Monday marks the pick Julien calendar roll from the 10 to 20 thousands. I'm sure most of you remember when we PICK folk went from four digits in our internal dates to five, back in 1995.Since then I've managed to create an entire additional adult human, as well as create umpteen lines of code.I felt the occasion was worth notice. Anyone have any anecdotal stories of that eventful day? Kathleen------------------------------Kathleen HambrickProgrammer at Colwell------------------------------
We have dozens of SOAP web services in production that were built using Web Services Developer Tool v4.23.0 (2017). We now need to build RESTful web services and find the equivalent tool is RESTful Web Services Developer v4.63.0 (2017).These both seem to have been abandoned by Rocket in favor of MVIS. The MVIS data sheet says it requires UV 11.3.3 and we are currently running UV 11.3.1. As we are going into a busy time of year, we cannot consider a UV upgrade until early 2023 at best. However, we need to create. test and publish REST services in the next few months. Does anyone have any advice?
hello One behavior of UV / Windows Port.Status that I have never resolved is the presence of Unavailable as the last process command. Which greatly slows down the output of port.status. Have you ever experienced such a situation? sample There are currently 48 uniVerse sessions; 19 interactive, 29 phantom Pid.... User name. Who. Port name..... Years ago, in a different forum, someone posted a proc/paragraph they called LSELECT that, as I recall, allowed you to take a select list of values for a specific attribute in a file and select all the records in that file that contained any of the values in the select list. It was very clever. The machine I installed it on is long since off-line. If anyone else has it, I would love to recreate it on the machine I am on now.BTW, i am using Unidata 8.1
Hi allI've been doing some experiments accessing UniVerse data via Python for some time and I had my own library before the official Rocket uopy utilities were available to me.One thing I implemented is my own custom representation of a UniVerse record as a Python dictionary and I was wondering if it would be useful to anyone. Maybe I can add it to the Python github.Anyway, I'll explain the logic in my implementation and why I still use it in some places instead of the "natural" DynArrays. My implementation stems from the structure of a lot of the data we use here, as a lot of records are sparsely populated (I use to call my own records "sparse records" to differentiate them from the DynArray)Example: A register with 90 values, which only 4 contain real data. One of them is a multivalue that also contains several "empty" fields.1. "Value1"2. "Value2"3. ""4. ""...60. "a|b|c|d||||||||m|n"...90. "Value90"Using a DynArray results in a mostly empty list, with the footprint that this involves
Does a command exist for UniData that will list all the data files with triggers in a data account?I could write a routine to do it, but I'd rather not reinvent a wheel that exists.Thank you

We're ready for the next round of testing of D3 Linux v10.4 Port!! Since the last round of testing, we have been working hard to make a more complete product. We have addressed a number of bugs, but more exciting than that is that we have added the FSI to our UNIX implementations. This allows us to offer the most highly horizontally scalable multi-value solution on the Unix platforms as we have previously offered on Windows. By decoupling the FSI and VME environments, you can achieve a more seamless cloud experience. Creating a docker instance of your application server (VME) while still utilizing a singular shared Database (FSI) can give you easily deployable instances of your application. If you are interested in assisting us with this exciting newly-architected product, please reply to this post, or email trude@rocketsoftware.com. We are looking forward to working with you again.------------------------------Brian S. CramPrincipal Technical Support EngineerRocket Software-----------
Greetings! We use the replication monitoring phantoms - MONITOR.REPLOG and MONITOR.REPSTATUS. While we can start/stop/update them manually, we used to have a VB-based application to do so - provided to us by Rocket. Unfortunately, we've lost that software. If it's readily available for download on the Rocket site, we have not been able to find it there.Where can I find the VB software for controlling the replication monitoring phantoms? Thanks in advance!Brian Paige
hi folks,I have the session 99 into a READU statement and lock is owned by port 10 ... then 99 appears into Active waiters as a Waiter and Owner is 10. Hi allJust your thoughts on how much memory should be allocated to a system with < 20 users? (NO Flash basic - Linux D3 (Ver 7.4))The users are complaining that the system is "slow" with 2.62144 TB. (yes you read correctly 2.62144 Terra Bytes) !In my opinion, this is FAR TOO much - and should be reduced to say 16 GB otherwise there is the chance of (per manual) "High values can result in poor performance of other UNIX processes due to inadequate remaining memory."What say you?------------------------------Stefano GallottaManaging MemberSimply Red Open SystemsMilnerton ZA------------------------------
Greetings! Has a newer version of the Extensible Admin Tool been released? I just requested the 'trial download' from the Rocket site. It sent me a download link, but the software it downloaded is the same version I already had - version 4.14.0, Build id: 20181218_2890, as part of DBTools version 4.4.0, from 2018.Is there a newer version - and if so, is there a way to get to it without going through the "sign up for a trial download" process?Brian Paige------------------------------Brian PaigeEnterprise Systems ManagerSerta /Simmons Bedding LLCDoraville GA US------------------------------
I have seen a bunch of changes through the years on additional functionality on this tool. Is there a comprehensive list of what this tool currently can do? I am a VAR and one of my clients expressed interest in it and I cannot find anything on the website.Below are a bunch of questions about the functionality this product has: How does it keep the connection alive if I am in a zoom meeting for 4 hours? Does it allow record locking on the server while I am editing it? Is there a before Read Call? Is there an after Write Call? Is there an after Delete Call? Is there an automatic save after so many minutes? Is there an option if not locked it can tell me the original has been updated? Is there an option when I compile in Unidata I can request the BASICTYPE? Is there a way I can put bookmarks, tasks, or information locally and not in the code? Is there a key sequence I can get where I can get syntax help for commands such as CASE, READNEXT, etc? Is there a way I can get actual errors as
I have a customer using Accuterm 8 who are going to replace 3 of their workstations. Has anyone done this? I'm wondering about the license validation.Dale
Hi,I've installed Universe for Windows community edition. I want to do a couple of things - install the Developer tools IDE and/or VS Code to edit BASIC programs, and, also test python code executing in Universe to utilise external python modules and libraries.I can get to the XDEMO account at the BASIC MV shell, and LIST PRODUCTS data.I have tried and failed to connect the Basic Developer Toolkit. I cannot find what username/password to use. When connecting to my instance, what is the default username/password combination or should I set an account up and if so how ? I think this will also help me connect up VSCode. As a follow up question, I have python module which I want to include in a python program which I execute in Universe. Is there specific process I need to run in order to include this module for use ? I tried to run pip install <my module.whl> but this did not seem t import my module. Thanks - Steve------------------------------Stephen PisaniRocket Forum Shared
Looking to see if anyone has successfully integrated D3 with UPS WorldShip using ODBC -When voiding a shipment/package in WorldShip, I receive a duplicate key error because it appears that it's trying to perform an insert instead of an update statement. On void in WorldShip:Execute 0F99B418( INSERT INTO ups_packages ( ...., voided, id, shipment_id ) VALUES ( ..., 'Y', 'PACKAGE ID', 'UPS SHIPMENT ID' ) )Execute 0F99B418( INSERT INTO ups_shipments ( ...., voided, id ) VALUES ( ..., 'Y', 'UPS SHIPMENT ID' ) )Given that these records already exist, and we're just trying to set the voided flag, it should be an update statement:update ups_packages set voided = 'Y' where shipment_id = 'UPS SHIPMENT ID'update ups_shipments set voided = 'Y' where id = 'UPS SHIPMENT ID'Everything else seems to work.Did I miss mapping something in WorldShip? Is this a known issue? Any ideas on how to work around this?Appreciate any help!------------------------------Jeremy LockwoodAwesomeASE Supply IncPortland

The MVS Toolkit is our REST services tool for D3 and mvBase. MVSP is the MultiValue Server Protocol that the Toolkit uses to connect to D3 and mvBase. Want to learn more? In just under 90 minutes you can learn all about installation, configuration, and debugging of MVSP and the MVS Toolkit. Even better – you can spend only a few minutes a day. I just made over a dozen short, easy to consume videos. So, you can watch one when you have only a few minutes. Before you know it, you'll have learned a lot.I've tried ot summarize my years of Toolkit experience into this series of videos, sharing best practices and other knowledge I have on the subject. I put them in order to make the series easier to follow and easier to skip subjects you may already have mastered. Ready to watch the first one? If so, click here to get to the playlist on the Rocket Software YouTube channel and make sure you have approximately 3 minutes!Hopefully this video series will help you understand the tools better and h
Morning,I have never used callx and think I have found a need. From my understanding a callx will trigger a program on a item change. Not sure if it can be triggered from a attribute change but a item change would be ok.Question is, How do you go about setting it up and making it work? The 11.3 user reference keyword section shows LPTR [n]. Most occurrences of appropriate command section instances only show the keyword LPTR. I guess you need to find the keyword section to know there is an optional printer channel number. Recently updated commands like LIST.INDEX, however, show the optional printer number. Does this mean that the documentation is going to evolve for all commands that allow LPTR will also show the optional printer channel? As an experiment, get into UniVerse, and immediately issue the command LIST VOC LPTR 3. It sends the output to the spooler. My recollection is that the command would complain about channel 3 not set up. Of course that recollection goes back over 30 years. Is the behavior to use print channel 0 if the requested one is not set up?Speaking of LIST.INDEX, "-INFORMME"? A curious choice for a command line option beyond -INFORM. Is the hyphen a signal that the INFORMME will not be found as a keyword in the VOC file? Unless this is a new addi
I was talking to a would-be large client about MVIS tools but I had no idea if it could scale. They will be doing about 250K to 1000K transactions daily. I am not sure how MVIS can do this.Is there anyone out in this universe, pun intended, that can say they have done this, and how?Posted 08-27-2022 11:46------------------------------Doug AverchOwnerU2Logic------------------------------
