I have a file witch is greater than 1 GB. To handle this I have to use MF8 but also, as I understood, set FILEMAXSIZE=8 in extfh.cfg (extfh.cfg  on the same directory as all programmes, not data-files) The file I want to affect is on a subdir t\\, filename is artik_3o  (w/o extension) Will the extfh.cfg be [XFH-DEFAULT]; no default[t\\artik_3o.]FILEMAXSIZE=8 [t\\artik_3o.]

I currently have Visual Cobol Personal Edition 2.1 hosted in Visual Studio 2010. I would like to upgrade to VCPE 2.2 but hosted in VS 2012, which I also have. Do I need to uninstall VCPE 2.1 and Licence Manager before upgrading to VCPE 2.2? Any gotchas? Thanks Paul

The scenario is as follows: Within a run-unit, we run a program that calls others (many others).We would need to have a data area visible by all programs running within that run unit.Eventually, some program also would update the data in this area, as if it were the "session data".Any idea how we could implement this requirement? We are using Visual Cobol 2.2 under Unix. Any collaboration will be appreciated.

I am looking for a good SIMPLE example of using a Microsoft List Box (ActiveX) in a Bench project.  Does anyone have a sample bench project that I could download to see how to set up the variables and load data into the list box? Thanks for any help.

Problem: When connecting to a remote machine using RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) and launching a Windows Service which contains a CBL_DEBUGBREAK, Visual Cobol for Visual Studio or Visual Cobol for Eclipse does not detect the CBL_DEBUGBREAK. Resolution: When the service encounters the CBL_DEBUGBREAK, it has to interact with the desktop to display the 'Do you want to debug' prompt. It does this by getting the user currently logged into the computers console, and interacting with that console. The remote desktop uses a separate session which is not the console window so the prompt is not visible. PROBLEM After converting Vision files from VISION 3 to VISION 5 format and copying the files to another server this error occurred. PROBLEM Source code cannot be extracted from an AcuCobol runtime object. There is no Micro Focus functionality to support this task. RESOLUTION A request can be made extract source code from a Customer’s runtime object. Full details can be obtained from the Micro Focus Technical Services team.  

We are using a SQL Server Linked Server to access data in cobol files. It worked ok, until we decided to restart it using the following commands: del C:\\DATABASE\\CRPO\\XDBC_CRPO\\xdbc\\*.* /q call ainit -d C:\\DATABASE\\CRPO\\XDBC_CRPO\\xdbc call xdbcutil -c -d C:\\DATABASE\\CRPO\\XDBC_CRPO\\xdbc call xdbcutil -d C:\\DATABASE\\CRPO\\XDBC_CRPO\\xdbc -f C:\\DATABASE\\CRPO\\XDBC_CRPO\\xfd I did not get any errors when running the commands, but after this I was not able to get the data through the linked server anymore. I get the error saying:  OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "MyServer" returned message "[TOD][ODBC Driver]Invalid USERID and/or PASSWORD". As you can see below, there is no password set for this ODBC connection. The driver we are using is version 8.01. We receive a lot of invoices in XML format from our suppliers. All have the header <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>  and should be in that format.  Unfortunately some do not fulfill this format and have some fields filled with ASCII characters (not UTF-8 as it should be), including accented vowels á é í ó ú.   X”F3”  X”E9”  X”E1”  X”FA” etc. The Internet Explorer does not open/show the file due to this wrong codification.   My program has the ENVIRONMENT DIVISION. FILE-CONTROL. select factura-XML assign to ID-ARCHIVO-FAC                      file status is file-status-spec.   The program generally works very fine if the XML is encoded right and reads all fields. I have a file greater than 1GB.If I rebuild it to MF8 it can be larger but when I subsequent updated the file it gets corrupted (9/041)Is it nessesarry to also use FILEMAXSIZE=8? Hi folks, pardon my intrusion here, I just want to know if anyone knows if Visual COBOL PE, which as far as I can tell is only available up to 2.2 and not 2.2.1, will work in VS2013. I asked support, but they referred me to the Borland forum and told me the PE was handled there. I posted the question there, but no answer and the forum appears dormant as the last post was over a year ago. I would like to avoid installing VS2012 as I would need to uninstall VS2013, then install VS2012 and re-install VS2013 to keep things from getting mucked up, per MS. I'm assuming there is a reason 2.2 needed to be updated to support VS2013, but wanted to make sure before I jump through hoops. Thanks for any help someone can provide.
