Rocket® D3® and jBASE®

I am looking for a way to differentiate a record create (or insert if you will) from a record update within a trigger.  I am not seeing anything that would allow me to do this easily.   My use case is to send out an event on a record create and a different event on a record update.  I want this to happen only after a successful write.I can see on a pre-write how I could see if the record exists already or not, but then if the write should fail, I would have sent an event for the create or the update that is out of sync with the state of my database.  I would like to avoid having 2 events sent on a create (one pre-write detecting a create and one post-write for an update).It would seem to be an important piece of metadata that should be available to the trigger as to whether or not this record had to (or will) be created by the write.Has anyone else already come up with an elegant solution or can point out the obvious thing I am missing?

Due to some security issues, the D3 installers' ability to automatically download dependency packages is no longer available. This makes it necessary to load dependencies manually before running D3_setup. We have been trying to standardise our jbase environment across accounts.  But we are experiencing a problem with loosing the C:\jbase\6.2.1.1\bin assignment and therefore can not use the base jbase programs like LIST.THIS IS QUITE A PROBLEM !WE have placed the statement in the OBJECTLIST in the system environment variables for the administrator and the account login.We have placed in into the OBJECTLIST in every remote.cmd we can find.when we restart the services we then log in on the server as administrator or as the account and start a jshell.Things look good and the OBJECTLIST is as we expect when we use jdiag - all great BUT as soon as we login to a real jbase Account we loose the OBJECTLIST for c:\jase\6.2.1.1 and are simply lefty with the local account BIN and LIB can anyone help please !at the moment it would appear that dialing in as a dumb screen on telnet works ok via the remote.cmdMany thanks  :)

We have a client that just installed Accuterm 8.0.1015 on both a Windows 11 23H2 OS and a Windows 11 24H2 OS and it appears they have done so correctly. However, when they open Accuterm the icons below the menu are simply showing up as empty blocks but the tooltips do work. Is this a setting or a compatibility issue. 

The proper way to start D3 Linux 10.4 is: systemctl start d3svc We have run into instances where someone is starting is using D3_setup start, which starts it in foreground, not as a service. OK for debugging, but the problem is that if that thread disconnects or is killed, the entire VME crashes. This is much like starting D3 Windows from a command prompt using d3vme /debug, then closing the command prompt.  So please use systemctl instead of other methods.

There is a bug in the MVS Toolkit (or at least we believe it's the Toolkit) where if you use an OpenSSL version higher than 1.1 to generate a .PKCS12 document, it appears to create just fine, but when you install that in the Toolkit, HTTPS does not work. Rocket is working on this problem, but so far we have not been able to identify what or where the problem is. Meanwhile, I suggest that you use OpenSSL v1.1 or lower to generate your keys, certificate requests and certificates. While we're on the subject, I've worked some cases recently where people generated a private key that was not an RSA private key. It needs to be an RSA private key or the world won't like it. If you have any questions about any of this, or if you want some help with certificate generation (or anything else with the Toolkit for that matter), please open a support ticket and I'll jump on it right away and give you a hand.

Hi there, Hope you can help :) We are currently running a (very) old version of jBase 3.4 and are experimenting on a test server to migrate our accounts to jBase 6.2.  Could anyone point me in the direction of some documentation for what we would have to do to upgrade our accounts assuming we have jBase 6.2 installed and working on the new server? Many thanks Mike Lankester

All,Currently we are extracting out JSON data character by character and saving the data in d3.  That works fine for small records.  But, now we are looking at converting a record with the size of 3,147,865.  Character by character manipulation of a string is very cumbersome.   Is there a JSON to d3 program out there that could handle this or does someone have any ideas?Ted Hurlbut

As I sit here waiting for another Windows update for our MVS Toolkit, I wonder again, and I do mean again, why there is no Linux version for this part of the tool. We stopped using MS Windows over 20 years ago, but had to go and get  a licence and set up vm server to run Windows so that we could interface with the web. Where have all our problems been? On the Windows server. Now if there was a Linux version available, we may have had to set up a vm anyway, but it would have worked a lot better and saved a lot of technician time.

Hi there.Hope you can help!I am trying to setup the profile so that when the user click clone on a tab it will autologin. I have tried recording a macro and then replaying the macro but this just opens a new window without connecting the terminal or logging in.If I go to script editor and press play it works as intended but I need this to work by right clicking the tab and cloning with an autologin. I am running AccuTerm 8.1 standard. Any help much appreciated!!Thanks

 Accuterm seems to allow greater that 31 days in a month for date fields !! Traits for a form - if we select return will wok in a multi line text box - we seem to just complete the form - not stay in the multi line box anybody seen these problems and are there answers ?

Just putting this out there. I’ve had a couple of cases where people upgraded D3 to 10.3.3 or 10.3.4 and started having weird problems with MVSP. In both cases, we upgraded MVSP to 1.8.21 and it solved the issue. When upgrading D3, it’s not good to simply restore your existing MVSP account, especially if you’re going to 10.4. Anybody out there ready to upgrade, please contact me so I can get you the MVSP 1.8.21 version and help you install it. The reason it’s not posted in the RCP Downloads is because the pseudo tape is NOT a patch but rather an account-save, and the steps are different. Watching videos, starting to use the cli. for example, I want to find the customers table (correct my terminology if you don't call them tables).  I entered "listf" didn't see a customers table. Saw users ...entered list users..saw the system users. Cool How do I find the accounts or folder where the customers /cust table lives? I read through the documentation and compared it to what I am seeing on the system. There is a DEVICES record called OKIDATA.  This has control character definitions and such. In the USER-COLD-START, there is a STARTPTR 0, 0, 0, S13 & STARTPTR 1, 1, 0, S10 and other for the rest. There is also an ASSIGNFQ 1,OKIDATA (C If I do LISTPTR I have several printers, 0, 1, 2, 6 and 7 and all say serial and DEV or PROCESS # is 13, 10, 11, 14 and 9.On the server itself, the OKIDATA printer name is OKI-C711-DCA9AC. Before upgrading 10.4.0 or earlier versions of D3 Windows, shut down and do a "standard" uninstall of D3. This will leave all of your data and Device Manager settings in place. This is necessary because of a bug in the 10.4.0.1 installer which will not allow installation of the D3 services once the upgrade is complete.------------------------------Brian S.
