Does anyone have an accurate handle on how and when AUTOLOGOUT triggers?   The manual says….Use AUTOLOGOUT to enable or disable automatic logout. With AUTOLOGOUT enabled, UniVerse logs you out automatically if you have not pressed a key within a specified time.But I don’t believe that is accurate.   We’ve had some confusing results in testing.   A process on a loop with periodic TIMEDATE() displays (output only) does not trigger.  Similarly a loop process with no screen output but just a SLEEP X also does not trigger even in between loops before it goes back to sleep.So, we are trying to understand the actual nuts and bolts of how/when it triggers.   Thanks for any help.Steve DouglasVP Systems AdminMBMS, LLC

What happened to The Forum after the upgrade? We used to get an e-mail when somebody posted to a forum that we were registered on. Since the upgrade, nothing, nada, nil, zilch. So do we have to logon to see if there is interesting happening?

We have a customer using this old version of SB+ and they want modifications to a GUI screen to add a bunch of columns to a grid.  On the character screen, the first column is a dependent mv, and the second column is the controlling mv.  The prompt sequence on the screen has the dependent properly following the controlling mv.When regenerating the GUI form from the character version, the dependent properly shows to the left of the controlling mv.  However, when modifying the form in the GUI Form Builder, the dependent shows up on the left in the form builder but is moved to the right of the controlling mv when the form is executed.Is there a way to get this to consistently display the columns in the grid according to the prompt sequence in the screen definition?A little more info: The controlling mv is a product #.  When the product # is entered, the first dependent (that we want shown before the product #) displays @CNT as a line reference.  Then the second and subsequent dependent co

Does anyone know where I can get a copy of Visual Cobol?I have a book on the subject but the author gave the reader a bogus web address.Or do I just have to wait to be told where to go to get my copy of the compiler. I like working with Visual Studio Community.

There is a new file called uoj.properties that controls logging and such for UOJ 5.4.3. I read the documentation and found this new required feature. However, the UOJ code does not read the file when deployed on Apache Tomcat. Rocket Software is working on a hotfix.The problem is that the logDebugLevel is set to INFO no matter what you set the file for. Because I have background process running like batch jobs, clean up temporary files in Universe, and running BIRT print jobs in UniBasic code. Each of those processes creates a log entry meaning I create about 43,250 minimum per day in the Apache Tomcat log files. I am looking for a way to differentiate a record create (or insert if you will) from a record update within a trigger.  I am not seeing anything that would allow me to do this easily.   My use case is to send out an event on a record create and a different event on a record update.  I want this to happen only after a successful write.I can see on a pre-write how I could see if the record exists already or not, but then if the write should fail, I would have sent an event for the create or the update that is out of sync with the state of my database.  I would like to avoid having 2 events sent on a create (one pre-write detecting a create and one post-write for an update).It would seem to be an important piece of metadata that should be available to the trigger as to whether or not this record had to (or will) be created by the write.Has anyone else already come up with an elegant solution or can point out the obvious thing I am missing?

Hi Unifacers,I would like to understand how to deal with VARIANT datatype in a COM interface with Uniface.VARIANT datatype as far as I’ve understood from Microsoft documentation is accepting either strings or numeric or any other datatypes and based on the datatype received it is reacting accordingly.Giving an easy understandable example (but the problem is generic):an Excel workbook could be composed from one or more worksheet; when more worksheets are available the program should select the one it wants to work into.After loading the Excel type library in Uniface and opening the workbook the operation to be called to move to a specific worksheet is:    sheets->get_item(handle out, variant in)- First param is an output parameter and it is the handle/pointer to the requested sheet- Second param is a VARIANT and it could be either a number or a string; when number it means the ordinal number identifying the requested worksheet or when string it means the name assigned to the workshee
