WRUN32.    Shouldn’t the one of them be named WRUN64  ?Any thoughts ??

Good morning, are there any manuals for Acucobol in Italian? Or is there an Italian company I can ask for documentation from?

If so, is there an option to open a copybook? I can not find this essential functionality….

Does anyone know if there is documentation on the “*** System error value = # *** errors? I see them pop up in my logs from time to time, but I’m not able to find what they mean in the AcuCOBOL documentation. I’m using 10.5.1 on RHEL if that matters. Thanks for your help!

We love that you can use OCCURS in the screen section and we use it quite frequently.Now - for the first time - we need a radio-button that gets its options from a table and we don’t know how to get the value.This is what we would like to use:78 T01-MAX VALUE 10.78 T01-GROUP VALUE 03.01 T01-RESULT PIC 9(02).01 T01-TABLE. 02 T01-RECORD OCCURS T01-MAX INDEXED BY T01. 03 T01-VI PIC 9(01). 03 T01-ID PIC 9(05). 03 T01-TITLE PIC X(40). 03 T01-VALUE PIC 9(02).01 SCRPP10-BILD. 02 LABEL LINE 10 VISIBLE 0. 02 OCCURS T01-MAX. 03 RADIO-BUTTON LINE + 1 COL 50 VISIBLE T01-VI ID T01-ID TITLE T01-TITLE GROUP T01-GROUP GROUP-VALUE
