Hi all,I'm posting the answers to the UniData and UniVerse sections of the quiz here. Note that SurveyMonkey doesn't make it easy to share this so you have to scroll through many pages of information just to see the right answers. A lot of the stats are just plain wrong, so focus in on the table at the bottom of each page/question. The green check mark shows the right answer while the table and chart above show the distribution of responses. Thanks again to all who played, and let me know how we can make your future experiences as a forum member even better, whether it be more events like this, specific 'how-to' content, people you want to hear from, etc.Dave ------------------------------Dave AndrewsHead of Customer EngagementRocket Software------------------------------
Hi. Brian Cram here on behalf of @Tim Rude and myself. On March 30th and 31st Tim and I are going to be taking you on a complete tutorial on Hot Backup and Safe Snapshotting for D3/Unix. This will include five videos: 1) Safe Snapshotting of D3/Unix, 2) Doing a Small Save/Restore, 3) Hot Backup Configuration, 4) Hot Backup Monitoring and Debugging, and 5) Resynchronizing Hot Backup."Small Save/Restore? What is that?" you may ask. It's a simple technique that streamlines the save and restore process. Curious? Cool! Here's a sneak peak at the Small Save/Restore process: See you on the 30th or 31st. Hi,Thanks for advising that this is now available. I followed the instructions up to the point of activating & adding the new association, however, when I enter Edit Configuration of Rocket MV BASIC, I get the following error message - "an error (Running the contributed command: 'vscode-rocket.mv.basic.command.editconfig' failed.)" Also, on the Configuration page, it mentions that "For Windows platforms, you can find configuration files in "C:Usersyourusername.rmvconfig""., however, I don't seem to have that file anywhere on my PC ? Any suggestions on how to resolve these issues welcome. Thanks,MARY

I'm attempting to setup EDA on a UV 10.2 system. I have setup an ODBC data source that is able to connect to SQL Server without any difficulty. So now I'm in the EDA Schema Manager and attempting to setup the EDA Data Source with the same credentials that worked in the ODBC connection manager. And I'm getting this error when clicking on the "Test" button:No clue what this means. The DSN has the ODBC data source name, and that data source does pass the connection tests successfully. What am I missing?
We all know that when we're going to apply Monitor, SQL or Flash patches to D3 that we need to shut down D3 first. But I'll bet very few of us know that we need to shut down the ODBC server as well if it's running. The reason is that patches are usually linked to the ODBC server as well. So if you leave the ODBC server running, shut down D3, apply a Monitor patch, then start D3, you'll have D3 running one version and the ODBC server running another. This can wreak havoc on your system. As of D3/Unix 10.3, the plot thickens because of added features. Not only to we have the ODBC server, we also have the new mvWorkstation listener. This needs to be stopped as well. And when 10.3.3 is released, three more players: the d3net service and the d3api server and slave. Here's a list of the actual binaries:/usr/bin/d3/usr/bin/odbcsrv/usr/bin/d3WSListener/usr/bin/d3netsvc/usr/bin/d3api_server/usr/bin/d3api_slave------------------------------Brian CramSenior Technical Support EngineerRocket Software

My name is Cheng Jiang, and I am a Rocket Software Engineer III in the Dalian office. In this series, we'll take a close look at Automatic Data Encryption (ADE), a free feature you can enable today in the UniVerse and UniData products to help secure your data at rest. It's important to understand the risks of not securing your data, as 90% of companies that experience data loss go out of business within 2 years, according to Gartner. Hi allI built a Python wrapper for the Intercall library to access an Universe database. Now I'm porting my utilities so they can use the native uopy module. The work is pretty straightforward but I don't find the equivalent call to ic_fileinfo ic_fileinfo (key, file_id, data, buffer, buffer_size, code) Is there a way to do this using pure uopy calls or do I have to build a custom UniRPCPacket to simulate the Intercall function?
Is posible setting up a com port to baud rate bigger than 19200?I saw Basic TTYSET and TTYGET but i don't find an explanation of EXTA or EXTB.Someone have any clue?Thanks.------------------------------Sergio PerinEngineerBaseware Systems------------------------------
