I tried using your TestExcel program to read a cell. I set the file name with            move spaces to ExcelFileName           string 'z"C:\\Users\\alan\\Documents\\Micro Focus\\'             'Net Express 5.1\\WORKAREA\\SMNG\\emailsmar25.xlsx"'             delimited by size into ExcelFileNameThis is in the NE5.1 IDE with Wrappack 18 on Windows 10.  Error: Open methods of Workbooks class failed on "Open" The path C:\\Users\\alan\\Documents\\Micro Focus\\Net Express 5.1\\WORKAREA\\SMNG is correct. It seems, if a secondary form has a large enough width if gets attached to the main form (meaning it does not float anymore).  It can be dragged and becomes a floating form... but this is an additional action. What is wanted is that a secondary form is initialised as floating no matter what its width. Is this a bug? v10.4.01 ------------------------------Osman Shariff------------------------------

Hi, As mentioned in previous thread, we're playing with 10.4 on Linux, and I'm new to the VME/FSI world! Is it possible to increase the size of the VME without a re-install? In the D3Vme.ini file there are these statements: <pre>[d3vme.disks.0]name                           = Disk0.d3size                           = 1024000offset                         = 0</pre> I tried adding a [d3vme.disks.1] to mimic the adding a disk to the old pick0 file, but the system wasn't fooled! We have forms with non fixed fields... The fields can be hidden, and the width of them can be changed. What is needed is the form scrollbar to be applied if needed dynamically.   The form in question is defined as secondary in the IDE (as it acts as a sort of popup) The obvious place would be (newinstance) where we define the width of the form to be activated. However, it seems the decision to display the scroll bar or not is determined by the width defined in the frm in DICT via the IDE (and NOT the newinstance width) Have I missed something or can this be resolved? V10.04.01 ---- Edit: The instance width is the width to display the window of the frm which  is defined in the code The frm width is defined in the frm and can not be changed in code. For some characters we receive escaped codes such as \\uxxxx Example : \\u00E9 for an 'é', \\u0027 for an apostrophe, etc Is there a Uniface function to convert them ? Both items are strings. They're not equal. It seems Universe is doing some kind of conversion on them that makes them equal. If I convert the strings to integers it knows they're not equal. If I concatenate a letter on to either string it knows they're not equal.  My client was using smaller numbers in a field but a new specification requires and 18 digit number. They don't want to to through all there programs that compare these numbers and modify them with a alpha character or int conversion. Does anyone know what's going on and how to best fix it?

I think I am missing something basic with the spooler.  For a long time our company was using D3 and the way our software was setup, whenever something was to be printed, it would first generate a hold file and then the user could send the hold file to the printer at their leisure. When we switched to QM I just had things go immediately to the printer because for the life of me I couldn't figure out how to send a hold file to the printer after the fact.  I know this is something very basic but I just don't see it.  The solution must be in some mental blind spot of mine. Hi,  I have curl 8.4.0 with z/OS 2.4 and I am getting these errors: OpenSSL SSL_connect: SSL_ERROR_SYSCALL in connection to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:443 On the first request if failed with insufficient randomness, which points to /dev/random and /dev/random not working correctly, which led me to find out CSF was not started and the SAF resources was not defined. We got past that, the User ID using Curl has READ access to the following CSFSERV profiles : CSNBRNG - Random Number Generate CSFNRNGL - Random Number Generate Long Now, is there any other profile that needs to be authorized for SSL to work ? I have RHEL 8.8. It has OpenSSL 1.1.1k. My UniVerse version is 11.3.4. It is OpenSSL 1.1.1b. What is the correct procedure to upgrade UniVerse's OpenSSL to 1.1.1k.  I'm trying to install a Python Module and it throws an error trying to download a new version of OpenSSL. Jon

Hi -  I have a ISAM file.. File is in Recovery Status .. causing 9802 in program opening this file... I cannot recover the file using recover1 since file is used in real time system..  Is there any other method to recover this file or skip the bad record ? #RM/COBOL#ISAM

Hi all, Apologies if I'm in completely the wrong place! We have an appplication running on D3 and have a linked sever in MSSQL using the ODBC connection. When retrieving a date column I am getting error : Error converting data type DBTYPE_DBDATE to date. select * from openquery (LINKEDSERVERNAME, 'SELECT DATE_COMPL FROM SOH SOH WHERE (SOH.DATE_COMPL={d ''2024-03-01''})') From Googling it seems I need to convert it to a string, but I am unsure of the conversion functions in D3. I'm embarrassed to even ask this. I've seen the answer a couple of times in the documentation but can't ever seem to find it if I'm looking for it. How do you disable the automatic paging where the program prompts the user to hit the return key to continue. I know I can use the NO.PAGE option when running the program but I want to disable it in the program itself. Most of these programs were written for native Pick and were never designed to handing automatic paging. That's why I want to disable it in the program and not in the menu that run's the program.

The ALFFLTR member delivered in the distributed ZMF SAMPLES library lists all default log events that will be delivered to the NTFYURL address for processing. As explained in this member itself, all of the listed events are delivered commented in this member which results in all of them being emitted to the NTFYURL software (e.g. tomcat, SBM, etc.). Care needs to be taken when changing or uncommenting any single event in, or adding an additional, non-default event to, the ALFFLTR dataset/member. This will result in ONLY the uncommented events being sent. I have a program that runs from the command prompt from my program.  This is the command:  cmd.exe /C cscript //nologo D:\\NEW_MSI\\MSI_DATA\\MakeGuid.vbs > D:\\NEW_MSI\\MSI_DATA\\myguid.txt I am using CALL "SYSTEM" USING WS-CMD-LINE to run the command. (the command above is placed in WS-CMD-LINE before the call to "SYSTEM". The command works great from a dos prompt, but when I use it in my program - it does not work at all. The myguid.txt file is never generated.  Does anybody have any suggestions on how I can get this to work?

Knowing that Visual Cobol for Eclipse is not compatible with DialogSystem instructions. If I would like to adapt a COBOL program that uses DialogSystem, is there any example or document that explains how it should be done? Is there in VC for Eclipse any tool similar to DS that facilitates the migration?

I have a client who started their business on R83 and are now on D3 Linux. All of their USERS were created long before D3 and by my former partner. In every account on this particular system, regardless of where you are, a CTRL-BREAK re-executes the MD item - BASIC or PROC - when you type END from the debugger. I reached out to Rocket support and was unable to get a solution, so I poked around in my old reliable R83 manual and found that if Attribute 9 in the USERS item is set to R, that's exactly what will happen. If it's set to L, then END leaves the user at TCL. The moral?
