Currently (as far as I'm aware), the newest version of the MVSP .NET API is using Framework 4.8, which is incredibly old (but still supported).  Are there any plans to move the MVSP API to a more current version of .NET? The current Rocket D3 Online Documentation Library has been moved to the Rocket Product Documentation portal, and traffic to the current portal will be redirected to the new doc home by January 6, 2025. You may or may not be familiar with the primary Rocket Product Documentation portal, where all of the Rocket product documentation is served and supported by a robust set of AI features that help users find and manage their product docs.  The D3 family of documentation is now available here, and you can bookmark this link for future reference.  You can also quickly get to the D3 documentation from the portal home page by clicking the letter 'D' under  Find Your Product, and then selecting your D3 product. In either case, the Product Search Documentation field will scope the search to the product(s) you have selected.  The "Filter Publications" search field in the Library view will simply search for exact words in the list of publication titles.  The Rocket Product Documentation portal d

Edit for posterity: Windows 11 runs Viaduct just fine. I'm not sure what went wrong on the first install, but after uninstalling and reinstalling it works. Have also installed on a second PC, which is also running fine. Our office uses Viaduct 2000 installed on Windows 10 to access the D3 instance on the server. I know there's newer and better emulators out there but it's always worked for us and we've never had a need to for anything else. With W10 support coming to an end and needing to upgrade to Windows 11, I tried installing Viaduct on a PC with Windows 11. It installed fine, but when I try to open it, it just has an error message.  My question is, are any of you running Viaduct on Windows 11? I'd like to hear that it's possible before spending a bunch of time trying to troubleshoot my issue. ------------------------------Steve AkhurstAccounts PayableSpecialty Toys Direct IncBURNABY BC CA------------------------------

Had a case today where the mvBase 3.3.2 installer would not run on a Windows 11 box. They were trying to install the workstation component. The installer just hung and never made it to the Welcome screen, even though they "ran as administrator" but not logged in as an admin user. We fixed the issue by logging onto the Window 11 box as the local administrator. Then everything ran fine. This is a gentle reminder to ALWAYS be logged on as a local admin user when running the installer. ------------------------------Brian S. MVS Toolkit versions 2.2.3.121 and earlier required activation. We no longer have the ability to activate those versions. If you are running an older version, we highly recommend that you upgrade. If you decide to continue to run on the older version, at least make sure you have a current Web Service Export just in case your Toolkit installation breaks and you are forced to upgrade. A Web Service export is much like a Pick file-save: Hopefully you never need it, but if you do, you'll be glad you have it! Upgrading the MVS Toolkit has more benefit that just removing the need for activation. The older Toolkit versions use Jetty and Java versions that have been deprecated because of security issues. I'm changing the UI of an app from a classic D3 character based UI to a Java Swing app using MVSP Java to talk to D3. I've got a slight architectural problem I'm hoping someone might have some insight into. All the character based programs include an unnamed common block which keeps file descriptors, screen and prompt info etc. All hotkeys can be defined to start a program, so if you are in any input field pressing a hotkey will start a new program and after that program finishes the screen is refreshed back to where you were. A unnamed common block works well, because when the hotkey program is executed, a level is pushed, and because the common block is unnamed, the pushed program gets it's own copy of common and can execute independently of the program that started the pushed program. There a 2 issues: (1) a subroutine cannot declare an unnamed common if the calling program hasn't first, and (2) if you use named common, this is global for all pushed levels during a login session. we've recently upgraded our D3 / Flashconnect from Centos7 & D3 10.1 to Almalinux 9.4 & D3 10.3.4. flashconnect has been version 3.9 throughout. everything seems to be working fine except for one thing, which worked on the old set-up and doesn't seem to be working on the new one. the issue is when the client follows a link that takes to a different cgi-bin script on our server. that scrip lets them upload files to the webserver, and contains a <form> link back to where they left off on flashconnect. this has worked perfectly for us for more years than i can remember, the return to flashconnect has always been seemless thanks to a single cookie with the w3profileid stored in the client browser. on the new system however, when they return to fccgi.exe instead of ending up where they should they're getting a logon screen that seems to be generated by wbp w3logonscreen and i have no idea why that's happening. i don't know what's calling that subroutine so i'm not sure how to

My org uses a "zero trust" connectivity product called "Zscaler".  It's effectively a replacement for the VPN we used to use for remote users. Ever since Zscaler was implemented, there's been periodic connectivity issues with our D3 systems - they're disconnecting a client connection within milliseconds of accepting it.  Recently, this problem has become dramatically worse - to the point where it's affecting business operations.  People in billing aren't able to connect for hours at a time. It occurred to me today that it might be a licensing problem on the D3 side.  All the problematic connections are being made via MVSP on port 9000. Because of how Zscaler works, all the connections that travel over the Zscaler network are going to hit our servers from the same IP address.  I'm wondering if D3 isn't seeing that and will start denying connections from the same IP address after the connections reach a certain threshold.  Is this possible? Right now the problem has descended to finger-

I asked AI  if I need a web server for our D3/LX64 backend and it came back with the following;  Using a web server like NGINX can be beneficial in your setup with Rocket D3 MultiValue Database, a Node.js server, and a React frontend, but it's not strictly necessary. Here's a breakdown of how each component fits into your architecture: Rocket D3 MultiValue Database: This will handle your data storage and retrieval. Node.js Server: This acts as the middle layer, handling API requests, business logic, and communication between your React frontend and Rocket D3 backend. Node.js is well-suited for this role due to its non-blocking, event-driven architecture.React Frontend: This will be your user interface, providing a dynamic and responsive experience for users.NGINX: While not mandatory, NGINX can serve multiple purposes:Reverse Proxy: It can route incoming requests to your Node.js server, improving load balancing and security.Static File Serving: It can efficiently serve static assets li

I have some very vague memory that there's an attribute in a compiled item that indicates whether or not it's been FlashBASIC compiled or not.  Unfortunately, I don't remember what it was, and it's not obvious. :) Here's an example that I know for sure does not use FlashBASIC: Here's an example of a program that's compile with FlashBASIC: Is attribute 12 being > 0 indicate a FlashBASIC compiled program?  The reason I'm chasing this down is that I'm migrating from D3 v9.0.0 to v10.3.4 and I've got a lot of stuff that has to be recompiled due to the FlashBASIC changes, but I've got even more that can't be FlashBASIC compiled.  (does it need to be "normal" compiled due to the version change?) I'm in the process of setting up a "golden master"[*] in order to migrate six D3 v9.0 Linux hosts to v10.3.4. I wanted to get the base D3 install completed before turning the VM over to my infrastructure team for duplication. I'm installing on RHEL 9 (9.4 specifically) and noticed that nothing has been done regarding systemd during the install process, even though there's some passing acknowledgement in the docs that xinetd is deprecated.  Nothing for telnet, nothing for MVSP. I didn't know what to do regarding the missing systemd service scripts for telnet, (the word "systemd" doesn't even occur in the 10.3.4 installation guide.  That's problematic.), I figured I'd at least see if I could get MVSP set up - maybe that creates the systemd services. I'm greeted with this: :to mvsp < Connect time= 0 Mins.; CPU= 0 Units; LPTR pages= 0        >WHICH TCP/IP PORT NUMBER TO USE (9000) ?DO YOU WANT AN SSL CONNECTION (Y/[N]) ?Updating configuration. i'm in the process of testing a big upgrade, from d3 linux 10.1 to d3 linux 10.3.4 and i'm sure this is another silly question but i don't know where to find the answers. probably because i'm not sure how to phrase the questions. when i log to the www account to start flashconnect i get the following error: [877] in program "WWW-STATUS", FlashBASIC object revision of program 'wbp WWW-STATUS' is incompatible with system revision - please recompile. i get the same error when i try to use www-manager. when i try to recompile i'm told they're not on file. :compile wbp www-status www-manager [202] 'www-status' not on file. [202] 'www-manager' not on file. and finally, i saw in the flashconnect install.pdf it says you should "run bp upgrade" after an upgrade, so i tried that and got th

i have another question, this time as per subject line i'm trying to set up the d3telnet turnkey stuff, on almalinux 9.4 where xinetd is not available. the admin.pdf talks about using xinetd and doesn't mention any other possibilities. i've searched the forum for 'xinetd' & 'turnkey' & found this post: D3 and mvBase which included a clue re. setting up a d323@.service so i tried to copy that manually then started it with systemctl. it failed though, and some digging revealed that the /usr/bin/d3net/d3_tel command doesn't accept either -w or -p arguments. i poked at it a bit and got the following: Usage: mve_tel [-debug4 | -debug6] [-h] [-n] [-N] [port] but i haven't been able to find where any of those options are defined, and at this point i'm not sure i'm even following the right lead. i've checked all the PDFs that came in the d3 10.3.4 download, and like i said i've searched on here, but i haven't managed to find what i'm looking for. is there a published guide somewhere t

Hi everyone,   I have a client with a successful D3 10.3 Linux installation who needs to meet auditing requirements by testing their Disaster Recovery (DR) procedure. The DR test is an annual event where they spin up a Linux server with a D3 instance and restore their database and applications.   Rocket's policy, as outlined in the Rocket MV End User Handbook (page 28), states that when running D3 in a High Availability/Disaster Recovery (HA/DR) setup, matching licenses with unique serial numbers and identical configurations are required. This includes scenarios like using U2 Replication or any secondary mechanisms for failover, all of which need additional licenses.   My client is resistant to replicating their D3 Production environment and is also hesitant about the alternative solution of maintaining a separate D3 machine with minimal configuration. They've pointed out that Oracle allows a separate server setup "for the duration of their DR testing" free of charge.   I'm reaching ou

I wondering what others do for pessimistic locking strategies. D3's normal READU will lock a record for that PIB, and that execute level, which is good, and it is the behavior all D3 Basic programs probably use.  My character based apps allow a user to "push" a level, so if you were in a customer maintenance screen,  for example, the customer record ABCD would be locked, and if you pushed a level in that screen  and used a menu selection to open a new customer maintenance screen and tried to edit ABCD, it would locked via the normal READU behavior. This would work the same if some other user on another PIB had  ABCD locked.  With  a Java Swing app using MVSP, because it's a GUI, I can have multiple windows opened at the same time, so I could have 2 (or 200)  customer maintenance screens open and clearly don't want to edit the same record on more than one screen.  If I used one D3 connection per open window, I'd pretty soon run out of user licences, so I'm only using one D3 connection f

Ran into a problem on an Azure RHEL 9 instance where D3_setup could not execute anything out of the /tmp directory resulting in a failed install (/usr/bin/d3 missing, etc.). If you run into this, do the following as root: mount -o remount, suid, exec /tmp You should also alter the /etc/fstab to make this permanent after a Linux reboot. Find this:/dev/mapper/rootvg-tmplv   /tmp   xfs  defaults,rw,nosuid, noexec, nodev, relatime  0 0 change this part:nosuid, noexec to this:suid resulting in this:/dev/mapper/rootvg-tmplv   /tmp   xfs  defaults,rw,suid, nodev, relatime  0 0 While not related to D3 installation, it might be a good idea to make the same changes for the /home directory so that you can execute out of the /home directory as well. To do that, change this line in /etc/fstab as well: Before:/dev/mapper/rootvg-homelv  /home  xfs  defaults,rw,nosuid, noexec, nodev, relatime  0 0After:/dev/mapper/rootvg-homelv  /home  xfs  defaults,rw,suid, nodev, relatime  0 0 The mount would look like this:moun
