MultiValue Tools

This subject seems to be changing every week. (Yes, I have read the AI posting form @Mike Rajkowski  from 2 years ago, but we are living in the super-fast lane) I keep seeing new AI’s focusing on specific niches.   According to my Google AI search Claude and Lovable are the current AI that understand Unibasic (I always search for Unibasic because PICK and BASIC are too generic).  I decided to explore Lovable with a paid subscription and have had good results creating MV programs.  I even uploaded sample MV A/R accounting module documentation, and Lovable generated working screens and programs (not MV programs) with logic to connect with a LiteSQL database!!! I could use the screens on desktop and mobile devices. I do plan on fine-tuning my results to use Unibasic and see what it does.  What is everyone using, and for what purpose?

The Rocket® MV team is pleased to announce the release of U2 Toolkit for .NET 3.1.3 on October 16th, 2026. The Rocket® U2 Toolkit for .NET Provider offers a free .NET data provider interface for Rocket UniVerse® and Rocket UniData®, while U2 Toolkit for .NET Developer adds the ability to develop in Microsoft® Visual Studio. U2 Toolkit for .NET 3.1.3 enhancements and improvements include:Support for .NET 10. The U2 Toolkit driver now supports applications running on the .NET 10 runtime, enabling .NET 10 applications to connect to UniVerse and UniData servers using the U2 Toolkit API. NuGet package availability. The U2 Data Client and U2 Entity Framework Core packages are now available directly from NuGet. Both packages target .NET 10 and can be installed and managed using the standard NuGet Package Manager in Visual Studio or the .NET CLI, simplifying dependency management and ensuring alignment with the latest supported .NET tooling. Updated End User License Agreement (EULA). The EULA

In all my years of using UniObjects for Java (UOJ), I have not paid attention to memory leaks in my syntax. They existed I am sure, but why bother if the process is pretty quick and was getting re-used by the web server. Of course, I would make sure that I closed files or make sure that I close sessions. I have a Windows machine running a 3.5 gig of memory that has been working for years. This year (2026) I upgraded the web server from Apache Tomcat 9 to Apache Tomcat 11. I upgraded Java from 17 to to 25. It was painful because of the Javax libraries which are no longer supported at this Java release and had to be replaced with Jakarta libraries. All of the all other libraries like BIRT, our Unidata/Universe Report writer, required updates to run in Java 25 as well. All of this increased my war file size by at 25%. That does not sound much but on this particular machine the margin of error was gone we would run out of memory several times a month. Every minute or so depending on what the

Had a customer report today that there’s a strange bug in the SB+ expression parser.  The sample he provided was this:IF(1,170,””)”MR2”)The spurious ) at the end should be a syntax error.  But it is not.    As long as all quotes are “, this returns either 170 or “)”MR2 depending on if the condition is true or false.  It also gets converted in EEGC as follows:IF 1 THEN   VALUE = 170END ELSE   VALUE = '")"MR2'ENDThis is not a crisis, but I wanted to post this in case anyone else happens to make the same mistake we did, with that extra “)” at the end of an expression.

We were testing some new MVIS functionality, and received the follow error in the log file on some of the transactions:     “The user limit has been reached on the server”We are assuming that this has to do with U2 licenses on the test server, not an MVIS issue. Can someone confirm?

We're excited to share a new release of MV Basic for VS Code, focused on giving developers better visibility into their code, more control over their workflow, and smarter in-editor assistance. What's Improved Better Diagnostics and TroubleshootingDiagnostic output collection makes it easier to capture what the extension is doing when something doesn't behave as expected. This shortens the path to a resolution for both self-service troubleshooting and support cases.A More Configurable WorkflowRight-click commands are now customizable and configurable, so teams can tailor the editor's context menu to the actions they use most and standardize those shortcuts across a development group.Smarter Developer AssistanceFor UniVerse and UniData, this release adds AI Copilot syntax and plugin instruction examples for MV BASIC, helping developers get more relevant, MV-aware suggestions as they write code.Easier Code NavigationAlso for UniVerse and UniData, region collapsing lets developers fold s

I’m issuing the ESC STX ? command in two different places and am getting some results that don’t seem to be documented in the Accuterm user manual.  When I issue it from Accuterm on my PC I get the character “$” in the capabilities string that isn’t defined in the manual.  When I issue it from a webpage using Accuterm IO, I get 30 for a platform and 11 for a product.  Is there some newer documentation that I”m not aware of?

Hi everyone,Just a query, my company occasionally does sweeps on applications on end user devices to ensure there are no files within that are vulnerable to being attacked.Recently they have marked Rocket MV Basic’s extension file, ls4b.jar as vulnerable, and want to know if this file is dependent on the application, and if there is a possibility to update this file, or if this file will be staying as it is?Thank you.

When using MV BASIC in Online mode I have not been able to open multiple programs into separate tabs. This is a reasonably basic capability to have to support coder productivity. Is it meant to be possible? If so, is there a setting which controls it?

I have been having issues with Rocket MV BASIC for Visual Studio Code intellisense for weeks now.  I have tried updating the JAVA PATH in the settings to the newer version of Java I have 21.0.11.10.  I keep getting the following error below (local path info omitted).[Error - 3:55:14 PM] Client Rocket MV BASIC Language Server: connection to server is erroring. We use UniVerse which allows strings to be quoted with backslashes.I just realised that the backslash quoted strings in MV BASIC are not recognised as strings, and then found it has been a bug since 2022[BUG] Syntax Highlighting Incorrect When Using Backslash ('\') to Delineate String Literals · Issue #167 · mvextensions/mvbasicNot having correct string detection causes flow-on false-positive errors to be presented which make using MV BASIC less valuable as you have to sort through those reports just in case it is hiding a real problem.I used Bing’s search to understand what is needed to sort this out.Bing’s AI indicates this is the snippet needed{  "name": "string.quoted.backslash.mvbasic",  "begin": "\\\\",  "end": "\\\\"}and that it should live in the syntaxes/mvbasic.tmLanguage.json file within the rocketsoftware.mvbasic extension folder.I have not tried this, but if it is as simple as that could it be corrected in the next MV BASIC extension release?

The following was in the Output panel for the Rocket MV BASIC Language Server after connecting to the configured host:May 26, 2026 3:57:05 PM asjava.uniclientlibs.UniConnection nlsInitWARNING: Exception occurs, isNLSLocalesEnabled is true: Default is used:asjava.uniobjects.UniNLSException: NLS Map not found Is this a problem? There appear to be no connection settings allowing for the customisation of the NLS setup when connecting.
